  • Foxbody mustang came in for tuning and turned into a good bit more. For each step forward we went 2 steps back, but finally got it squared away and running good. im sure this one will make its way back to turn it up to make some more power. Turbo was the 0n 3 70mm.

    Your a patient guy Joe. Alot of people would have thrown in the towel or at least been pretty upset with the customer. You took it as a personal challenge. Much respect brother.

    I like these dyno videos and you explaining your process. It gives me some insight on things to look for when I attempt to start tuning my project. I’m reading a few efi tuning books and the information in the Holley software while I’m deployed. Also I really like the fabrication videos you put out. Keep it going!

Thank you for all that you do Sir. If I ever am in need - you can count on my business. And if you have merch, I will be purchasing. God Bless.

    Innovate wideband are JUNK! I went through 4 of their 4.2 sensors in a year tuning various cars. I switched to an AEM 30-0300 and I haven't looked back. I will be getting a 30-0334 for the OBDII cars soon.

    • @andreasanai3542
      @andreasanai3542 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Innovate wideband are problematic when used into the tailpipe. The sensor Life Is very short due to the thermal management.

    • @jaydubb71
      @jaydubb71 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andreasanai3542 I've tuned cars with hard mounted Innovate widebands that just failed for no reason. 4.2 and 4.9. It's crazy because they use the same sensors as everyone else but always show a failure for noooooooo reason. I took a "failed" 4.9 from an Innovate controller, literally plugged it into an AEM controller once and IT WORKED JUST FINE. Fluke? Maybe. Didn't continue to use it or anything....

    What ended up to be the best timing for it at 13 psi , curious as I have very similar build and use 19 at 10.5 psi . But a bit fat at 10.4 afr

  • @pete540Z
    @pete540Z 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is your "old faithful" WBO2? Is it LSU 4.9?
    I often wonder if it was the Innovate LC-1 I have that has been the cause of my troubles with an old megasquirt self-tuning issue, and with trying to tune the different circuits in my Holley Carb with it. I plan on trashing the LC-1.
    Not sure if I will go with a Terminator X or Holley HP. Your videos are helping me decide.

    • @JoeSimpsonAtTempest
      @JoeSimpsonAtTempest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have the money the HP is far superior, but it’s hard to ignore the price or the terminator.
      I have a couple of motec plm widebands and then the dyno has a built in wideband as well.
      The ballinger air fuel meter is the best affordable one out there

  • @Go4BrokeOffroad

    Watching this gives me anxiety. Do you think it was an install issue, a less than ideal design or the microsquirt? I have a turbo 5.0 ranger with a micro. I haven't had Any issues so far, but I need to get it to a Dyno.

    I'm running the innovative o2 and so far I haven't noticed any issue.... although it could explain some tuning trouble I've been having.... you said you switched to your "go to" sensor, which one would that be? perhaps its time to try something better....

    • @JoeSimpsonAtTempest
      @JoeSimpsonAtTempest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @RobCatley
      @RobCatley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeSimpsonAtTempest well, at your level that isn't too surprising. I'm just doing this as a hobby to make a fun fox...thought I would get the base 5L engine running well with MS3x and the innovative WBs, then try to add stuff like turbos, cams, etc. I have found that it tunes okay....but it does odd things now and then. I was just checking out the motec stuff looks pretty good, but I can't find anything on how to wire it into the MS3x, don't suppose you'd have a simple wiring layout of what would go where, would you?
