For over a year now, I’ve eaten roughly the same each week. I lost 75lbs over several months (from 255 to 180) and then stabilised and didn’t deviate more than a pound or so. Then the last four or five weeks I’ve lost another three to four pounds. Still eating the same. Our bodies regulate…they are far wiser than we are.
Even if you try to be positive, that is misconstrued as something you are bragging about. Even if you say nothing about your lifestyle, I now find I talk to fewer and fewer people.
I am a 64-year-old woman who started this nine months ago and I’ve lost 27 pounds and feel great. Each pound has been a slow loss but how great I feel is more important to me. Clearly the weight is coming off. I wish I started doing this sooner.
Hey I’m 64 too! I have just started with the carnivore diet and have eased into it, about 6 weeks. I am feeling better and still learning about the process. Can you share any of your experiences…ie tips that have helped you?
@@debraabshire9291I’m 64 too and have been carnivore 11 months. Sugar & processed foods are very addictive. It was very hard the first few months because my husband was not changing his diet. I used brown butter to help with sugar cravings. There are you tube videos on how to make it. I’m now off blood pressure meds and anxiety meds. I feel better than I ever remember feeling. It’s so much easier to walk. My joints don’t hurt. I was headed towards becoming diabetic and had lots of skin tags that are going away. Best of luck on your journey. Stick with it you will see improvements. Looking back it has been worth the journey. It has been slow for me but the weight is coming off. Yes, I would like it to come off faster but I’m getting there. On days you are craving sugar or junk eat good quality butter. I like Kerry Gold. It taste great.
I had a weight stall 6 months in and then started gaining weight again, but never changed my waist size, I realized it was my muscle growth, my testosterone levels had been climbing, happy man at 60!
I’m thinking 2 years is probably a good window to wait for all the benefits of a proper diet amongst those of us over 50 wanting to overcome a lifetime of abuse to our bodies.
It's taken me longer. I was doing dirty keto. I used a lot of non sugar sweeteners that was stalling my progress. There's so many pitfalls but the carnivore diet makes it almost phuck up proof. I'm 53 and we were probably taught the same lies for most of our lives. It's really sad what the SAD diet has done to many Americans.
I'm my experience there's a lot of slips along the way and one must perpetually be prepared to pick up the trail once more and continue to watch out for new ones as we go.
I’ve been carnivore for 3 yrs now, lost 68lbs in first six months, then I did get stalled for almost 1.5 years after that. I stayed the course, cause I kept experiencing so many other changes. About a month ago I started losing weight again. Now down another 13 lbs. I started out at 308 lbs.
THANK YOU for posting this! I've been so upset about my stall and all these people in carnivore community have been giving me loads of advice and overwhelming me. I'm not eating that much. Only OMAD. Maybe hormones. I'm 62. But then when I'm posting on Homestead How they start posting FAILURES, "maybe your over eating" maybe this maybe that and etc and I was about to quit! I was really upset! I can't eat any less than I am and I don't have enough money to eat more geez!!!!!!!! All labwork are great. My body comp is great! I'm happy but weight is frustrating because I have another Total knee replacement coming again. I don't wanna miss my timeline for that. I have incorporated omega 3 caps, more fats, ghee in my coffee and etc. I've noticed my neck, legs and ankles are much smaller with the extra fat in the last few days. I'm not gonna check my weight for another two weeks. But again thank you Dr Chaffee for putting me at ease.
Try not to stress about it if possible. Kelly Hogan and Steak and Butter Gal both said they actually gained weight (around 20 lbs) for 6 months on carnivore before it finally started falling off on it's own. Unfortunately some of us just need to heal first before the weight loss comes. It'll happen for you, just keep going. 🙂↕️
@@susanwagner403 I explained to the surgeon and asked for a waiver to go ahead with surgery but no! He is firm. When I was active duty military, I was 10 lbs over BUT they gave me the caliber punch test. Nothing to pinch! I passed at 142 lbs. The military doctor said that 132 lbs was too skinny for me and that I would look good at 150 lbs. I was more muscular than fat at the time. I think this time around I have to work on fasting to get my fatty liver mid section to go away and again no problem with butt, legs and arms...just buff.
I went from Keto to Carnivore a couple of months ago..Not a bit of change on the scale for about 5 weeks ..I was losing fat for sure though- my clothes told me that. Finally, got a 5 pound drop almost overnight a few days ago.
At the start of the world shutdown in march 2020 I started keto and lost 216 lbs and 26 inches from just my waist 59 year old male body with no surgery. 18 months ago I started ketovore and 2024 pure carnivore. I did this to get rid of my back fat, as well as the fat under my arms and chest. My body composition has dramatically evolved, I have very little loose skin, and the stubborn back fat is disappearing along with the loose skin there. 18 months ago, my weight started to rise, but just a few months ago my weight started coming back down along with the hardest fats for me to lose since I've been ultra morbidly obese all my life. Since I live in Hawaii, my girlfriend next year is to go to the beach and no one can tell I was ever 406 pounds as all of the scarring and stretch marks are all fading.
@@Kitiwake yes, I do not use unnatural light. I'm a certified lighting engineer and I know the difference between the two, and the limitations of all of the lighting technologies that they currently use for health to reasons. There is so much marketing information out there to get you to buy products that is making people crazy and they're ending up with different kinds of illnesses and diseases from the lack of going in the natural sunlight. when combine with highly process foods and oils using artificial light has super unintended deadly consequences
I started carnivore on May 11 after years of being on and off keto. I immediately developed nausea to food and lost from my ideal weight of 118 pounds down to 103.8 since then. The nausea has passed but I still can’t eat a whole lot of meat at each meal. No one ever talks about this problem. I have added back in a little yogurt. I eat a lot of fat and I’m in strong ketosis with my blood sugars back down to normal. I’m not sure what to do except hang in there. I am 81 years old.
Have you tried changing the type of meat or what time of day you eat it? I eat lamb mostly and usually around 3pm. I can eat heaps then quite easily, more so than beef. Good luck, keep it up, you are amazing to take this new way of eating on!
Try heavy whipping cream if you can find it without other junk in it, or half and half without junk in it. I pour over ice, maybe some water added in, drink with food. Gives you extra calories and makes you want to eat more.
Sometimes meat makes me nauseous or just doesn’t sit well ( I have long Covid and it messes with my digestive system). Sometimes, I can’t seem to eat enough. One thing that really helps: run meat through a food processor and add some spices: Indian or Mexican, etc., and maybe a little broth. It’s easier to consume and digest more. Too much fat alone makes me nauseous as well, but mixed in with the above in small amounts adds favor. Try mixing different meat varieties. For me, the nausea, and meat aversion comes and goes, but these approaches help.
This is timely for me- 6 months at this- not loosing weight- lost inches and a lot of health problems resolving but still need my meds- going to just keep going and trying to improve the carnivore regiment - sometimes I am sloppy carnivore- helpful video -thank u so so much
@sugansugan56 you're welcome. There is a whole list of things you can do to lower inflammation which is the gateway to manipulating how fast and what you actually heal
sometimes our bodies get in such disrepair it takes time to get back. i call it Flipping a House... no matter who many workers you hire.. they can not fix up a old house in a few days.. it takes a while.... but once the work is done.. the house is beautiful and vibrant..
I dropped 30lbs immediately due to glycogen stores. Then I stalled for months. I had to get honest with myself. I was eating pork rinds, plus sour cream. Dropped those, plus ALL dairy, and weight started dropping quickly again.
My entire diet is now 6 eggs, and 1-1 1/2 pounds of beef (ground, shredded pot roast or a steak), eaten OMAD or broken into 2 meals 4 hours apart. I like to switch that up, don’t want the metabolism to get into a routine, lol. I’m still using hot sauce for ground beef, and 0 sugar creamer for my coffee- I don’t seem to have any issues with those and don’t plan to stop.
I haven't done any of that, lol. I just know my clothes fit better, my inflammation has gone way down and every time I look jn the mirror I am in awe of my own gorgeousness 😅.
3/4 weeks in and I do def feel I look more attractive - amazing. I only discuss 1/10th or less of what I’m doing with my partner he says “whatever you’re doing keep doing it” Also libido holding steady day to day (rather than tanking after ovulation for 2 weeks previously) and no PMS anxiety. I’m f50. UPDATE a month later: period started this morning and again, zero PMS, only the tiniest of mini cramps yesterday that didn’t hurt at all, more like little contractions, and HIGH libido (lowered today haha but fair enough). Also I’ve had stressy work tasks this last week but I’ve been so calm - any moment I feel my cortisol go up Ive had a spoon of butter. I wonder if that’s helping.
So true it takes time to loose weight. Lost about 10 pounds the first 2 months then nothing until the 5th month. Now it's coming off every day!! Yay! Stick with it.
@carlavv5302 yes,we are all different. I researched iodine and started taking 1 drop a day. Think it has made a difference too. It's a journey of discovery!
I feel so good! I've been couple of years carnivore and tried different ways. I found out strict lion diet is best for me. Funny thing is that even I eat simply Rib Eye Steak which is considered " expensive" my grocery shopping is now almost half from past. First I ate big 1 lb steaks and more, tried eggs and butter and other meats but learned I do best with just Rib eyes. When I started to do just rib eye I slowly started to need less meat per day. I eat now about ½ lb steak every day, salt and drink water and that's it. I'm feeling good, doing my light exercise and not anymore losing weight but naturally showing some muscle. My body is still changing, showing more waistline as my skin is shrinking too. Together with carnivore I stared new sleeping rhythm. I sleep from 9 to 4 as a clock. Seems to be my natural cycle. I don't use alarm. Huge difference to my mood and brainwork (before I barely got to bed before 12 am) I turn 50 in one month and could not be happier 50kg/168 cm. Same measurements I had before my first child in age 23. Yay! I have four kids, almost all adults and had lot's of health struggles in years before starting carnivore
i am noticing this as well already in my 3rd month of carnivore...i just either cant eat or dont want much food... usually go 3/4 lbs of 80/20 Ground Beef and 3 eggs and i am full for the rest of the day... after 4 or 5 hours i may eat a small steak or a few burgers patties ... but alot of times... 1 meal a day is fine
After shedding the initial water weight in the first few weeks, my weight loss stalled, but i could see my body composition change. It seemed like my body was closed for maintenance as i slowly began to feel better and better. Finally, on month 3, the weight began to drop and dropped quite quickly. Additionally, i was shedding a lot of body fat and still was maintaining muscle mass. The funny thing is that for the first 3 months i was working out in the gym like a fiend, and had basically no weight loss. A stopped going to the gym for the next three months, and that's when the shedding happened. Go figure? I hit my goal and lost about 40 pounds and 12% body fat. Now i'm running on all cylinders and look and feel so good, everyday.
No problem whatsoever with you swearing from time to time because it's actually pretty funny since you are such a positive, calm, well spoken super intelligent person that is clearly concerned with optimizing everyone's health journey and it just shows authentic sentiment towards others that are not..😄
I need to gain not lose.Im 73 yr old male Carnivore for 15 months. When I started march 25th 23 I was 120lbs @6ft tall. I'm up to 155:lbs now low body fat
I been on a carnivore plan for nearly 1 year, I work out with weights 3 times a week. I only weight myself on the doctors scale, 6 months ago I weighted in at 265.5 ,last week I went to.my Dr.and I weighted 265.5.The Dr asked me if I feel stronger, I said absolutely, no doubt. I am 🔥 burning fat,and with all the good Protein I eat I'm also building muscle. I eat 26 eggs per week, fasting insulin is 6.8. Not worried about my 172 LDL
Yeah, it took about 5 months for me to feel the energy boost, but when it finally hit there was no stopping me. It was incredible! Before it hit I felt like I couldn't move., like I was fighting against gravity with an added 100lbs on my body. During the entire time I lost 30lbs, now stalled, but I'm almost at maintenance level, only another 10 lbs to lose. Feel the body changing, now walking about 8k-10k per day (3.5 to 4 miles per day). People, hang-in there, it will happen.
I started keto in 2019, lost 24lbs in 6 months. Im now 71, in 2022 i felt I'd got too skinny, so started to up the carbs to under 50 a day, from under 20 a day. I put all the weight back on over 2 years!. Started carnivore 8 weeks ago. I lost 4 lbs quickly, then stuck. BUT, my thighs are slimmer, my arms no longer have wings, my stomach has lost a little bulge. Walking is my main exercise, and i use 1kg hand weights a couple of times a week. I just dont want the T2Diabetes both my parents developed in their 50s. So far so good.
Very small anecdote. I just turned 38 on July 5th. My wife and I had a fun weekend and then I determined I was going to try this carnivore “diet”. This week I have had bacon, butter, ghee, more ribeye than I can count, some scallops, sausage, just all kinds of meat. After 1 week of trying the carnivore diet I weighed myself, I was anticipating a couple of pounds lost, if I was lucky. Nope, 9 lbs. I went from 326 to 317 today. Now, this is a very small sample size and clearly anecdotal evidence. But I can say, I have felt better, and this “diet” if you can all it that, now has my full attention, because I honestly don’t know how I lost 9 lbs with foods I have been told my whole life are bad for me. Wish me luck!!
A crista is a fold in the inner membrane of a mitochondrion. The name is from the Latin for crest or plume, and it gives the inner membrane its characteristic wrinkled shape, providing a large amount of surface area for chemical reactions to occur on. This aids aerobic cellular respiration, because the mitochondrion requires oxygen. Cristae are studded with proteins, including ATP synthase.
Yes! I just made a video about this. I lost zero lbs this month but my body is recomping rapidly and so easily on this way of eating. It feels too easy, honestly, so grateful ❤
I'm a 55 yr old woman. I started Jan 1 2024 and I have not lost a pound. Jan I did the Lion Diet. I am not on any medication nor do I use painkillers like Tylenol or Advil. But I am sleeping better and people keep commenting on how great my skin and hair look. But I still have not lost a single pound.
I am 59, started carnivore Feb 1, 2024. Have gained a few pounds. Pants getting tighter. But I think the weight gain is muscle. Blood sugars slowly dropping from pre-diabetic level. Sleep still not great with restless leg issues, but my mood is better. The healing just takes longer in some people. Hang in there.
I'm 55 also - started 2.5 weeks ago and haven't lost a pound. It's a little frustrating - I'm also extremely tired. I know I need to stick with it to see results but its pretty disappointing.
I lost 25 kg slowly over one year. Then nothing further for another year in fact gained back 3kg. The 2 months ago dropped 4kg quickly... And now weight between 59 and 61 ... But body shape and muscle strength is amazing. I am a 64 year old female, horse rider and horse massage therapist and it feels I now could continue to work amd ride for ever. Whereas before going carnivore i had decided to stop riding and was preparing to retire fron doing the horse massage... Carnivore saved me...
I’m 68 and my BP was dipping way down during my workouts, the last time before adjusting my meds it was down to 85/46 and I had to lay down. I dropped one of my twice-a-day doses of 25 mg Losartan and feeling much better after working out. My BP is steadily around 120/76 and no longer dipping so low after working out. I hope to drop the 5 mg amlodipine and the other 25 mg losartan eventually. I’ve lost 14 pounds on carnivore and 83 pounds prior to that using intermittent fasting. Hopefully, if I can get down to a normal weight, I’ll be able to drop the Pantoprazole I’m taking for GERD.
@AgoraphobicCarnivoreAmlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. Magnesium is also a calcium channel blocker, so supplementing with magnesium might help you wean off the amlodipine.
Thank you so much for answering the first question! I am experienced the same thing. I am 63 F, Strictly carnivore for 11 weeks now, lost four pounds the first week and nothing since then. I have gone down a size which is great. My bp is much better also lots of energy, no more brain fog, seeing some hair regrowth in a thinned out area. I have been very discouraged about the lack of weight loss though. I really needed to hear this!
I lost 10 pounds in the first month but I realized for me it was inflammation and water. I am almost to month four and I have lost 1 more pound, but my clothes are getting baggy and the inches around my waist are getting smaller. I am still healing from my auto immune disorder but things have been slowly getting better and better. I don't crave sugar, alcohol or carbs which has been life changing for me, I never realized how I had tied my emotions to food for so long until starting this journey. Its forced me to take a very hard look at my own behaviors and choices. At first the healing hurt, but now I realize I can build myself back stronger.
I do feel that getting on the scale is a major bummer for your self esteem when u have been on carnivore/ketovore and it shows no progress. It’s really hard to break yourself from the cycle of using a scale when most weight loss programs start with weighing yourself. Now that I have been on mostly Carnivore for the past year I have just recently intorduced rowing for 30 minutes and walking on treadmill for 30 minutes daily. Was a bit upset when my weight when up a few pounds but am noticing the change in how my clothes fit. I’ve been overweight most my life, currently am 62 yrs old. It’s gonna take some time but do encourage everyone to keep trying and not give in. I started at 296 lbs a few years ago but once I became serious about losing the excess moving to keto then carnivore I’m now down to 172. I’m 5 ft and goal weight is 135. Will get there, one ounce at a time. Appreciate all you do to keep us well informed on how to adjust our journeys.
Update for everyone. Carnivore is doing great things for me. I am now down to 162 and my body has changed tremendously. Went to my yearly female check in and the dr was over the moon at my progress. Been with her for many years. Still can’t get over the amount of fat loss and how it looks. I will consider getting the loose skin removed but won’t do anything until I see what it looks like after I reach my goal weight. To tell you the truth I was really skeptical as to how much rowing was going to change me, but the combination of eating and just that small bit of exercise made the difference. I can tell you all that I know it’s hard to change the habits of a lifetime but the carnivore lifestyle has made it so much easier. Slow and steady wins the race so just be patient and remember take it one ounce at a time!
Hormones out of whack for a given individual is usually the reason for no weight loss, assuming strict carnie. We didn't get sick and unhealthy over night and for some it can takes years literally years not days weeks or months to correct the balance. Some might need a kick thru medical intervention to get the balance back. The old saying, time heals all wounds.
After one and a half year carnivore I started fasting sometimes 7 days and sometimes 5 days in a row. That went easy, because I already had ketones working for me eating 2 meals a day in a 6 hours window. It went so well. From moment 1 I felt better and often when I wanted to starts eating my body even protested, my body wanted to go on fasting. So funny. And I had yelow stool and I think, that were poisoness things in there, what my body wanted to throw out. I would not have dared to do this before, but after one and a half year eating meat I was shure, that I stored enough nutrients in my body. And now we have started doing cold showers every morning and that also makes me feel amazing!!! I am so glad that I added these cold showers. In the beginning it was tought, but now I already am looking forward for the morning to take that cold shower. Cold showers are doing so much for your whole body. Amazing !!! Thank you so much for all your great video´s! Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!
@@bronwynst4280it's ok. As long as they just eat all the meat, it will heal itself! No doctor is as powerful of a healer as a slab of wagyu!!! Don't think, just meat! Tons of people on tren swear by it, so I'm gonna start right now!
Just finished first month Carni. Started 133lbs, 5’7” F, dropped to 129 first week and now gaining. Flat stomach initially now I have a pooch. 5x heavy training. No change and frustrated. Too much fat causes me diarrhea(no gallbladder). Sticking to it but makes me depressed looking at myself.
I started at 118# (which I was very happy with) quickly dipped below 100# which was scary af. Then the scale jumped to 128 very rapidly, I'm guessing due to adding butter. But now I can't get the scale to move at ALL. I'm also 5'7 😊
Excellent information. Now carnivore for five months (comment date July 2, 2024) and eliminating those badness evils that were causing me harm was so easy to do. 🤗
Thank you. I really needed to see this. I know my inflammation has gone down a lot but i havent lost any weight AND I'm in my second week. That's when most people loose a bunch of weight. I feel less inflamed for sure.
No problem! It can just take longer for some people, but the weight loss/fat loss will happen. Just focus on the positives you are experiencing to keep you going!
So glad you shared your expertise doctor, my body needs healing, so NOW I know why I'm not losing weight. It's been 2 months, I'm not feeling better yet, but I'm going to keep going and trust the process.
I've been carnivore since January 2023. I weighed in at 16 stone (224 lbs) when I started and 18 moths later I am weighing in at 11 1/2 stone (163 llbs) It wasn't a smooth weight loss and I had stalls but I've got to the top end of my ideal weight despite having had ME/CFS - all symptoms have disappeared after years of severe issues. I have to take tablets for epilepsy so another good reason for this WOE. AND a rubbish start to 2024 with flu which took a bit longer to clear, then covid... resulting in extended bedrest which caused me to have a sciatica flare up. It sounds as though I was a walking disaster and this diet wasn't doing me any good but I stuck with it and I feel fine now. BUT years of achilles tendonitis, joint pains, herniated discs in my lower back and neck cause zero pain and horrible crunchy neck noises when I turn my head have all completely disappeared. The only thing that really caused me problems when I was poorly is that I had a change in taste and this made finishing my meals difficult because everything tasted like cardboard - not the epicurian experience all of us like to enjoy. To make sure I was eating enough I tried adding more salt or ANYTHING that would help make sure I was eating enough. Recovering was not a time to be fasting long term. The only way I could make sure I as able to eat the good stuff was to add cheap tomato ketchup, but not eating the good stuff wasn't an option. It appears that we have to compromise at times and the ketchup didn't seem to affect my ketone levels. What I'm trying to say is that it can be a series of ups and downs but it's worth it.
Thank you for sharing your story. ❤ This is the first time I’ve read of someone with herniated discs in their neck and back along with the crunchy neck noises going away. This is one of the things I deal with daily and would love to see go away. Thank you for the encouragement!!!😊
@@lavenderskies2094 It was an unexpected good side effect! I had been doing lots of chin tucks to try and improve my neck cracking and it's not great living with a neck that feels as though it's crunching itself away! (Poor posture spending hours at a computer and doing handcrafts/artwork...) Even my recent sciatica flare soon healed once I worked out the best way to lie and stop trapping and irritating the nerve. Last year I was mucking out my horses stable daily - I could barely comb out a mane during my ME/CFS years. It does take time but you suddenly realise one day that pain issues that dominated your thoughts are just no longer there. And I can sit in the sun without burning, my skin has improved - no wrinkles, breakouts, etc, and my natural hair colour grows at the roots again which is crazy for a 65 year old! Good luck with improving your health ☺
yeah i am in this conundrum ...my goal is to lose 10 lbs a month...and so far at the end october 2024 i only lost 4 lbs this month... however my arms and legs are showing big veins popping out and some new separation visible in my arms muscles that was never there before... so while my weight loss has stalled... i am seeing alot of changes ...
The good doctor is being overly optimistic about weight loss. I'm 3.5 years carnivore and lost weight in the first six months then stopped. I lost 70 pounds but still have 60 pounds to go, yet have made zero progress in 3 full years since. 99.9% carnivore the whole time. It's fully worth it due to the partial weight loss and relief from gastro issues and diabetes. But I'm unfortunate proof that a long term obese carnivore is a thing.
Do you use any non sugar sweeteners, like allouse, stevia, erythritol, etc...? I did and it was stalling my weight loss. As soon as I ditched the fake sugars, I dropped the last stubborn bit of fat on my mid section.
Thank you!!!! In my 5th year and stalled for two years … 40 # I want to lose. Intermittent fasting window small( 4 hours ) increased walking DID help me! Now I’m seeing new numbers on the scale!!!! Just eating meat sure was not enough for me. Not eating enough according to most- yet not losing.. changing it up is helping me Trial & error! Hope you find your answers
I thought I was the only one. Nearly 5 years carnivore. Lost 70lbin my first year, then somehow slowly put 20lb back on and have been stuck at an average of 200lb - give or take a few lbs, for about 3 years now. I feel like I've tried everything and the fat will not shift. I have about 45lb to lose to get to an ideal weight for my height - 5ft6in. I feel like I'm gonna give up. My set point isn't moving. But I'm loving the health benefits of carnivore and that to me is very important to me. I wish the fat would go though...
@No_Frills_Carnivore I am in the same boat you are. Haven't had any weight loss on carnivore after 6 months. I like the ease of this way of eating. Feeling depressed.
My son in law has epilepsy, last seizure left him on a ventilator for a couple days. I finally talked him into trying the Carnivore or keto diet but told him to consult his doctor first. Well had to take him to the ER the other day and the neurologist on staff told him that the keto diet would cause his seizures to be way worse, to not change his diet. I can not believe what I was hearing. So I told him to talk to his neurologist that knows his history. But can you believe that doctor told him that? I keep praying his neurologist knows about keto and knows what he is talking about, cause the hospital one is clueless!
I figure I ate badly for alot of years and I cannot expect my body chemistry to be perfect in 640 days. However, my A1c is now 5.2, B/P 116/68 and great normal blood sugars and therapeutic ketone levels so I'm getting there. Mostly at 72, I feel 30 again in every way. My body chemistry is healing and this is my permanent lifestyle now, even when my family thinks otherwise.
Just shy of 10 months on carnivore for me, but yesterday I stopped following it strict. I lost 32lbs - 10lbs over my target. I'm now 165lbs at 6'1. My wrists and fingers are super skinny now. My biceps are much smaller. No matter what I do, I cannot gain back a single pound. I eat 20+ oz of fatty red meat, 8 eggs, a ton of butter, almost 1 L of whole milk per day - nothing. I'm super ripped with single digit BMI but I need to gain back some. Everyone thinks I'm sick or something as I use to look like a big (ish) muscular guy. I lift 4-5 days per week and won't put back on any muscle to increase the scales. I love carnivore, but it just shows you that everyone reacts different. It blows my mind that ppl can actually gain weight on this or struggle to loose. Carnivore has my metabolism running wild. Yesterday for the first time in almost 10 months I ate 2 large potatoes with my 20oz steak and 4 eggs and 4 cups of cottage cheese. I went to bed at 168.7lbs - woke back up at 165lbs. I will monitor the scales and adjust accordingly but hopefully I will start to gain with carbs. Wanted to share with those in case they are going thru the same thing or if you have any tips for me.... My blood work and everything else is fine. I really don't want to do the carb thing but I don't see another way to gain.
You are most likely insulin suppressed which leads to muscle loss and inability to gain muscle. Dr Berry and Dr Cywes talk about this. Yes, some people need some carbs.
Oh that is very low. I’m not used to ounces, as I use grams so thought 20oz was a lot, but 1.5lb is nothing. I’m 5’3 female and I eat 1-1.5lb meat and 4 eggs, and dairy/day as a condiment, with butter used for cooking for weight loss. I thought most men ate 2-3lb ish for getting lean and at least that to maintain. The amount listed above would be ideal for someone who wants to be 145-155lb if you look at the 1-2g protein per lb of lean mass ratio. I second what @aaronlohr8477 said, you don’t need carbs you need to really increase your protein. Your muscles are starving.
@@azarialr6639 Appreciate the reply :) 20oz steak, 8 eggs, tons of butter, almost a container of cottage cheese and a litre of whole milk is a lot of food for me. I never ate that much before and was very muscular. Yesterday, I went for all you can eat ribs and ate 4 whole racks - everyone i was with including the server looked at me like I was nuts lol. Anyhow, I simply can't eat anymore on this diet as it will be a full time job of force feeding. Thanks again for the reply and info!
THIS IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DIET. It is a diet to regain your health and provide your body with all the nutrients it needs to thrive. Once your body feels healthy enough, and only then, will it will feel safe enough to start using its fat stores. Focus on health and your body will eventually find a healthy weight. What you also need to remember is that the healthy weight for your body may not be the weight you want to be. If you body 'stalls' a few kgs above what you want, then that is your healthy weight. We are not actually supposed to be skinny!
Awesome, I started carnivore eating due to illness, so weight loss wasn't my priority, but healing. It's been 2 months, I'm still not feeling better, but I have a lot of healing to do. Thanks for sharing, it really does help to see someone sharing what I'm actually experiencing
I'm really sick of people saying this. It IS a weight loss diet as your body chemistry heals your fat cells are less hypertrophic, your mitochondria heal and utilize energy more efficiently. THAT'S weight loss along with all the rest of the benefits of health improvement. 😮
@@meatdog You're missing the point and the reason the diet fails for so many. If you use it for health, you will lose weight. If you use it to lose weight, it often fails and you don't focus on health. Semantics, maybe, but it's an important distinction.
Lost 40+ lbs in 59 days. Been in the same 5 lb range the last 40 days. I weigh myself and record it every day...haven't changed a damn thing in my diet. I've increased exercise more and more. Still nothing. No clue what this stall is about
You need to not get in your head to much at the start If you are consistent for 3 months After that is when the magic happens You will start losing weight and gaining muscle at the same time It might not feel or look like you are losing weight but you definitely recomp your physique and start looking a lot better
Dr Anthony Chaffe I hope you see this!!!! Please ansver🙏🏻 Can you make video about Carnevore after stomach cancer surgery. When the stomach is basicaly taken out... How the meet can be digested, if no Hcl acid, no digestve enzimes are presant,... I suport this diet my self, but is there a useful point to put such patient on carnivore? Thank you!
I have noticed when on my monthly period, age 47, carnivore for 1 year 10 months, mainly lion diet, that if I try to add tallow to my ground beef, like I do remainder of month, that I have looser stools. If I don’t add extra fat they go back to normal. Thought I would share that. Seems like my body prefers 80/20 ground beef and ribeyes during menstrual cycle days and that’s it, no adding extra fats. Works for me. I am good either way.
If it's my hormones out of wack at 47 being carnivore for 3 years now could it be possible they'll never get balanced at my age?? Haven't lost weight instead find myself gaining over the last 3 years... i lost at the beginning but it all has come back... i don't over eat if anything i under eat plus have headaches could this be something else??
Dr Chaffe you may have just given me the answer- I get vertebral migraines (MAV) on occasions and then sometimes quite frequently. I asked you about it once cause I had been hoping on carnivore my migraines would go away -you recommended going strict fatty red meat, water and salt. It seemed to make a difference, much more mild in symptoms and less often. My metabolism has always been on the low side (most of the time low energy), but esp. after menopause . You just said that MCT increases ketones and therefore might reduce migraines,… I’m going to try it. I do use LMNT as well as my meat and salt.
We're so homogenized to thinking that "it's our weight" that we need to focus on... WRONG WRONG WRONG.. Your waist line is telling you pretty much every thing you need to know.. YOUR WEIGHT WILL ADJUST ACCORDINGLY.. Focus on what you're eating daily, and focus on your daily activity!
The questions about our stools is often difficult for people to discuss, but it shouldn't be. I had a BUNCH of issues with mine. Constipation is generally NOT a problem, I've constipation maybe a dozen times in my entire life (58 yrs). My problem is loose or watery. I also am on Metformin...so.... Anyway, I don't have a gall bladder and doctors seem to not care when they remove it or give any tips for helping out. They always say "your body still produces bile, so don't worry about it." NOT TRUE. I still have some issues due to the metformin (extended release does help a bit) but what really has helped is I take a capsule of Ox Bile (500 mg) before every single meal. If my meal is really high fat (like 70% or more) I take another when I finish eating. Ox Bile is awesome. One other thing and I know Dr. Chaffee didn't talk about this today but I HAVE to share it. About three months ago I found something called Keto Bread. It's Keto Bread because each slice only has 1 carb of digestible fiber, so it's not supposed to affect your blood sugar. I bought a loaf, LOVED IT) tested it with my blood sugar and it literally had ZERO effect on my blood sugar. It STILL stalled my weight loss and after a month I began gaining weight even though my blood sugar continued to get better. This all tolfd me one thing: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS KETO BREAD. DON'T EAT IT. Most here are probably smarter than me so they never fell for the marketing. Sad to say I did. But I learned. :)
Hey. Also sometimes I share this, the Bible says that GOD loves us so much that he sent his son JESUS CHRIST to this earth and HE lived a perfect sinless life. And JESUS went to a cross and gave HIS life for us.And rose again in 3 days and who ever will receive JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR AND ASK HIM TO COME INTO THEIR HEART AND FORGIVE THEIR SINS,HE WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN.
If you're gonna swear maybe just swear. Be yourself man. Nobody likes a fake nice guy. Great tips for everything man. And thank you for helping me change my life. Peace
Trying to keep things clean for TH-cam as people watch these with their kids. It's not being fake, it's just trying to not be vulgar. Really glad that you have improved so much! Keep up the good work!
Ladies if you're 40+ you're now in the "meno zone" and it's a fact.. it's going to affect you period. 1) Go get a blood pannel to determine where your hormones are to include your thryroid. there is about a 99% chance that you'll find your hormones are out of whack.. YOU HAVE TO GET THEM IN CHECK. 2) Go get a dex a fit scan.. you need to know where you are as far as body fat and bone density.. Ladies..FACT we are loosing bone density every year.. once the ugly Meno things starts..and you're starting to pack on fat.. mostly viceral fat..around the mid section. The longer you wait to get things under control, the more difficult it will become to get things back in to check. 3) Our Pituatary Gland has also stop producing copious amount of Growth Hormone, (like we did when we were young) which allows our body to burn fat by building muscle. Sad but it's a fact. 4) Ladies resist the tempation to use appetite supressants to include GLP1 therapy which is known as Ozempic and several other names. APPETITE SUPRESSANTS ARE A TERRIBLE IDEA! You need to change your "eating behavior" and how you think about food. 5) If you're 40+ YOU NEED MORE PROTEIN..and you need to add on as muscle lean quality muscle as you can.. No you dont have to be a body builder.. but.. muscle is going to seriously improve your health and appearnce - PERIOD/FACT. FYI Muscle is sexy too! 6) Look into CJC 1295/Ipamorelin as a way to get your body to start producing GH.. 7) Start a good exercise regime.. like walking everyday.
4 1/2 yrs and no weight loss and clothes dont fit better. Thyroid still not healed, apparently. Thank you for saying some dont lose weight. This is the first time I've heard that.
Not a problem at all, it's definitely true. The thing is that there are a lot of hormonal and metabolic issues that can affect this, so they all need to be addressed. Diet plays a huge role in this, but it's not the only factor. If your thyroid isn't better yet though, and you are hypothyroid, definitely a good idea to talk to your doctor about getting on appropriate medications, and potentially correcting other things as well. There are many functional medicine doctors that can help you with this and get you an optimal levels, And this may help you get to where you want to be. Either way, I hope that you are at least feeling better than you were on a carnivore diet! Good luck
I'm cutting out my daily 2c of coffee w/ 2T. of goat milk. I've been boiling a lot of my meat in salt water. I eat the meat and drink a 1/2c of broth with it, it helps transitioning off of drinking liquids with meals and gives me additional fat and salt. What are your thoughts on exercising in a fasted state? I wake up, meditate, and do a quick workout with weights. I feel a little weak, then drink 20 oz electrolyte water, then a 30-minute walk. I usually feel better after the electrolytes and walk before eating. Do you think the short workout could contribute to weight loss stall? TY!!
I stopped losing weight after losing 50lbs, but then noticed the muscle gains and clothes size kept shrinking. The first 20 was inflammation. My hands and forearms shrank. I didn't realize that my fat fingers weren't normal. My neck also shrank two collar sizes. I would have to lose muscle mass now to lose more weight. Carnivore works. @@ceceliafetty5175 well, 5 months now, still taking all meds, etc. when u listen to people who have big changes in 5 days or 2 weeks, hard to take. I’d really like to talk to a doc, but can’t find one in person or anything like Skype. U hear so many different things from Carnivore docs, and community. Some fast so much they hardly eat, a doctor will say any meat, even balogny, but many say only beef, then they talk like ribeyes are what really gets results…so on and so on.
I’m the opposite I can’t put weight on while living on carnivore , I eat meat , eggs , diary , ,got down to 97 Kg and it won’t budget even lifting weights etc , I’m strong and strong then I ever been at 61
@usrcrazy1 Hi, my bloodwork did something similar to yours. I was more worried about triglycerides than LDL. I'll tell you my scenario and maybe it will help: I had labs checked 5 months into carnivore, then again at 7 months. My LDL was massively high like yours, my triglycerides spiked to 180 (they've never been over 70 prior), but my HDL went up to 105. I thought I was supposed to intermittent fast, but was already quite thin. Now I only fast if I have to (like in a situation where there's nothing for me to eat). I realized I wasn't eating enough fat though I thought I was. Also maybe I just wasn't eating enough period. Also my body was still healing. After experimentation and lots of bloodwork over the last couple of years, I increased my food intake in general by adding a snack between my 2 meals, decreased protein slightly, and increased fat a lot. So I'm a high high fat carnivore. I'm 3+ years in and my LDL is 387, HDL 88, triglycerides 90. Triglycerides are still higher than I would like, but still experimenting. Increasing the animal fat made my triglycerides and LDL go down, and got rid of electrolyte imbalance symptoms. 🤷♀️ I'm going to try to not drink so much water with my meals and see what that does.
I can maintain and gain muscle when I eat two - three meals a day, very fatty so still 70-80% of your kcal from fat. You train every day, or take one or two rest days if you want a week and you should grow
I lost ten pounds right away and was worried I’d keep losing but I’ve held steady at my high school weight (110lbs). Guess that’s what I’m supposed to be!

With the lion diet, i also put in remision my epileptic seisure. It feels great not to have those seisures, especialy at work. Now i can work for 8 hours a day without seisures. But i have stall for 8 months, and actually gain 9 lbs. I dont exrcisesd becouse of my spinal surgery. I walk a lot, becouse my job requare. Other than that everything works great for me. Thank you and i will allways appreciate you doctor👌🤙🏻👍🫶💪🧠🫀🫁🦷🦴
Please hang in there! Sometimes it does take awhile. I lost 15 pounds fairly quickly in the beginning, then stalled out even though i was strictly following Carnivore (for 2 years now). The stall lasted about 2 or 3 more months then, all of a sudden (remember I'd been eating the exact same thing all this time), I rapidly lost another 40 pounds without trying!
I am stalled on carnivore. I rarely sleep more than 4 hours, many times less. That won't change until I can change jobs in 6 years. Blood sugar hovers around 80. I am 6'2" and 282lbs. Hopefully I am just healing and the sleep deprivation isn't the problem. Can't change it. Having trouble giving up coffee too
Does the healing you talk about go beyond hormones and metabolic issues? I’m 54f and was very active until last September when I had a root tear in my medial meniscus. After surgery and 6 weeks on crutches… the OTHER one tore in the other knee, so 6 more weeks on crutches and a lot of muscle atrophy. Basically 9 months on crutches. I’m walking now and working out and carnivore for 2 months. Scale hasn’t moved one pound! But I have lost inches and know I’m building muscle back in my legs and hips. Blood sugar is steady in the 80’s. Thanks
68 year old female morbidity obese. Four months red meat carnivore, no processed food. Zero weight loss, no inches lost. Doc ran labs, all normal. Can't even describe my sense of hopelessness. I'm sticking with it because it's comfortable and easy. But I now doubt I'll ever see healthy weight.
Stick with it! Just know that it takes a while, when you are older, for the weight to drop off. Try and add some walking, take out dairy if you are eating it…. Good luck, it will come off!!
Are you getting enough fat? I was eating new york strip steak and not getting enough fat. Now I mix it up with 80/20 ground beef and I cook with butter.

I can't imagine not drinking water for basically four hours, i.e., 2 hours before and after. I drink water all day and during meals. Should I rethink this? Also, I am on day 378 of ketovore (definitely more on the carnivore side). I have lost 50 pounds; however, I haven't lost anything since December 2023. I have been stuck gaining/losing the same 6 pounds since then. I haven't changed anything from when I first started. I just don't know how to get over the plateau. Health wise, I feel great. I do still have weight to lose though. I usually fast from 7 or 8 at night to about 2 in the afternoon. I eat lunch and dinner or sometimes just OMAD. I can't figure out what to do to get the weight loss started again.
Is it normal to have to eat one to two sticks of butter a day to not be constipated? I'm 6 months in and struggling with constipation. Anything else I can do to move things easier?? I also have hashimotos.
Thanks for sharing. I bet comments like this can help those who have gotten demoralized by the plateaus.

I've heard one of the doctors say it can take up to four years to totally heal.
I'm one year, seven months in. I'm healing, but I wish it was faster. I'm not going to quit though, I'm in this for the long haul.
40 pounds in 10 months. Dropped two dress sizes. Weight loss slow but shrinking was more visible. Body needs to heal before weight loss. Be patient ❤
Congratulations!

Good luck, keep it up, you are amazing to take this new way of eating on!
maybe you should eat 3-4x a day with your protein requirement divide each meal...try it in a week and see how it goes...hope it helps😊
Bless you. I pray for your strength and health.

I like that phrasing: "body closed for maintenance." Very fitting.
No problem whatsoever with you swearing from time to time because it's actually pretty funny since you are such a positive, calm, well spoken super intelligent person that is clearly concerned with optimizing everyone's health journey and it just shows authentic sentiment towards others that are not..😄
Thank you Dr Chaffee!!I really needed to hear this at this time. 🙏🏻💕🇨🇦
Fellow Carnivore in Canada! Girl, I thought I was the only one
@@aphroditeg2712 nope. lol. And it’s good to know there are more of us out there! 🥰
I need to gain not lose.Im 73 yr old male Carnivore for 15 months.
When I started march 25th 23 I was 120lbs @6ft tall. I'm up to 155:lbs now low body fat
Interesting. I started at 160 (also 6'-0"), now at 150, trying to gain. Four months low carb. Not at all sure how this works.
Your swearing is not offensive, I would classify it as mildly enthused. Great job, totally agree with everything you say.
Started dirty carnivore about 7 weeks ago & I’m down 25lbs so far. No acid reflux. Sleep well. No afternoon slump. Feel great!
Another 59yr old here ., started Jan 1st as well...also haven't lost weight . My restless legs nearly gone ...
@@lesleykrone8257 That is great to hear. Expecting mine to be gone as well
I'm 55 also - started 2.5 weeks ago and haven't lost a pound. It's a little frustrating - I'm also extremely tired. I know I need to stick with it to see results but its pretty disappointing.
Going on 3 months enjoying are Carnivore healthy lifestyle thanks for sharing
I started at 296 lbs a few
years ago but once I became serious about losing the excess moving to keto then carnivore I’m now down to 172.
Your yellow stool is most likely Oxalates leaving your body!
Yellow or pale stool is indicative of liver problems. Please have your liver checked if that has not stopped or if it reoccurrs.
@@bronwynst4280it's ok. As long as they just eat all the meat, it will heal itself! No doctor is as powerful of a healer as a slab of wagyu!!! Don't think, just meat! Tons of people on tren swear by it, so I'm gonna start right now!
Brave with the cold water - I can only do it after steam room.
Thank you, very helpful information.
Hey Dr! Can you make in depth video about gout please!
For females it's initially an ecological change first or simply said, a gene reorganization/restructuring
I've been carni 2.3 yrs and this info still blows my mind
I've been carnivore since January 2023. I weighed in at 16 stone (224 lbs) when I started and 18 moths later I am weighing in at 11 1/2 stone (163 llbs)
It wasn't a smooth weight loss and I had stalls but I've got to the top end of my ideal weight despite having had ME/CFS - all symptoms have disappeared after years of severe issues.
(Poor posture spending hours at a computer and doing handcrafts/artwork...)
Even my recent sciatica flare soon healed once I worked out the best way to lie and stop trapping and irritating the nerve.
Every time I listen to Anthony , I get hungry ! I get by on beef chuck and beef brisket just fine with salt and butter .
After 1 1/2 years of Carnivore, I quit butter and broke my weight loss stall.

So you cut your calories basically?
I doubt I cut calories because I eat all the fat on rib eyes & add tallow to burgers 😜
Great chat as always. Very informative.
Muscle is heavier than fat. I got hubby on Carnivore. He is going strong since 8 days. 🙂
yeah i am in this conundrum ...my goal is to lose 10 lbs a month...and so far at the end october 2024 i only lost 4 lbs this month... however my arms and legs are showing big veins popping out and some new separation visible in my arms muscles that was never there before... so while my weight loss has stalled... i am seeing alot of changes ...
I’m the same way. I’m stuck at the weight BUT I workout every day 💪🏻
The good doctor is being overly optimistic about weight loss.
Not eating enough according to most- yet not losing..
changing it up is helping me
Trial & error!
Me too. I was feeling like the only one.
@No_Frills_Carnivore I am in the same boat you are. Haven't had any weight loss on carnivore after 6 months. I like the ease of this way of eating. Feeling depressed.
Any single carnivore men in their 40’s in the central to Northern California area who love the outdoors, females and GSD’s? ❤
Can we see a short video clip of you playing rugby? That would be so awesome
Fascinating. There must be other people in the same situation as you. I wonder what they have done.
I think you need to eat more meat. 1.25 lbs isn’t a lot. Allegedly, a Comanche man would eats 5 lbs in a day.
@@azarialr6639 Appreciate the reply :)
20oz steak, 8 eggs, tons of butter, almost a container of cottage cheese and a litre of whole milk is a lot of food for me.
Yes! Thank you! I wish more people realized this!!!!
Awesome, I started carnivore eating due to illness, so weight loss wasn't my priority, but healing. It's been 2 months, I'm still not feeling better, but I have a lot of healing to do. Thanks for sharing, it really does help to see someone sharing what I'm actually experiencing
I don't agree that carrying fat on or in your body is healthy.

You need to not get in your head to much at the start
If you are consistent for 3 months
After that is when the magic happens
You will start losing weight and gaining muscle at the same time
It might not feel or look like you are losing weight but you definitely recomp your physique and start looking a lot better
Dr Anthony Chaffe I hope you see this!!!!

I've always pooped more at that time of the month
I’m having a hard time getting into ketosis on high protein, moderate fat and almost 0 carbs. I track everything. Any suggestions?

If it's my hormones out of wack at 47 being carnivore for 3 years now could it be possible they'll never get balanced at my age?? Haven't lost weight instead find myself gaining over the last 3 years... i lost at the beginning but it all has come back... i don't over eat if anything i under eat plus have headaches could this be something else??
I lost 6 lbs the first week and nothing following but my clothes size still changed down weekly lol
I know why. One Snickers Fun Size and one 3" bakery sugar cookie each day. Still lose but more slowly. These are the sole carbs consumed.
Well said!
Body composition is everything, and people do forget about that entirely, and mistakenly just go by the numbers they see on the scale.
If you're gonna swear maybe just swear. Be yourself man. Nobody likes a fake nice guy.
Great tips for everything man. And thank you for helping me change my life.

Why is it that when you cut out all plants and only eat animal foods you don’t have body odour anymore?
carnivore impairs sense of smell...
I noticed that too. I don't even need deodorant anymore.
@@chuckleezodiac24 that’s ridiculous. It most certainly doesn’t.
@@chuckleezodiac24What kind of BS is that?🤦🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Coffee and onions made me smell bad.

After 4 months on this, I’m waiting for that energy, for my medical conditions to get better, my brain to clear that I keep hearing about.
Hang In there. You will wake up one day ready to take on the world!
Why nobody addresses the opposite problem - how to maintain weight on carnivore for those who have gone too far skinny.?
I can maintain and gain muscle when I eat two - three meals a day, very fatty so still 70-80% of your kcal from fat. You train every day, or take one or two rest days if you want a week and you should grow
I lost ten pounds right away and was worried I’d keep losing but I’ve held steady at my high school weight (110lbs). Guess that’s what I’m supposed to be!
Thank you dr. Anthony C ❤.
I lost 77lbs on the lion diet/omad for the past 2 years. I am now at 53 feel much healthier than i was at 23.
I’m 4 months in on carnivore and not an ounce lost. Is it unrealistic for me to have expected some loss? I don’t think so. It’s frustrating
Any off scale victories?😍
Carnivore takes A little while to get Our Health Care In Order! Eat Red Meat , Salt & Water ❤ And be Patient while continuously eating The Carnivore diet❤ what a Wonderful Way to Heal & Future much increase in Our Health ❤
What are you doing for exercise? And are you sleeping enough? I’m 70 F and I find even just a walk around the block in the sun (or rain!) gets my energy up. Any exercise is better than none, and improves my mood too.
Did you measure yourself first? Arms, thighs, neck, waist, hips calves? Do it and re-measure every week, you'll be surprised.
Been on the carnivore diet for 9 weeks Still getting gout in my hands When to the doctor a few days ago gained 9 months Any answers why
