Lived in Windsor from 2007-2011, arrived with the idea that the city was a dirty auto city. Couldn't have been more wrong, great city and the people awesome!
I'm an international student living in Windsor for the past 2 years now. It is a city of community. Very diverse, and offers countless opportunities to network and build your own community. Lot's of events and activities to live a great life.
Just moved from Toronto to work at the battery and the house shown is the one I have rented coincidentally. My family and I are loving it here. Great place for a young family to grow!!!
I’m from the gta area. Went to Windsor this march break. Was there for 3 days. Walked around, drive a bit around town. Thought I was gonna see a lot of garbage and a lot of homelessness. City was clean and very beautiful and quiet. Windsor is a nice bang for your buck city. Everything that we would shop in the gta was there. I would move there. Just not much job opportunities. But a very underrated Ontarian city. Best perk is the boarder to Detroit. Windsorites are very lucky to have Detroit literally in yall backyard. Weather is great.
Great video my man! How many people will say good things about Windsor, but it is what you make it, we have a really nice city and can find good people .... I've been born and raised here! Very good climate for Canada to!
Windsor is where we started in Canada in October 1990. I have fond memories. I was 12 years old. We moved to Toronto in 1992 and eventually ended up in Hamilton in1993. I'm here still to this day.
My plan is to retire to Southern Ontario. I'm tired of cold Ottawa Winters. My concern about Essex and Kent counties is the high water table. I am considering moving to somewhere South of London between St Thomas and Simcoe in a rural area. I would rather be a little colder with a dry basement. A couple times a year I drive down to Southern Ontario to explore the towns. I love the old buildings. The towns are beautiful with the yellow bricks.
Calgary and edmonton are the 3rd and 4th largest cities in canada , so there are flights to many destinantions especially west , edmonton to vegas is usually 120 bucks in the winter or La
Great video. Everything you said is true except occasionally we will get a heavy snowfall which will stay on the ground for a couple of weeks. Other than that, it is definitely the best kept secret in Canada. I would also like to add that Lake Erie is cottage Country. No need to drive to Muskoka thru hours of traffic. You can own a water front cottage on Lake Erie for a fraction of the price and only be 45min from home. Both lakes get warm so, water sports are popular. Another great reason to Live in Windsor are the available jobs in the Detroit area for health care workers. Nurses, doctors, even Engeneers, will benefit with a 30+% increase in pay with the exchange rate. I've lived here 64yrs and love it.
Thank you Ryan for the information about Windsor, I’m moving to Sarnia in July and looking forward to visiting Windsor. You don’t hear to much about Windsor or Sarnia.
I would like to hear more about entertainment, sports etc. for kids under 13. You spoke about schools already. Great job! Is there a school bus system, or do I take my kids to and from school?
Hi Ryan, good video! What neighborhood has the best or very good elementary school and high school? Would you please make videos of Windsor about schools and housing, just like the awesome video you made about London.
I was born on Pelee Island and was raised in Windsor Ontario until I was 17yrs old. I still think of Windsor as my home town. There is so much more to see and do in Windsor than where I live now
The Indiana banana or pawpaw isn’t only native to Essex County. It native to the Niagara region too. Now it has been planted all over southern Ontario, Quebec New Brunswick and parts of Nova Scotia
It is CRAZY to me to hear that Windsor is "warm" and doesn't snow. I grew up in windsor but haven't lived there since 2004 (I've lived in bc, nz and now australia since). When I was little we would regularly miss school for snow days. I used to build snow forts and go ice skating ON the frozen Detroit River. Santa's reindeer used to leave footprints in the snow on our roof. A green Christmas was rare. I HATED Windsor and couldnt wait to get out, but as an adult, I am shocked at how beautiful and comforting I find it when I go back. ❤ thanks for this video. I am about to land in windsor again in a few days and am actually looking forward to it. ❤
Considering a move to Windsor Essex from Alberta. Seems like a shortage of listings is causing bidding competition on houses/condos, selling @5-8% over list. It’s basically a suburb of Detroit so having the big city across the river is nice.Nicer city and better climate than London.
Hi cliff. This is true - sellers list their house significantly lower than it’s worth as a marketing strategy. They still usually sell for the same price as neighboring houses though
I agree with most of the points here. I am a native Torontonian who now lives in Windsor part time. The restaurant scene in my experience is just ok. Pizza is good. Weather is DEFINATELY warmer and sunnier. But the restaurant scene on the low end is in no way comparable to Toronto. South Etobicoke, Spadina Chinatown and even spots in Mississauga have better restaurants than Windsor. Bar culture is generally depressing with alot of day drinkers who are just really mysogynistic. Its not a good city if you are a gay male. But it is improving and it is under rated in very many of the ways you describe. I can tell you are enthusiastic about the region as I am. I punches above its weight for sure.
I was born and raised in Windsor. The weather SUCKS here. When I was a kid, you could play pond hockey, now the winter isn’t even cold enough to make a backyard rink for even one day. It’s a slushy wet winter. And the summer is the worst dude-unless you live %85 humidity most of the summer. It’s September now and I literally cannot wait for the fall to get underway so I don’t have to deal with the humidity anymore. It really makes you feel lethargic to be breathing in all that water with your air. Note: if you go to the tip of point pelee--DO NOT SWIM. You will be instantly dragged out into the lake. You’re not allowed to swim anyway. It might be low crime but don’t think you’re not going to see plenty of deranged street addicts and bike thrives. The best place you can live here is south Windsor. Forget the west end. There are nicer suburbs to the east, and Riverside is pretty good. Yes the river front is nice. It’s not a boardwalk but a bike path. Going to Detroit is the funnest thing to do in Windsor. HANDS DOWN. I would choose London over Windsor any day! We have the Windsor Spitfires--probably the only point of pride. We have summer smog in Windsor because we are essentially surrounded by industry-mostly auto industry. Hiram Walkers is east of downtown and it smells like barley fermenting for many blocks. It’s not that bad a smell. There is one beach in Windsor-sand point. And in most days you cannot swim because the amount if literal shit in the Detroit river makes it unsafe. The Gnatcho trail is pretty cool. Will you like Windsor? It honestly depends on what kind of person you are and which area you choose to live. Windsor is majority Leaf fans over Detroit fans according to the Windsor star. He is right, when Toronto play the Wings in Detroit--80-90% leaf fans in the crowd. For a smaller city, the Casino does allow for many musical acts to play here that would t otherwise do so. One point of big interest is the ability to visit and eat in Detroits Mexican town. If you’re Canadian and you think you understand Mexican food--you’re gonna have your mind blown. It’s the only place in Detroit you can park your car on the street and leave it unlocked. Their community is tight and they don’t allow thieves to mess with the customers of Mexican town restaurants. Tha best food. And in Detroit Mexican town-Mondays is Canadian money at par. If you like music forget about Caesar’s when every big band makes a tour stop in Detroit. You can see any concert you want in Detroit. If you like fine and contemporary art-again-access to Detroits art scene offers something way out of reach for a normal smaller city like Windsor. Detroit has way better shopping too.
Always heard good stuffa bout windsor! You forgot to mentioned one thing, what is the age average of the resident there? is it mostly old folks retiring or mid-30s/40s starting their families and all?
lived in Windsor for 30 years and I left 9 months ago for south east asia. the cost of living has increased by over 50% in the last 3 years. I know this has happened for all of Canada. Okay moving from Alberta. I love that we have a leader who will stand up to JT and the clown show of running our country into the ground. How is Windsor conpared to politics? Is Windsor all Liberals? 1. Who cares about politics? 2. Safe for the kids to explore 3. Homeschool means less exploring and contact with other kids, but you are free to do it.
I just moved from Toronto to Windsor and you’re exactly right. Perfect and safe to live. Plus great for starting business.

Windsor had an incredible bar scene in the mid 80s. You have to be close to 60 to know that. The great pizza joints from that era still exist though.
좋은 정보 감사합니다. 영어는 잘 못하지만 윈저에서 한 번 살아보려고 합니다
How is the job market here guys? I am thinking of enrolling in University of Windsor next Summer in hope of looking for an audit/tax job

I live in Detroit and I haven’t been across the border to Windsor since 2018. I’m overdue for visiting our “southern neighbor.”
Hi Ryan, I saw houses from House Sigma costing around 200k - 400k. Can you let me know how realistic they are?
I would say 200k is realistic at all. A lot of things listed at 299k will sell for 350k+

How are jobs for college grads especially in construction and civil engineering ?
Gordie Howe Bridge after it's completion in 2025 will have bike trails to the USA. Malden Park also really good for dirt bike riding . Bike trails etc
