Fearful Harmony and Personified Fear is actually part of the startup, listen closely and you can hear them. The ones in the end are just glitched out, they normally play on lower sound levels, and they just start mixing up to a high pitch screeching noise.
They are the PS1 trying to play the startup but lagging really badly. E.g. Personified Fear happens because the PS1 tries to render the model data from the disc (the PS logo is part of the disc and is a 3D model), but if it's corrupted then the data might be something the console can't really render, but it tries to do that anyway and lags because it's way too much to handle. By extent, the processor is left with very little time to do anything else (including sound).
@@kosmasraptis8374 It is a 3D mode, which you can tell from the polygons, but the commonly shared image is just a mockup made in Unreal and not the actual model used in the startup.
I could actually feel my heart dropping when the Personified Fear screech sounded. I can only imagine how terrifying it would be to experience the real thing at like 3 am.
Fearful harmony is caused by the chip telling the bios it's a play station disc. And so the console is (trying) to load the content of that disc. Am I right?
The ps1 startup is just a bunch of sound samples at different speeds mixed together, the that sounds are part of the bios, being played different then normal, this, those sounds, you can see for yourself by getting you hands on a ps1 bios and extracting or playing back the sound with sound (I do not develop, or are affiliated with the development of sound)
One day in 2020, I booted up the PS1 to play some Crash Bandicoot 1. I got Personified Fear. I couldn’t believe it. Then, I turned it off, and turned it on again. The regular startup came this time. I got it again, and I haven’t got it since. This is a true story.

Software License data is stored on the CD PlayStaton 3D logo and license text + region is a part of software license, so if you will get to this screen without license/with corrupt disc, you will see only "PlayStation" writing .TIM that is only thing stored in OSROM

Fearful Harmony and Personified Fear is actually part of the startup, listen closely and you can hear them.
The ones in the end are just glitched out, they normally play on lower sound levels, and they just start mixing up to a high pitch screeching noise.
I just heard it then it was right at the beginning

2:10 Congratulations. You have discovered the red screen of death.
Fearful harmony is caused by the chip telling the bios it's a play station disc. And so the console is (trying) to load the content of that disc. Am I right?
exactly.
it is trying to find cnf file on cd to start EXE from, but it struggles, resulting in lags, and finally freezes
Yes
The ps1 startup is just a bunch of sound samples at different speeds mixed together, the that sounds are part of the bios, being played different then normal, this, those sounds, you can see for yourself by getting you hands on a ps1 bios and extracting or playing back the sound with sound (I do not develop, or are affiliated with the development of sound)
Fearful harmony is caused by when the ps sees an unrecognised disk and plays wind chimes but it’s lagging so the screen glitches and the sound lags
