Here's my experience. I had a 2001 Ninja 250. I ran that son of a bitch on highways 70% of the time going 70-75mph, and the engine didn't sweat it one bit despite the high rpm's. Not only did it see high rpm's all the time, I definitely made it work as hard as it could. Full throttle, low leans, the whole nine yards. Of course I made sure to keep up with maintenance, but let me tell you something~ specially to those out there looking to get their first bike. If the old 250's were that tough, I can promise you today's 300's will teach you everything just fine; local riding, highway riding, anything. Even wheelies, lol. EDIT: Don't listen to anyone that downplays these small bikes. They do everything a motorcycle does, because it's still a motorcycle. You can bust your ass real bad on these small bike just as much like a big one.
Same can be said for the small 4cyl pickups that everyone mocks, instead insisting on half tons the size of a house. I have a 2001 Frontier 2wd 5 speed 4cyl that does 95 percent of what you need a pickup for. It also fits almost anywhere and averages 26mpg. Shit, it still averages well over 20mpg when towing a small tandem axle trailer loaded up. Yeah its slow as shit but it still gets it done and i know plenty of people with larger trucks should ai need one.

This helped out alot. Been looking at a 300 and after seeing this video my minds made up. NYC highway speed limit is only 50mph and this bike proved its more than capable of that
Yea I just recently purchased one myself, while it is on the low side of speed its definitely a fun bike to ride! Still get a good rush from it.its always fun to ride a slow bike fast rather then a fast bike slow..✌
I started with an R3 and it did fine with highway. I would cruise 65-70mph. Overtaking was tough at times because the passing power was weak. At that situation you need to downshift once or twice to get around some cars. The wind is also another battle. Light bikes are amazing, but the wind will knock you off course sometimes.
Rence Fabian I can attest to this. Trying to race home before an incoming thunderstorm and the accompanying strong winds in West Texas my ninja was at an angle most of the highway ride home. Has to let off the throttle at some moments because I couldn't stay on track as I was already countersteering just to stay in a straight line.
I’m looking around and then when you said bandera I found out you are in San Antonio! Then later on you drove past where I work. Glad to see another fellow rider here in SA with not that many here
I do not get it, either! Of course it will not be as fast as a 600 super sport but you will be faster than 80% of cars around and have plenty of passing power.
I believe what he meant was if it can comfortably go on the highway. So that's why anything under 600cc is considered small in the US huh? But still, cheers on the 300 man !!
They are still about as fast a Porsche Boxter, of course you can take it on the highways and tollways! Plenty of passing power and likely faster than most cars around. Wind can be an issue and of course you should be wearing gear, but a 250 or 300 is plenty good for highway/tollway driving. You will be shifting a lot more than a bigger bike, only thing.
From an old fart who rode the highway on a Honda CL70, I'm amazed at the power small bikes have. The way this bike handled smoothly, I have no problems commuting with it. Thank you for that very useful and informative demonstration.
I own this bike and yeah the wind can get ya. Minor winds send you a little out of balance but sometimes you can get hit but the wind and feel like your bike is gonna come out from under you. So far the wind hasn’t been an issue but can scare you if your not used to it
Thanks. I just got a 250 for my first bike. I don't mind going slightly slower speeds as I'm still getting used to it. I'm not ready for the highway anyway, but it's good to know that I can when I'm ready.
jaden gutierrez the system is much better in Europe. You get a 125 when you’re 16, a 300 or 400 when you’re 18 and when you turn 20 you can get the bike you want. This system avoids accidents and let’s you have more fun with the bikes.
let me get uh Different landscapes, traffic laws, roads, etc. I don't think it's really applicable. In the states starting on a 125cc to daily is like asking to get hit, not enough power to really get yourself out of a bad situation here. The roads are more open, and people usually drive ~10-15mph over the speed limit. Don't even get me started on highways. Taking a small bike to a canyon or something is pretty fun though, smaller bikes are usually easier to handle and you can just rip the throttle without having to worry about flying off the road at over 100mph in a split second. You guys in Europe got it good with twisties nearly everywhere. I'm almost jealous, honestly. However, the more responsible dealerships here in the states refuse to sell people anything bigger than 300-400 if it's their first bike, maybe a 650 since they're more tame. At least that's been my experience.
Hey, I had one of these years ago in the mid-2000s! They're pretty zippy for a small displacement bike. They aren't too heavy which helps. Only thing is that the smaller and lighter bikes feel a bit "wiggly" when on less than perfect roads. The handlebars wiggle. I had a death wobble once and dumped mine :(
Wind shear isnt something you can prepare for though. Depending on who and what is immediately nearby -a bike that light is a lot riskier than a heavier bike. Guess it pays to know the wind forecast and prevailing direction where you’re riding and heading. Bet that bike is fun for stunting around on empty roads.

No, I have a ninja and i've reached 192 km/h with it lots of times. If you are a good rider and know how to push the bike, this 300 can easily take on bigger bikes on roads with twisties. Done it myself :)
Being a good rider doesn't make your bike go faster in a straight line past 80 on a 300, all you do is hold the throttle, there's relatively 0 logic to that
I don’t weight much(120, 6ft) and I took a Honda rebel to 65mph and it started to float pretty bad and it was really scary because I felt like I didn’t have much control over the bike. I’m wondering if the Ninja will do a similar thing.
I had a ninja 250 and it pulls really hard, yours doesn't pull because of how your riding it,,,,but it does pull really hard and you can dart your way threw traffic.
I take my pregen ninja 250 on the highway and as you can tell by my pic im a big ass dude at 6'2" 320lbs around 75 to 80 mph gear reduction 15t in front 43t rear taller tires gets tricky when you ride behind 18 wheelers due to the wind buffer from the trailers and will ride 25 miles at the time with rpms in the 7500 to 8000 in 6th gear trick is to shift down a gear and tuck to pass adequately but will soon upgrade to a suzuki katana 750 or honda vfr800 for more comfort and speed for longer hauls and multiple state touring rides
Nathan Davidov $70/year for liability, $150/year for my brother for comprehensive. Your best bet is to get a free insurance quote online though. Winter driving probably depends on your location. San Antonio has no snow and doesn't get insanely cold, so riding during the winter is usually fine (on any bike)
I’ve ridden my 300 since I got it In 2016 and it rides fine but long distance trips like out in desert on huge highways is really bad for this bike .... all throughout Los Angeles or something like the inner cities is perfect though !
i have a ninja 300, it’s great bike, but i get blown around by the wind even being 185 pounds, and even around town it can be bad. I’m looking for ways to increase stability because it’s not in my budget to go to a 650 class yet, i may buy a different 300 simply because i want ABS on my bike even tho ppl hate on it. I think a bigger tire and aftermarket windscreen might do the trick with the stability, but that’s my only complaint, it’s got enough power to have fun. But yes it does lack a bit on the highway. I live in florida and try to avoid the highway because it can be harsh. Not to say it’s impossible but the wind is god awful sometimes where i get blown into another lane. I’ve topped out my bike at about 115, it takes a bit to get there but 115mph is enough to pass someone on the highway so it’s capable but not the sturdiest of bikes.
I have one. anything over 120km/hr and it feels very strained and is uncomfortable to ride. You WILL get left behind on group rides. and the wind DOES blow you around. This bike is good for small country roads or city riding. Don't get this for long rides.
i love when people sort bikes like these as a city bikes or country roads :D :D .. i feel pretty comfortable on a cbr125r in 120/130km/h (130downhill of course) ...that engine can take longer distances like nothing ... yeah light bikes have some problems with the wind ... but i dont really think that is a such big problem ...
You still in the same area I’d love to get my license and learn from someone who is close by I drive that freeway every single day and could use some pointer if I wanna get started riding
I have a 2017 ninja 300 as my first bike... been riding on and off for 2 months. my question is on the highway I feel fragile on this bike,.like i have the feeling that im gonna lose control. maybe because the wind blowing hard. and I'm talking going 70 I wonder if is my inexperience or is is kinda normal to feel that way in these type of bikes
Hey man good day to you. Exactly the same thing as me. I'm 145 lbs. and get blown around on alot as well. Seems I'm always hanging on for dear life. This video has him riding with one hand and looks so smooth

My dream Kawasaki is a supercharged triple-cylinder 445cc engine (the current engine is 297cc, so adding one more 148cc cylinder brings it up to 445cc, then beef up the crank & rods & clutch & transmission) putting out a modest 60hp at the rear wheel with 50 ft-lbs of wideband torque, Ohlins front & rear, Brembo's front & rear, 5-gallon fuel tank, and a total wet weight of 360-lbs... A new Ninja 300 KRE ABS is about $5,300... I'd pay $9000 for a Ninja 445 SC KRE ABS (Ninja ZX-4R)...
Don't get me wrong: I love my 300 Ninja. A lot! :) But the thought of a good ZX-4R version being available in the USA? mmmmmm, doughnuts..... grlgrlgrlgrlgrlgrlgrl...... Until then, the 2017 Ninja 650 is looking better with a loss of 42-lbs (will weigh just 424-lbs) compared to the 2016 model year Ninja 650. :-)
It should be able to achieve the speed limit. The only problem is that in some places lots of people will be driving over the limit. That means lots of cars will be trying to run you over. As far as the wind goes. I was riding a ninja 600 on the highway, and the wind blew me across two lanes. Counter steering was useless. I was at the mercy of the wind. The incident sceared the heck out of me. I brought a bigger/ heavier bike, and the problem was gone.
It can do 90 no problem. If cars are going faster than that it's a problem for any bike because going faster than the speed limit on highways is stupid
i ride ninja 300 from sydney to canberra everyweek on highway(530kms approximately). the issue is ninja 300 is too light to deal with windy and high rpm( 8000~9000) at 110kms which cause vibration a lot, after 30mins ride, body ,hands are numb, legs are numb
that is a comuter bike for around town, i had one for my starting bike and to let friends ride along me , nothing wrong with those 300cc 8n my book i dont ride faster than 100 mph because at that point im killing my self if i crash , so 100% of the time i get to 100mph and i let go thats plenty for mee , i onow friends that need to have a bike that can go 200mph plus but to each their own , if that rocks your boats , then you do you by all means nessesary.

Im surprised at all the comments on the top speed on their bikes, Ive got a Bajaj Pulsar 200 ns and it easily lift 80mph/130kph and I have top it at around 97mph/156kph, this with out any mods on it I would have really though the 300 ninja would go much faster :/

Yes i underatand there is alot of grammatical errors as far as no puntuation goes
how much do you pay for insurance, also how is the bike during the winter, looking on buying one soon. I live in nj and it’s going to be my daily
Why are long trips bad? I'm a complete bike novice
@@wanderingwonder111 heavier sports bikes break through the wind like slicing butter. Also more gas in the tank.
i have a ninja 300, it’s great bike, but i get blown around by the wind even being 185 pounds, and even around town it can be bad.
I’m sure it’s not as bad as a cb500 naked bike. At 8mph it started pushing you into the other lane. So that’s why fairings are a must!
I have one. anything over 120km/hr and it feels very strained and is uncomfortable to ride.
Should I get this as a first bike, or something faster? I’m confused.
You still in the same area
I’d love to get my license and learn from someone who is close by
I drive that freeway every single day and could use some pointer if I wanna get started riding
eyyyy fellow San Antonian
my gf is living in fredericksburg and shes always wanted a ninja would u recomend the 300abs?
Does the 300 get tank slaps? Does it need a stabilizer bar?
Hey I am also by UTSA San Antonio I am thinking of getting this bike this week do u recommend it I am 5’11 225 pounds
I have a Ninja 300. Just went on the highway this week. OH MY GOD I HATE THE FOOKING WIND! The bike is LIGHT for the wind.
This video was made in San Antonio TX right ??
Imma get this once I get a job and my license
Did you get it?
Even like a 08 ninja 300cc? I need to commute on the highway for about 1hr 30 mins everyday
I have a 2017 ninja 300 as my first bike... been riding on and off for 2 months. my question is on the highway I feel fragile on this bike,.like i have the feeling that im gonna lose control. maybe because the wind blowing hard. and I'm talking going 70 I wonder if is my inexperience or is is kinda normal to feel that way in these type of bikes
thats normal it will come with time
Hey man good day to you.
Exactly the same thing as me.
I'm 145 lbs. and get blown around on alot as well.
Seems I'm always hanging on for dear life.
This video has him riding with one hand and looks so smooth
@@daveweller3427 i've been riding a 600 for more than a year not only have grown up in experience but this bigger bikes feels way more stable than 300 on the hwy and anywhere.
Hey Qwahzi IRL
great ride and video
I ride a 2009 ninja 500r and my buddies ride ninja 650's
the 500 goes pretty good on the highway
ride safe my motorcycle brother ,,,liked ( thumbs up )
Thanks! How does the 500 compared to the 650s? Is the power difference noticeable? Ride safe!
Hey buddy
not that noticeable ,,lucky for me my friends aren't very experienced riders ,,lol
it makes it easy for me to keep up and even pass them, lol
the 500 is a pretty good bike ,,not to little and not to big ( insurance is pretty low also )
My dream Kawasaki is a supercharged triple-cylinder 445cc engine (the current engine is 297cc, so adding one more 148cc cylinder brings it up to 445cc, then beef up the crank & rods & clutch & transmission) putting out a modest 60hp at the rear wheel with 50 ft-lbs of wideband torque, Ohlins front & rear, Brembo's front & rear, 5-gallon fuel tank, and a total wet weight of 360-lbs... A new Ninja 300 KRE ABS is about $5,300... I'd pay $9000 for a Ninja 445 SC KRE ABS (Ninja ZX-4R)...
OregonOnTwoWheels That would be amazing
Don't get me wrong: I love my 300 Ninja. A lot! :) But the thought of a good ZX-4R version being available in the USA? mmmmmm, doughnuts..... grlgrlgrlgrlgrlgrlgrl...... Until then, the 2017 Ninja 650 is looking better with a loss of 42-lbs (will weigh just 424-lbs) compared to the 2016 model year Ninja 650. :-)
In high school and I got the 2014 H2!
Petros Anagnostopoulos that’s my dream
Nice video 👍
This would be a good bike for riding to school
Best 600cc beginner sports bike?
How much did you weigh at the time of this video?
It should be able to achieve the speed limit. The only problem is that in some places lots of people will be driving over the limit. That means lots of cars will be trying to run you over.
As far as the wind goes. I was riding a ninja 600 on the highway, and the wind blew me across two lanes. Counter steering was useless. I was at the mercy of the wind. The incident sceared the heck out of me. I brought a bigger/ heavier bike, and the problem was gone.
It can do 90 no problem.
If cars are going faster than that it's a problem for any bike because going faster than the speed limit on highways is stupid
@@letni9506 LOL.
Sounds like correct driving.
lol i was really thinking of getting a 300 cuz they looked nicer then the 600 but this did it for me getting 600 this weekend
Is a ninja 300 a good beginner bike?
I was considering getting this bike but ur saying it doesn’t really have balls eh . I wish the ninja came in a 450cc
Kawasaki just replaced the Ninja 300 with the Ninja 400. More power, better components, less weight, same price!
Good info
Aye you're in San Antonio! Live here too
i ride ninja 300 from sydney to canberra everyweek on highway(530kms approximately). the issue is ninja 300 is too light to deal with windy and high rpm( 8000~9000) at 110kms which cause vibration a lot, after 30mins ride, body ,hands are numb, legs are numb
Can i ride on the highway during break in period basically with a brand new bike
A bike that does 118mph and people think it might struggle on the highway?
Jet it. Why would you pass in sixth ? Always drop down and fly by get the power you need high rpms for a moment wont kill the bike
How do these things wheelie? Any good?
Back in the day. I loved my RD 350... plenty fast, even for a porky kid...
Did you tray tu down shift from 6 to 5th speed??
125cc your gonna struggle with wind lack of power not good for long highway or motorway riding bit grrat for getting from A to B.
My 300 does 105 mph and I weight 250. Up hill I dont have a lot of passing power but still a great bike
it sure can i ride on the highway all the time like ALL The dam time lol it does really well .
And in the uk we’ve got people on 125s on the motorway hahah
I stay in SA and want a bike you make me wanna get one and ride with ya
Until I heard you say Medina and Bandera I didn't realize you drove right past my house.
Micah Satchell Yep, San Antonio!
Lol same wtf
Do you have any videos on shifting?
So I can see we’re in the same city I’m looking to get a bike but everywhere I’ve gone they don’t have 300s
400s are the new 300s, great for newer riders
@@QwahziIRL thanks man where in San Antonio do you suggest going if I may ask??
Bro so I guess you would have no problem on giving me that bike🤭
0:00 for a second I felt that 300cc bike sounded like inline 4 cylinder machine ... Lol
1:35: "You can't zip out and Poof" like a Ninja.
Which is actually appropriate, because the 300's engine is a GPX
Today forecast : 25mph winds. Skip that trip
Lol mate i have a cbr125r and i hundle the highway like its nothing
so of course a sexy ninja 300 can too
Does this bike come with ABS?
that is a comuter bike for around town, i had one for my starting bike and to let friends ride along me , nothing wrong with those 300cc 8n my book i dont ride faster than 100 mph because at that point im killing my self if i crash , so 100% of the time i get to 100mph and i let go thats plenty for mee , i onow friends that need to have a bike that can go 200mph plus but to each their own , if that rocks your boats , then you do you by all means nessesary.
It’s sucks to go 90 mph to 0 mph in zero seconds I’m grateful to be here thank you god for not taking me at 22 years old I’ve never been the same since then. My first motorcycle was a ninja 1998 250 lol twin cam. Black and red. I want another bike 🏍 or scooter 🛵 lol I’m 39 now lol. I think I will look cool with my prosthetic foot. You ever see a scooter or motorcycle here San Antonio and the right foot is missing but has a prosthetic foot that’s me lol. I will round house anyone who fucks with me. Titanium to the face lol. Nah I won’t. I enjoy my freedom. Hey guys subscribe to my channel plz help this amputee plz. I will get a nice drone and show off my city and near by places and maybe travel if I get enough subscribers.
Im surprised at all the comments on the top speed on their bikes, Ive got a Bajaj Pulsar 200 ns and it easily lift 80mph/130kph and I have top it at around 97mph/156kph, this with out any mods on it I would have really though the 300 ninja would go much faster :/
I can pull from 70-90mph pretty easy on my 300. But after 90 it’s slow up to 110mph
