    Pretty sure you'll need to add in some kind of road crossing near the station and a ped tunnel/bridge to get round the back. At the moment those in the middle by the station will have to walk all the way down the junction, just to walk all the way back to the station.

      Also worth noting that all of the emergency services are on the other side of the tracks from the houses. Definitely need at least a few mid block crossing points.

    You should include more crossings across the railway, or raise the railway and do a raised rail station. It would be more realistic, the residents (as it stands) need to go the all way round to the services and schools. Btw nice video and good job

    • @ramrunnr
      @ramrunnr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The over the rail crossing could be restricted to emergency vehicles only so they could cross and get to the houses, but everything else has to go to the end and around.

    • @richiekarlik9643
      @richiekarlik9643 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ramrunnr yeah, or there could be pedestrian only bridge. Emergency vehicles can cross it and people too, great compromise.

    It's a good start for that new area, however it needs a few small commercial stores around the train station area. Also I think you should have used several resorts from the Seaside content pack, they can be on the beaches facing the airport with a similar decorated beach as those houses and they would fit this theme. If tourists came in by airport, or people had to wait over night for another flight, they'd love to stay at a quaint beach resort instead of at the airport.

    A few small shops and maybe a tourist center for the locals and the visitors to shop at so they don't have a long drive for things could help the area realism.

    Hi Biffa! I'll echo a few other commenters re: more crossings. Also, need some good food spots and maybe a shop or two for local goods. Possibly a fish market? I'd imagine fresh-caught local fish would be a huge deal in a place like that. LOVING the New Tealand revival series. Such a great city. You do a wonderful job Biffa! Cheers!

    Such a nice idea to neatly incorporate the rail line between roads. I would suggest to raise the rail line and have the raised station, as the line is already in the air. 😉

    • @allyspeedruns

    Hey Biffa, loving the build as usual :) Here's the feedback:
    - For the love of God add some pedestrian crossings at the train track.
    - If you want to expand the power line, you could have it go between the side road and the track. If you don't, maybe have it end at some sort of power station
    - You can use BOB to remove the trees and parking at the train station so it doesn't go in to the road
    - Maybe change the small roads and use the bike lane variant.
    - The train line over the road needs some supports.

  • @L08Productions
    @L08Productions ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Elevated trainline and train station would be better in the long run, I think. With all the traffic that will be caused in the future if you add hotels to the area those little roads that connect to the train line will probably get stuck waiting for trains to pass. And you would have that weird slope at the start of the island on the train tracks. Also, a foot path to get from the main road to the road on the back would help people get to the train station faster.

    Biffa I said this once to before and I will say it again you are a master at this game and you are a true artist. The detail of work you do is absolutely astounding and shows such love and care and what you do.
    I always enjoy watching your videos because you bring back memories of me watching my father working from home at his drawing board drawing a comic strip or some other project he was working on.
    Also I have a small idea for your city that you might want to consider adding. I saw on the steam workshop that there's an asset of a coral reef that you might want to consider adding to the shoreline by the houses since it would look kind of cool and maybe put some boats or marina by the homes as well.
    In addition, thank you for what you do and thank you for sharing your show and work with us and I look forward to seeing the next one.

    For the new area, you need to improve pedestrian connectivity and add a small couple of low-density commercial buildings. At any tourist spot in the caribbean you'll have at walk-able distance an Ice Cream spot, a Pharmacy, a Sea Food restaurant, a Fast Food restaurant, a Liquor Store, a Convenience Store, and a small scale Super Market/Grocery store (given the space limitations of the island, I'd say most of those could be unified into a single mid scale building). Often times vacation groups at Pool & Beach parties are not willing (and shouldn't) drive far to buy more snacks and booze (those always run out).

    new tealand international and that midcentury island is pretty reminiscent of the airport in honolulu, hawai'i. admittedly, a good chunk of the surrounds there is an air force base, but there's plenty of civilian housing as well. a lovely addition to an already gorgeous setting - so glad you were able to resurrect new tealand!

    “Sometimes you press record and it records. Sometimes you press record and it doesn’t.” Thank you Biffa, I’ve always wondered about that 😁
    Also, the train stations use station tracks, so once you deleted the station tracks and replaced with regular tracks, it removed the ability to create a stop.

    Hey Biffa how about for one of the other islands next to it you can do a little havana/old San Juan look or even a New Jersey board walk look with all the little board walk shops like t shirt shops and pizzerias, also a pier on the beach as well with some rides would look really cool

  • @dmore
    @dmore ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The new island is really beautiful. I feel like the one thing missing is some coastguard presence. With so many people sure to be in the ocean it seems like a sure fire place for something like that and it would make for a new kind of asset for the city.

  • @AceClown
    @AceClown ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Biffa, you really need a pedestrian overpass from the train station, the poor cims are going to exit on the main through road and then have to walk all the way to either end of the island to get to the points of interest! (in real life they would also skip over the tracks which is also bad)

    Superb beach front properties and lovely detailing to give them a great sense of realism - definitely one of the prime sections of real-estate in New Tealand. One improvement I would make is a way for the beach-front owners to walk over the road to the station, bus stops, schools, health centre etc - perhaps an overpass / underpass or some road crossings would be great.

    Looking at the aerial view at 33:30, I'm tempted to say New Tealand was unwittingly built atop a volcano that long ago blew its head off and now all that's left is the rim of the cone (the islands) surrounding a caldera.

    Here in New Zealand, theres a little law that we have that you should probably know about. It is called the Pool Fencing Act, and it requires every swimming pool to be completely enclosed by a fence. Even if a property is completely fenced, the pool must also still have its own fully enclosed fence. It is designed to prevent drowning accidents involving small children.

  • @andrewwhewell6422
    @andrewwhewell6422 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Everything looks great, however it needs some fencing next to the Trainline to stop the kiddiewinks from walking onto it... Incorporating transport into this build was great however I'm not sure the bus was necessary to connect to airport and the other islands... That's what the train is for, the bus should just get from train station to local amenities/properties for those that cannot/will not walk. Small number of small buses doing short routes with metro/train doing the heavy lifting

  • @slosubies4845

    An alternative to having several crosswalks across the 4-lane to get from the train station to the beachfront would be to have a CCW circulator bus route, servicing just the train station and the beachfront neighborhood.

    That looks quite a bit like some random barrier island around South Florida. The sand isn't quite right, but the buildings are 100% Palm Beach. I've lived in Florida for nearly 43 years, with the first 25 or so in Palm Beach County, so I'm very familiar with it. The creator did a fantastic job on the buildings.

    You should had some space to allow the people to turn around. Some people have to go the the bridge (almost), then go back, to go to the airport for example. I know it's ok in CS, anyone can walk, but you have to allow u-turn at the train station at least.

    There are some pedestrian crossing "parks" in the Workshop that are towers (with alleged stairs) that you put an elevated path to. They're nice and compact for the sort of crossing you need here, even if they are a bit odd--they work! Saves quite a bit of space.

    A little commercial with pedestrian access across the railway would round this out nicely. One piece of critisism that really stood out to me: all the residences along the beach have exactly the same shade of tile in exactly the same pattern. Lovely work. All it needs is a viewing deck on the airport side with binoculars.

    looking great! is there an option to turn the beachfront into white sand so it doesn't look like dirt?

    You should maybe name the beach island something like Teaisle of man or something of the sorts, or a name close to Isle of Man!

    I love when you accidently flood the area, it's so relatable because I do they often also 😂

    I'm still way behind so maybe you've fixed this, but the exposed backyards are very unrealistic in my opinion. Maybe it's different in other parts of the world but where I am you absolutely cannot have an unfenced pool, and I can't even think of a single private beach. The property lines would end with a rear fence, maybe with a gate so you can get to the beach easily, but a fully fenced in backyard would be mandatory and also preferable for privacy. There would most likely be a public path that runs between the private houses and the public beach, or if not people would still walk along the beach behind the houses, so perhaps an invisible path could do the trick.

    I really like when you start decorating in that way. I think the island needs a school bus that loop the island and many pedestrian bridge. See u next time @biffa

    Great build! A couple of pedestrian overhead, or underground, walkways along that long road would allow more access to the train station and schools and clinic.

    This build on this island reminds me of Dewey Beach, Delaware. It's just a wide sand bar, one major road going down the center with bungalows, stilt houses, three story condo/flats, bunch of hotels, a couple marinas, a lots of restaurants and tshirt shops. One little area about 4 blocks long, is bar after bar after bar.

    I really don't think this narrow strip of land is a good fit (no pun intended) for any kind of residential area. I'd look at some of the larger islands in the same region instead.
    That said, you made it look really good! Once a bit of Leisure/Tourism commercial zoning takes place, I'm sure the residents are ready to forget about the noise from the nearby airport and 24/7 trains.
    I love the mid century assets, btw. I'd like to work in that library.

    That tom pop up really caught me off guard lmao. Little suggestion, you should make some sort of artificial island filled with marina or some sort so it make dubai-ish resort paradise

    Nice job, I would have gone with elevated rail what with the bridges at both ends of the track. It would also mean uninterrupted road traffic on the island

    Instead of Using the simple Train station ... maybe use like a underground or sunken station? and instead of a 1 lane main road.. might be an idea to use 2. incase of emergency vehicles? so they can get easier through

    Maybe you need a little bit more of pedestrian-friendly infraestructure. More pedestrian crossings in the main road and some ped-bridges over the railway. Also, public acess to the beach would be nice

    Looks great, love the look of that district, only thing I would say aside from the others mentioned is the Schools, library, police and fire depts appear to need some concrete foundation as they go straight out onto the grass.

    My thought is to add paths to the beaches, on both sides, for public access. Right now only those who live on the beach have access and that is just on one side.

      You're not wrong - but that doesn't stop them building there. It's a subject getting a bit of attention in NZ at the moment too, in the aftermath of some big storms this summer... clifftop houses ending up at the bottom of the cliff, beachside places getting hammered by waves, houses on floodplains being submerged...

    The likely reason the train station didn't work originally is because the track type is different in a station vs outside of a station. CityWokCityWall covered this on one of his Mars build videos where they spend several hours trying to get custom train stations to work.

    Looks great, nicely done! Slightly worried about pedestrians though. What it they live opposite the station? That's a long walk down to the nearest junction. Might be worth adding some crossing nodes...
