great vid bro helps me alot to learn new stuff as a player who defined as shooter there is good drils , always there is a way to become more good player thanks bro
Something I've noticed recently that I see in a lot of great shooters especially booker and Klay is that just like their shooting hand they put space in the palm of their off hand and use just the pressure of their fingers to guide the ball and Devin will sometimes even take his entire thumb off the ball on his lift
Something I've also noticed with great shooters is that on release their off hand arm doesn't fully extend it kinda locks up at the elbow the same time the hand comes off the ball
I'm not a pro coach but I had a similar problem, what I did was first(without the ball) I would go through my shooting motion and really try to focus on the flick, think of curry, his wrist flicks so hard it bounces, I tried to emulate that kind of flick then when it came to the acc shooting the flick was in my muscle memory and ready to put it into my game
Just look at different people on TH-cam talking about mechanics. Or read manga if u want lol. Like Takehiko Inoue Slam Dunk or his other Basketball story. I haven't read the other one yet but it gives u insight on how a person in the story talks about how the ball should be on ur hand if ur bad at shooting in the first place it would help, in one of the chapters.
Lie on your back on the ground/bed and aim directly above yourself - you will only be able to use your forearm, fingers and wrist to generate power for the ball. Start with a tennis ball first, then move to progressively heavier balls. Also add Mike Tyson push-ups and tricep dips to your conditioning. You will notice a different. I also have seen Olympic athletes use medicine balls to do shooting for 10 minutes then swap back to their normal size ball and get Alot more distance
I can sit here and set you screens all day just to make things easier cause I really care about is setting screens and playing defense passing shooting shot blocking rebounding hustling guarding guys that are much bigger and taller than me too the best offensive player on the floor doing the little things and I was in the NBA I would prefer to come off the bench and earn my playing time and in every single way too which is exactly my point
So I've been in an awful shooting slump lately and I'm trying to figure out why I've been shooting horrible in both pick up and league games. When I'm shooting practice shots I'm shooting an excellent percentage and then I'm getting the exact same shots in games and missing them. It might be mental I'm not sure and it's not like they're heavily contested they're good rhythm shots off the catch that I've been accustomed to knocking down. The other day I literally got shots up for a whole hour right before playing and they felt pure and soon as the game started the same shots I was practicing I was fucking bricking its so frustrating. Worst part about it is that there were non shooters who were hitting more shots than me. And I know what I'm capable of Ive been playing for a while and I've gotten hot plenty of times not too long ago I just don't know what's been happening in the past few weeks any advice would help.
This comment might come late but it’s all about confidence. I’m in the mindset where makes don’t matter and misses don’t matter. All that matters is can I hit the last shot I took? And if yes then why did I miss? After that hunt for the next one. Don’t fall in the trap of comparing yourself to non shooters and question why they’re hitting and you’re not. You know you are a shooter and don’t need to worry about the skills of anybody else.

i was the exact same when i was early 14, im still only 15 but i’ve been able to change my mentality and workout routine and now the main way i contribute to offense is knocking down threes.
If you can hit mid range shots, you should be able to hit 3s. You might want to make adjustments to your shot though if you are constantly missing short. E.g. lowering your release point, shooting on the way up/shooting in one motion or even just shooting with a higher arc
u are probably more of a set shooter and should bend your knees more when shooting from farther away or you are shooting with too much arc and should lower your release point slightly.
Your strength is still developing, and the 3 is probably just outside of your natural range of your comfortable shot form (especially if you've got a 2 part shot). You can dip a bit deeper into your shot pocket and rise up with through the balls of your feet to try to pull strength from your legs and core to boost your natural arm and shoulder strength.

I think on long range 2s and on 3s the elbow should be above eye level b4 release starts to gain more momentum or sumn like that
Footwork and having a strong base is key!!!
Thank you
