I always had a feeling New Tealand had a lot more room for expanding, but I see it's actually absolutely huge. Would still like to see it get fixed and maybe there are some places you can fit some of the new expensions content in, like plazas and promenades.
Huge kudos to all the mod makers for updating their mods and keeping them working (and to the mod updaters for those few mods that have been "abandoned").
So good to have new tealand back, it was at a scale of a serious city. I still think there is so much to be done especially around linking everything to the tarantula train station, have two competing universities, now bring in the new DLCs, so excited for more work on it

IT LIVES! I don't think I have ever cried with joy watching a Biffa video but today was the day. So many memories, so many good times, so many issues and hair pulling. This has got to be the best city build I have ever watched. Long Live Tealand
So glad we got another episode of New Tealand, wasn't expecting that at all and it's a nice way to see out the year. It was the first city I watched from the very beginning after finding videos of Tea port and watching from midway through. After the long wait I assumed we wouldn't be getting another episode.. but you kept to your promise despite all the issues and that's why we love the channel and content you make.
It's a magnificent city; I was always sad when it ended. I wonder if you plan on fully continuing it, I rather hope so, in that case, I have a suggestion. Once you've brought it fully back to life and finished what you were working on; (I remember the last things you worked on was a park/zoo area on an Island and the Queen's Bridge (Koninginnebrug) that never got named. I remember a shorter smaller bridge only a little bit onward, and I always figured that bridge should become the same bridge, and the big one is the Tea Queen Bridge, and the smaller one is the Tea Princess bridge. Would also be nice if you can use the intersection marking tool to change the red bicycle lanes on the bridge to green ones to keep consistency with the rest of the build), maybe instead of immediately expanding do some redeveloping episodes. City Planner Plays often redevelops his cities; usually older parts that were built with less options; doing some of that and giving the original start of the city some love could be interesting. For one thing, I remember you saying in one of the first neighborhoods with the first park you were going to put in a monorail; and then when you unlocked the monorail, you never put it in; finally giving a redeveloped park/neighborhood their promised monorail could be good. PS: It seems trains going to that station are just plain too long; but it's not unrealistic to have stations where longer trains just can't go in the middle of cities, and similarly in a terrain like mountains where long trains just don't go. IRL those trains just can't go there. So it made me wonder; if the newest vehicle-selection mod and/or transit control mod you've installed in the new cities allows you to set the length of the train for stations/and or sections of the track.
Also how the passenger trains merge from the platform track to the main/bypass track at that station is all horky borky; perhaps Biffa can use node controller to smooth the tracks out.
This was a heroic effort to save the city. Three cheers for Biffa! The "haf" in "Westhafen" is pronounced like the english word "half", so it would be something like "Vesthalfen" (because "w" is pronounced "v", and "v" is pronounced "f". Don't ask me why).

Yes. I'm so glad that New Tealand is back. It is one of my favorite cities you've done, along with Teaville. Perhaps you can go through and redevelop areas one at a time, similar to how City Planner does on occasion. That way you can fix any problems that have cropped up, revise the buildings/themes, and address traffic in that area.
It is so great to see this absolute masterpice of a city back in Action 😍 I watched your channel as you started with Teaport but New Tealand truly sparked my own enjoyment of the game anew and I since then follow your Content and love every minute of it. Yes, definitely two thumbs up 👍👍 for more fixing of New Tealand and I would love to see the Bentealey Terminal area developed with the Plazas and Promenades and the Financial District DLCs. Also an oceanside resort on the barrier island at the end of the Cross Sound Drawbridge would be very nice and simply lovely! Oh and I wouldn't worry about the UK style housing popping up; after all New Tealand is part of the British Commonwealth but it really should have Australian style suburbs! Two Dollars Twenty has loads of them on his Oceana build 👌
A big HOORAY for the return of New Tealand. This is by far my favourite CS build series, followed of course by Blightea on the Wold. I hope to see more videos in this series and massive well done Biffa on it’s resurrection.
Glad to see this map/city revisited. Yes, more fixing/expanding it content please. I really like the layout of this map, and the creativity for city-building that it offers. There are A LOT of nice looking maps out there that look like they'd be amazing to build on. My only complaint is that so many custom maps (including this one), require loading additional assets/mods that the map maker used. I'd like to see you find a custom map for a future build that doesn't require specific assets/mods just to load the map.
New Tealand was the reason why I started playing cities and I’m really excited to see it again. Biffa introduced me to how great the cities skylines community is.

Great video again! I really enjoyed watching New Tealand again. It still feels a bit odd to realize that you create memories of events happening in a virtual city. It shows that you share the events happening in a city share so well, we almost feel like it happened for real.
New Tealand is finally out of the Coof lockdown? about time ! * grabs popcorn * And yes, by all means, bring your old TOWNS (plural) to modern standards in CS. Including the very old ones you published on youtube a few years ago. Lots of lost asset to fix/repair, but that's part of the fun (assuming these old towns load up, of course). That will make a fun series to watch !
Yes! My favorite city is back! Yeah New Tealand deserves a full fix, I hated how anti-climactic it ended with everything dying when the city had so much potential. Also Biffa... that second warehouse had no goods assigned to store... 🤪

I had something similar happen to my original city, which I keep going back to each time a new DLC comes out. I had a few 'New Tealand' moments myself - had more than half my population die-off which sent it into a downward spiral, but I am happy to say I was able to bring it back as well. These cities are like our children in a way. Cheers
It would be an interesting experiment to start a new city on the same map without the intention of recreating New Tealand and see what develops. There would probably be many similarities as the map limits and inspires what may be places where. But with more experience, new mods, new content, and perhaps accepting different advice from commentators (though the majority could provide the same feedback as in the original series).
One way to fix the services for those isolated spots on tops of mountains, is to simply make a tunnel system that covers them. As it's just to deal with a weakness in the game, you can just use some 1u roads and don't bother with steepness or anything like that. Limit the road to service vehicles, and have a short bit of road pop up in each spot. On the places where the road connects to the normal road network you should have all the services close by, and that will take care of all the issues.
I'm so glad you were able to recover the city!!! Also, at 29:50 the warehouse isn't filling because it doesn't have a resource selected. Looking forward to more!

I gotta say, New Tealand made me feel some things and no other city has quite been the same. They have all been enjoyable, but they just don't scratch the same itch that this city did. I would love to see this city make a comeback. Even a post-apocalyptic type game where you basically wipe out most of the city and bring it back from the end and make it even more successful than ever
I started playing that map after you started up New Tealand because the map looked so cool, and I love the look of the map, it does look absolutely amazing....but unfortunately it has a TON of problems that made me abandon it! It's like the guy who made it never actually playtested it before publishing it. The train lines are an absolute mess and get clogged up far too easily, the existing road network just...doesn't work. The junctions look really cool, but they're massively over designed and quickly get horrendous traffic jams once you start building any towns or cities off of them, the existing dam doesn't function or give off any power, and trying to replace it with a functioning dam is almost impossible, and causes untold, endless amounts of flooding, and just to build anything on the map requires you to destroy tonnes of decorations first because nearly every rock and tree is counted like a structure that can't be built over. I swear I spent more time destroying, moving or rebuilding things than I actually spent building a city. It became too frustrating to work with. The map actually weirdly reminded me of the Sims 4, where you'd download an amazing looking house someone had uploaded to the gallery but once you actually started playing in it, you'd quickly realize that the person who made it had spent so long decorating it and adding 'stuff' that they hadn't bothered to test it and see if it actually functioned. They use cheats to fill the rooms with so much junk to 'add detail', and move/position things in ways that the base game doesn't let you, that they hadn't realized your sim can't actually use the majority of the furniture and/or appliances because it's just too cramped and cluttered in there, meaning you'd have to delete and move a ton of stuff just to make the place actually functional, which kind of defeats the point of making it look so good in the first place!
Good to see it back! One thing I'd like to see happen is to connect the highway over the little islands to the other end of the city to stop it being a dead end.
Hey Biffa... any chance you can put some thought into a overall DLC video? Ive been following these series a while and love the game, however I've only ever had the base game and have been struggling with really wanting the more thorough playstyle such as this or the new Biffalo Countea. However looking through the DLC packs there is just way too much for me to unpack there... and I would love if you could give us a good walkthrough of what you actually use in each playthrough and with using mods, what DLC is needed or not needed, and what comes from which pack. Im obviously not interested in radio stations, or even necessarily an individual playthrough of each DLC on their own. More just the ability to do more things as a whole. Thoughts on the topic? Sorry for an outrageously long comment!

if CPP can make over 110 episodes of Verde Beach you can keep New Tealand going for a while. Redevelopment is OK too
To be fair, CPP can spend an entire episode working on about five buildings, so I'm not sure there's a comparison :D

The only realistic way of you running a road up that mountain is from the otherside of the map. It'll work with the hill mod you use

I had something similar happen to my original city, which I keep going back to each time a new DLC comes out. I had a few 'New Tealand' moments myself - had more than half my population die-off which sent it into a downward spiral, but I am happy to say I was able to bring it back as well. These cities are like our children in a way. Cheers
It would be an interesting experiment to start a new city on the same map without the intention of recreating New Tealand and see what develops. There would probably be many similarities as the map limits and inspires what may be places where. But with more experience, new mods, new content, and perhaps accepting different advice from commentators (though the majority could provide the same feedback as in the original series).

One way to fix the services for those isolated spots on tops of mountains, is to simply make a tunnel system that covers them. As it's just to deal with a weakness in the game, you can just use some 1u roads and don't bother with steepness or anything like that.
Limit the road to service vehicles, and have a short bit of road pop up in each spot. On the places where the road connects to the normal road network you should have all the services close by, and that will take care of all the issues.
One of your best builds hands down I would come live there if it was a real city.

Best map in the game. Not many places you can just chuck a grid in there. It makes you have to be creative. More on New Tealand please.

I gotta say, New Tealand made me feel some things and no other city has quite been the same. They have all been enjoyable, but they just don't scratch the same itch that this city did. I would love to see this city make a comeback. Even a post-apocalyptic type game where you basically wipe out most of the city and bring it back from the end and make it even more successful than ever

I started playing that map after you started up New Tealand because the map looked so cool, and I love the look of the map, it does look absolutely amazing....but unfortunately it has a TON of problems that made me abandon it! It's like the guy who made it never actually playtested it before publishing it.
The train lines are an absolute mess and get clogged up far too easily, the existing road network just...doesn't work. The junctions look really cool, but they're massively over designed and quickly get horrendous traffic jams once you start building any towns or cities off of them, the existing dam doesn't function or give off any power, and trying to replace it with a functioning dam is almost impossible, and causes untold, endless amounts of flooding, and just to build anything on the map requires you to destroy tonnes of decorations first because nearly every rock and tree is counted like a structure that can't be built over.
I swear I spent more time destroying, moving or rebuilding things than I actually spent building a city. It became too frustrating to work with.
The map actually weirdly reminded me of the Sims 4, where you'd download an amazing looking house someone had uploaded to the gallery but once you actually started playing in it, you'd quickly realize that the person who made it had spent so long decorating it and adding 'stuff' that they hadn't bothered to test it and see if it actually functioned.
They use cheats to fill the rooms with so much junk to 'add detail', and move/position things in ways that the base game doesn't let you, that they hadn't realized your sim can't actually use the majority of the furniture and/or appliances because it's just too cramped and cluttered in there, meaning you'd have to delete and move a ton of stuff just to make the place actually functional, which kind of defeats the point of making it look so good in the first place!
Good to see it back! One thing I'd like to see happen is to connect the highway over the little islands to the other end of the city to stop it being a dead end.
Returning to New Tealand and getting an update and new content, this will be good to watch. I'm glad it's back.

Hey Biffa... any chance you can put some thought into a overall DLC video? Ive been following these series a while and love the game, however I've only ever had the base game and have been struggling with really wanting the more thorough playstyle such as this or the new Biffalo Countea. However looking through the DLC packs there is just way too much for me to unpack there... and I would love if you could give us a good walkthrough of what you actually use in each playthrough and with using mods, what DLC is needed or not needed, and what comes from which pack. Im obviously not interested in radio stations, or even necessarily an individual playthrough of each DLC on their own. More just the ability to do more things as a whole. Thoughts on the topic? Sorry for an outrageously long comment!
