I've got to say, the ps5 startup sound and home screen ambience with audiophile equipment is up there with the ps2 and dare I say even surpasses it to a certain extent. The ps2 aside from its initial loud bells transitions into a sound that closely resembles gusts of wind while the ps5 has such a sweet orchestral structure to it as well as a nice low end bass
0:04 - 0:19 - The demo disc with WipEout, Jumping Flash and Battle Arena Toshinden, beating my first JRPG in Suikoden, breeding chocobos in FFVII so I could get Knights of the Round, the underrated awesomeness of Colony Wars … that 15 second tune brings back so many memories!
Oh yeah… colony wars was absolutely my favorite game. Almost wish they would do some sort of reboot. Eve Valkyrie for psvr is probably about the closest thing to it.
Ahh yes. A time when the only thing to ever want was a playstation. Back then there was no XBox and Sega Saturn desperately tried to compete. To the older generations XBox doesn't even compare because XBox wasn't there for us in the good old days. PS was the god of gaming systems. MGS was the cherry on top of the sundae boys and girls. 😌
I got the PS1 a couple years after it had been released and had loads of games out already, and I was upgrading from a Sega Genesis. The leap in graphics from 16 bit 2D side scrolling to 3D Polygonal rendering was so huge it absolutely blew my mind. That startup sound was like opening the gates to gaming heaven to me when I was in high school. Then I got the PS2 at launch my first year of college and there were such shitty launch titles that I had to play the freakin' Bouncer again and again for months until some real games came out. Yeah, we eventually got some of the greatest games ever made on that console, but that first impression was hard to shake. I hated that startup sound for being associated with crap at launch.
The nostalgia of turning on the playstation in the middle of the night, sneakily to hop on with the boys… then: 1:52 dramatically gets it taken for a week.
The only playstation I had was the first one, but it has been engrained in my memory. Hearing that sound at 6am on the weekend is something I will never forget.

Ps3 was my first, i still have it and the games, i use to play on my big bro's save files because i was scared to do missions 😅, years later the save file suddenly got erased ever since my big brother gave up on playing. But now im playing the same game again and played with missions
Sony did a great job with these sound effects, all of them are welcoming and iconic, but I got to give it to the ps1, that sound is just one level above all, both the ps1 and win95 greeting sounds are some of the best composed sound bites ever
I have the PS and PS2 startups on my PS4. PS2 will always be my most nostalgic though. I probably spent more time playing that console than any other besides Xbox One which I still have. However, my nostalgia gaming always goes back to mostly PS2-era games like Kingdom Hearts, GTA, Splinter Cell, WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain, and many others.

So everyone had to wait 18 years? Seems a bit long...

Appreciate all the efforts put in making these great startup sounds. So many memories.
I still remember it like it was yesterday. It was late 90’s. My older brother just got a ps1. We bought game magazines to get free demo discs to try out different games. We got spyro, tomb raider, tekken 2 and Alundra. Those were great times.
Yeah, if we could only get back to those years.
The psp startup is so nostalgic for me
Nothing will beat the PS2 startup or sound in my opinion that is iconic and I have such good memories of PS2
I love the PS3 for that reason
Ps4 has the most relaxing music

From ps1 to ps4. Had all of them. Those were just pure and innocent times man. Dude thank you for uploading this beautiful piece of my childhood. 😇
Honestly
0:04 - 0:19 - The demo disc with WipEout, Jumping Flash and Battle Arena Toshinden, beating my first JRPG in Suikoden, breeding chocobos in FFVII so I could get Knights of the Round, the underrated awesomeness of Colony Wars … that 15 second tune brings back so many memories!
Colony Wars? Ahhhh, a man of culture.
Those pizza hut demo disc's were so dope

I remember playing Spyro on the PS1, good times back then, that sounds is so nostalgic, and Spider-Man good times to play on the PS1
Both of those were my early childhood games, along with an Area 51 game for the ps1
I bought Spyro The Dragon (1st one) on ps3 when the console came out, so happy that it was available on the store even if it's a ps1 game :D
Everytime the PS1 was turned on, you got goosebumps with those armonics.
Hasn't happened again with any other.
I remember the joy I have whenever my dad turn on my ps1...it's like a heaven sound.
I remember the anguish I felt whenever my dad turned off my ps1. It was like the sound of Vadar screaming. ahahahaha
Hey, thanks for reminding me with these memories
The PS5 startup music sounds like the music when you are choosing a galaxy to travel to in Super Mario Galaxy 1 especially this part 3:32

I seriously can’t wait to be able to hear that ps5 startup in person. Just a couple more year’s left to wait ☺️
