Does this MBP still have the Wifi issue i.e. you plug an external drive, USB C key or USB C accessory in and the Wifi starts dropping? My 2018 15" is awful for this.
For the thermal performance part, you didn’t tell the truth. I have the same configuration with yours, it always generate a lot heat. The Touch Bar area is always unusually hot even I am only watching TH-cam. I also had experienced the thermal-self-protection auto shut down when gaming CSGO. The design is still not good enough for i9 cpu
I have a question. Have you had such a problem that when working simultaneously with the computer display and an external monitor after 3-4 hours MBP 16 overheats and loses performance?
GregsGadgets just stating the true :) My macbook arrived today, do you plan on doing any video about gaming, which settings to change in the control panel for the radeon amd card (if any) Side note, It says I don’t have any new update to make but i still have the audio popping issue...🤔
My speakers still pop after the update. In fact it was not officially announced by Apple that the issue was addressed in the update notes. I hope they keep working on the solution.

I have a LG Gram 17 inch i7 quad core 24gb Ram 1.5 tb ssd nvme plus saved 4 thousand by going this route if anyone is interested. You can always upgrade the ram and ssd on this laptop and screen bezzels are super thin. 2k display really nice.
I have the same LG 17” (and the MBP 16”). Not having a dGPU in the LG 17” is the only knock against it. When connected to an eGPU it gets way too hot and starts throttling. As a stand-alone machine, it’s great- but if you want to use an external 4K monitor, you’ll notice a little dip in performance. If you want/need MacOS and don’t want a hackintosh, then the MBP 16” is your best choice out of the lineup.
Joey O that’s not necessary true. Look at the 2016-2019 they are all Junk. Unless you get apple care for $400 extra for three years which is technically 2 years since they say the 1 free year is not included. And the repairability for MacBooks is 1 of 10. Junk man. It’s all a scheme to keep you spending more money quicker telling you that a 1 year old computer is old. “Don’t believe the Hype”
I am curious. What did you do with you “old “ 16 inch MacBook Pro? Did you sell it? Did you trade it in for credit on your new one? Or did you just keep it in your stable of laptops?
Consider this a request for a video on gaming on your higher end 16” MBP!! Thank you!! I’m debating between getting this or waiting to see if the 13” MBP gets any of these new design updates sometime in 2020.
go1 it was the base model. 2.6GHz 6-core 9th-generation Intel Core i7 processor Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz AMD Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory 512GB SSD storage¹ 16-inch Retina display with True Tone Touch Bar and Touch ID Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
its an amazing computer. Im really happy with my 13 inch base model with 16gb of ram for photo editing. 16 inch is too big for me to travel around. Im still getting used to the keyboard since the tactile feedback is a bit hard... compared to the 13 inch 2011 lol
Darn I thought this gen got rid of that thing where it can peak power use to the point where it discharges even when plugged in. It's only a few percent, but I don't like the feeling of what that does to a battery on constant heavy use.
I would LOVE to see a comparison of 4gb vs 8gb videoram in real life gaming. I have the high end base model like you did, don’t do video editing but I am curios about gaming in boot camp. And what about the 32 gob ram? Where do you think you need it?
Ok i might have to work on a followup then. The 32GB of Ram really hasn’t made too much of a difference for me yet, but i think i’ll see the benefits on bigger/longer video projects the most.
VRAM won’t make a difference in gaming at all but it does in video editing. so if you’re going to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB VRAM specifically for gaming, you won’t see any difference in performance.
Isn't the battery and charger issue (discharging under heavy load) something that's dangerous OR at least harmful to the overall health of the MBP16 battery?
the turbo boost is only on 1 core when the cpu is under 50 °C and probably some other conditions. We need to thank intel for their weird marketing. My i7 8700k has a turbo boost of 4.7ghz but when more than one core is used to actually only boosts up to 4.3ghz. Now mobile cpu's turbo boost work probably different from desktop cpu's
So does the extra 4Gb (8GB) with the 5500m a worthy upgrade in Final Cut Pro editing? Another, 32GB Ram upgrade or 5500m 8Gb if you have to choose between the two. Thanks
Lack of WiFi 6 will make it to be outdated down the road in 2 years. Now no one would notice but when all devices Including apple's own iPhone have wifi6 then 3200$ MacBook pro with no WiFi6 is ridiculous. I wish it was at least upgradable
they will update with mini led, because Samsung charges too much for oled and burn in concerns with osx dock and other elements.not sure if they will ever go 4k because of batter drain/gpu power drain of at least 24% more over their almost 3K display.
Awesome stuff Gregg. Love the channel... Found it through your gadget cast podcast :) what are the domains for gadget cast and your gregsgadgets website.. I would love to check them out too. :) have a great week.. Dan. Hey from Australia
my mbp 16 has same specs as yours, once I tried to play age of empire 3 and right after I opened up the game, the fan kicked in was like super loud, since then, I do not dare to play any game any more. BTW I was running the game in parallel desktop windows

My only regret with mine was not upgrading the RAM even more and going for more than 2 TB. Bummer.
whatRAM did you get?
@@scotta5743 32GB. I hit that wall yesterday and realized I needed more. I wasn't expecting that at all.
@@ThisIsTechToday can't you return it and buy a new one? I've never been to an apple store so I don't know much

Wonderful review! I can’t wait to get mine in a few months, thanks for letting me know more about your experience
Yeah, we want you to test the one with higher graphics card model (8 gb) for gaming!
Hands down the best reviewer on youtube right now, good job, keep the good work
Thanks for your videos
Thank you 🙏 You’re too kind.

6:16 is one of the best and fun part of the ad in this video, Greg. Lol! 😆
Did you pay full retail price for your MacBook? If not this isn’t a honest review is it.
I got the base i9 which works well for me. The only problem I’ve had is some freezing in Lightroom but I think they’ll fix that later.

MacBook pro 2019 Is this the m1 or?
If you need windows i.e bootcamp and wanna game, the 2019 pro, everything else is better on the m1
I even don't have laptop but still love to watch this video
It’s worthy to go from a mbp 15” 2019 to a mbp 16” ?
do u think this still worth in 2024?

Is stable?
Apple will invent it’s own GPU for Mac and MacBook and Mac Pro. Tim with ARM Base. And The GameMac will have A14XS Chip.
But I thought 16GB of Ram are totally future proof. No???
Of course Apple will update it again in a few months, probably with WiFi 6 and better CPUs.
that’s what i’m waiting for, then i will buy it

try playing it bootcamp, instead of parallel because if use parallel you are using a virtualization.
