This build brings a smile every episode, love the fact life is being breathed into an ole 'Rana' with all the scars of life left, brilliant build, great work.
@ Cheers back atcha mate. 🥃 Crook backs are the shittest. The SHITTEST! Enjoy your time there as much as you can, and seeing this thing hit the Nullarbor will be better and more satisfying than anything on Netflix etc. Full stop. Great work.
Solid work mate. Love the videos and the fact you're helping such a good bloke I could actually see the bearings repairing themselves as you painted the block. Wrecker reconditioned 👍 Thanks for sharing the adventure
That Holden is coming along pretty nice. To think that some weeks ago it was just scrap metal! Anyways, can't wait for the next installment! Cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina, mate!
138's were in LJ's as well. That was my first car... 72 Torana S two door bog standard white roof over Balmoral green 138 3. Speed Column manual. Didn't even come standard with a cigarette lighter 😂. But loving the series for sure. Thank you for sharing 👍
Absolutely loving these videos mate and this series, been back through your older videos too as I am new to your channel ( I’m follower from DJ’s channel)
that coil you put on is for the electronic dizzy might end up burning out the points higher voltage i give it a 70% chance of making it across the nullabor lol
Awesome work Paul especially with a sore back. The car is coming together nicely and it will be a nice drive across the nullarbor. Watch ya back and keep up the great work, thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍
Great series and the progress is amazing. Just going from past experience you have a 12v elec coil on a points ignition. It won’t work properly with the ballast and points.
@@unclebrentsshed4253 if i can i would like to come over for 1 of the demo derbys then buy a market places special then drive back stopping in at different youtube mates shed
Just found your channel through DJ on the series, subscribed already. That time-lapse bearing packing was too good, as a diesel mechanic who's done his fair share of bearing services.
Back in 83 my mate had a gtr torana we were driving along and done a timing gear and rolled up to a phone box how convenient that was No mobile phone back then
Love how you are getting stuck into this and it’s great to see an old girl come back to life. What are the future plans for this, do you plan on fixing and painting the body in the future?
Just ccarby and extractors make a big difference to a Holden red. When you get it running, can you take DJ out onto the track and show why toranas are special.

The cam is one thing, but we all know that the real horsepower boost comes from the chrome thermostat housing.
Greetings from Liz in Victoria.

Great job guys! The 138 red motor also had from factory lumpy top pistons😯
Hmmm didn’t know that 👌🏻
I have a rusty xe fairmont ghia your giving me inspiration to reshell my xe. keep up the good work that torana will be a beast once its on the road

Gee I kind of wish you'd get media attention because what you are doing is inspiring to many! Or perhaps you don't want that kind of attention...?
Cheers mate, I’m just doing it for myself and to encourage others to get out and create, any attention is good though 🍻

Those red Holden straight sixes were pretty bullet proof, but No point half doing the job, do it right do it once!!
Not really, my mates old boys LJ GTR has a warranty replacement HQ 202 in it. Lunched the original back in the 70's 😂

I had solid lifters in my HP179 bored to 192. Improved it no end.
Having a win, should be a pretty good mobile spare parts department when it's done 🙂
I think you need a bit more paint on that section of chassis with the rust repair 😂
Yeah? Ok 😜
Good on ya mate. Memmory. When say change steering. I I think move the. Nope new steering wheel. Hehe God bless mate. )

Just ccarby and extractors make a big difference to a Holden red. When you get it running, can you take DJ out onto the track and show why toranas are special.
Haha no worries 😉🍻
I had a lc 138 4 on the floor factory, it went well for a 2250 cc car
Alloy timing gears are the way to go. I had them.
Did you ensure the drive gear on the distributor was the earlier steel type and not the later plastic type?
Sure did 👌🏻
Very cool.
Cheers
I thought the 35603 cam recommended heavy duty springs, from crows blurb anyhow.
Not according to the spec sheet and supplier 🤷🏻♂️
@@oldskoolonlyfair enough, no probs if you’re not going to 6k revs anyhow.
Does this have tags still
Of course ya wouldn’t put the oem cam back in it😇you have to kick your own arse then! Looks real good man😎

I didn't see a spigot bearing go in
Lols were you really watching the time lapse that closely? 🤣
