    HOW TO LUBRICATE DRIVE AXLES ON A SNOWBLOWER (Avoid Issues). If you have a NEW SNOWBLOWER or an OLDER snowblower, here is a step you DON”T WANT TO SKIP! LUBRICATING THE DRIVE AXLES. In most cases, on most snowblowers you will have to TAKE THE WHEELS OFF at some point to do some MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. And if the wheels are SEIZED onto the drive shaft you are about to have a bad day. In this video, I go over how to properly REMOVE THE WHEELS from your snowblower, LUBRICATE the axles and put everything back the way you found it. I even throw in some BONUS TIPS along the way. Thanks, J.B. I just bought a Brand New Ariens 28 Deluxe on Monday, November 27th. from a Dealer here in the Detroit Metro Area. I had been watching other videos about lubricating the drive axel, but your video is the best. Thanks for the explanation about the autoturn; now I understand why the right side is different from the left. Thanks, for demonstrating how to tip the snowblower into the Service Position; yours is the only video demonstrating that. Also, thanks for showing how to remove the back cover (in only two seconds); again, yours is the only video demonstrating that.

    If someone has a lot of fuel left in the tank prior to rotating the machine into the service position, an additional tip would be to turn the fuel valve off, run the machine until the carb is dry, then put a plastic bag underneath the fuel cap to prevent it from leaking out.

    Hey JB,
    Great video! I actually just did this today. Regarding the left wheel, there is no E clip on this wheel correct? I thought I was missing it.
    Also, the two bolts on the top of the belly pan are shorter than the other four.

    I have a question.. I have a new wheeled Honda. The service book says to remove the tires to complete an oil change. The oil drain is behind the tire. How do I go from the service position back to horizontal with no tire on it ? Or can I do the oil change while it's vertical? The manual is a bit vague. It doesn't show any jack points in it and where the snowblower is 250 lbs, I'm a bit worried to just drop it on blocks. maybe I could drop the non wheeled axel on a block ?

    Hey JB! I recently bought a used craftsman snowblower, I believe it’s a 1995 model, with the 5hp tecumseh engine, 5 speed fwd, 2 speed reverse. And the previous owner told me he uses 93 premium gas with stabilizer in it. Should I continue to use it as he has, or flush the system and use ethanol free gas ?

    I just did the anti seize on the axle and put it back together. What I noticed however is that sitting still, the snowblower walks back very slowly now when I don't think it did before (maybe I didn't notice). I followed your instructions in the video. Any idea on why its happening? It's from the motor vibrating and making it go backwards.
    Also, is it normal for there to be a slight gap between the tire and the side of the machine on each side that allows a little play between the tires when pushing them back and forth? I noticed theres like a 1/8 inch gap between the tire and the inside of the machine.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey spectre as far as the machine moving a little goes I have seen this before. Just make sure your drive plate isn’t touching the friction disc while in idle mode. If it is some adjustments will need to be made. Other than that it made just be the engine vibration causing the machine to move a little. Put a block of wood by a tire to keep it in place. The wheel gap you mentioned is also normal.👍

    • @spectre3492
      @spectre3492 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GarageGear Thanks for the tip, so it doesn't matter if melting snow gets on the 1/8 inch spot between the wheel and the snowblower body? It's exposed there when it slides back and forth.
      One other thing is that I put some anti-seize on the teeth for the part that slides back in for the auto turn. Is this a big deal? I ran the snowblower today for a little snow we got and it didn't seem to cause an issue but you didn't put any on in the video.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@spectre3492 hey spectre you could coat that gap with fluid film or some more anti seize. Either will do if you’re concerned about that space. A coating once a year should do!

      Hey my friend! That’s a great question that I don’t have a perfect answer to but I can tell you this. I have used this same container for years and one application I did years ago held up fine. I took the wheels off three years later and it still looked good! 👍

      @@GarageGearFrankly, I use the nickle version when changing my auto tires because that was all that was available on the store self when I bought the stuff. But my understanding is that the nickel anti seize is for nut and bolt threads and I should be using the copper based anti seize on car wheels and axle plates. However, I don't think it matters much in the snowblower application, although my car dealer used the copper version on the wheels and the bolts when I couldn't get my licence plate off. Cheers - enjoy your content.
