After my parents married, I bless the day they decided to settle in my mother's home town (Milwaukee) rather than his (Buffalo, where you are). We still get some whopper snow storms but not the volume you get. I suspect the difference comes down to being west of the lake rather than east. BTW, this video prompted me to finally grease my Ariens' augers. Thanks, man!

Great video, learned a lot. one side did it your way, the other side I taped over the sheer pin holes and put a screw clamp over the tape the grease got to the end quicker.
Thanks to your channel and a neighbor down the street I went through my machine with a fine tooth comb (brand new Airens) and it's ready to go...the factory had a light film of grease on most internal components and barley any grease on the auger...
I've got an Ariens compact 24 I bought last year. I did this procedure today. It only has one zirc per side. I found that you will lose less grease if you leave the shear pins in the first time, then remove them, do the spins, and regrease. On the second greasing, using a pnuematic grease gun, I put my fingers over the shear pin holes, still l lost grease because my fingers tips aren't as strong as 50psi, but it still helped moving grease to the sides. Cleaned the pins and reinserted.

I've greased my augers in the past on my 28inch Ariens but I've never checked on the orientation of the augers before I put the sheer pins back in. What is the proper orientation or how do I check the orientation? At 5:16 in the video, it's mentioned when facing the front of the machine that on the left auger the edge toward the middle should be up and on the right auger the edge toward the middle is pointing out. Is that true in most cases with an Ariens machine?

The 24" only has one zerk on each auger vs your two per auger. Is there anything I can do to better grease my ariens 24? Or is filling the one zerk per auger gonna be enough? Thanks for the vids!
I have an ARIENS deluxe 28 SHO 2023 model and my dealer got it all prepared for me when it comes to greasing everything and oil. But obviously they don’t rustproof it themselves so I rustproof it and hopefully that rustproofing holds, i’m from upstate New York, and the snow here is unpredictable.

Hey munday! There can be on some models. Check your manual and look at how the augers are positioned. MTD snowblowers can have multiple augers with multiple shear pins. You’ll want the augers to line up with each other.
I am thinking about drilling, taping, threading and inserting my own zert. Did it back in the Late 1950. es.. thanks I'll try to find the piece you mentioned.

Good morning JB! I found a grease fitting behind one of the tires, on the body of the unit. My question is what is that for also what about internal parts lubrication? Left/right auger orientation is a thing?? 🤔 I gotta take a peak at mine now. I don’t have a torque wrench but I always thought sheer pins should be left with a little up n down slack. Am I wrong here? Merry Christmas to you and your family JB!
Hey Apex! Best to just put them back the way they were! Some models this matters. For this Ariens I’m going by the manual with the torque setting but I agree with you I have done that before as well! I wouldn’t lose sleep or over think it. Merry Christmas my friend! 👍👍

It would be nice if you could order your new snowblower from the factory with everything assembled with anti-seize as needed. Just watched Donnyboy getting an impeller off a shaft. Been there-done that. Personally I think there is a conspiracy between my oxygen-acetylene dealer and the snowblower manufacturers.

HOW ABOUT SHOWING US HOW TO REBUILD THE NEW GEAR CASE.ON THE ARIENS SNOWBLOWER . I HAVE LEAKING SEALS ON A PLATINUM SHO 30 GEARCASE # 52104100. THESE GEAR CASE DON'T SPLIT APART, THE TOP COVER COMES OFF BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DISMANTLE IT.
I decided to do mine and after having done one it's not so bad. It's figuring out how to take it apart, once you done that putting it back together wasn't as hard , just a little bit of time aligning it together to slide the shaft in . Saved quite a few bucks from buying a new one. Thanks for your reply. @@GarageGear
