    I don't watch any other dj'ing channel. Really there's no point, because you break it down to what the art actually is and don't puff it up with elitism, technobabble and veiled shilling for corporations. By demystifying, you actually make the art more relevant and vital. And your experiences are so very interesting and valuable. There have been moments when I've been low at trying to get venues to respond to me, but your videos have kept my mood bright so I don't give up. I feel like the past three years have been an attack on true revelry, perhaps in order the corporations can move in and monopolise on nightlife, so many smaller venues now struggling, and it has felt to me like the devil himself has tried to stop the dance, the real dance, from happening. But like I say, your videos have kept my spirits up.

    THANK YOU!!! Ever since I started learning how to DJ a couple of years ago, I've always struggled to mix metal and rock (my first loves in music). This helps sooo much!

    I learned exactly this recently when I played my first wedding. The couple had very specific song requests from pop to rock to metal. As a Tech House / Bass House DJ I quickly realised that as long as I was playing the bangers and had sick track selection and watched the dance floor like a hawk people were happy ... sure it meant I couldn't do my usual tricks and sick transitions but it honestly didn't matter, people were stoked.

      Well said. It's funny as even though at pop events you may not be playing tracks you like personally, but the energy on the dance floor can still be super exhilarating :) Thanks for sharing

    I've been a long time metalhead and club dj, but only now after all these years have I thought about putting these two worlds together like you've shown here. That simple mix from closer to down with the sickness inspired me to digitize and load my alternative and metal collection into rekordbox. So many possibilities.

  • @Thunderhead357
    @Thunderhead357 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    As you know rock music has so many different sub genres. I play them on my dj sets. From death/industrial metal and punk all the way to glam and classic rock. Trying to get all of this to blend in can be hard work particularly if someone comes up and asks for requests which can sometimes kill the vibe. I always draw up a playlist which matches the venue and the people that frequent them. Taking your advice is priceless in the way it works. Great video!

    cue points.Quicker mixes like a chop or echo out or fade out after using cue points.Also knowing your tunes so you can better handle beats that vary and in clubs like this programming your set is key.I started djing mixing rock pop dance and alternative.What we call open format now.Sometimes one can re drum a track or re edit it to make it more mixable.I am no good at beat gridding so i just try to learn the key points that i can mix on and having it all in order of bpms and key helps though in the days of vinyl that meant some trial error at finding what worked when sorting out a crate.

    Hi Andrew, your classes really made an impact in my life, I went from being a frustrated bedroom dj to play for 500 people every Saturday as a resident. Unfortunately I can't afford the full course (the exchange rate in Argentina is insane), but I'm glad that you keep posting long videos.
    May I suggest a topic for a video?: How do you convey emotions throughout a set, how do you mix different feelings, how to reach people on a deeper level beyond dancing

    • @ClubReadyDJSchool
      @ClubReadyDJSchool  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your video dj success mindset is what revealed to me you’re a true teacher, then I started watching your other stuff and the the way you teach while explaining all the stuff I would think to ask and teachers might not think to explain because it’s common knowledge in the industry, teaching is more than just knowing it’s understanding the beginners mindset and reaching them where they are and using all that experience that you’ve gotten through all the different things you’ve done to have the perspective to guide people in the right direction, thank you for the videos

    Dj stuff aside you’re one of the best instructors I’ve ever heard/seen, I would love some long form content, for those new to djing I think your approach really makes an impact, I’m 26 and just getting into mixing and whereas other channels have very technical information and stuff they offer what I see from you I haven’t seen anywhere else is your genuine contagios positive that makes me want to KEEP watching the whole video, I have adhd so some days it’s hard to focus on longer videos, not a problem here lol

    Really interesting video and right on time for me personally. I started DJ a year and a half ago and learned on trance and house. As I'm getting better I can usually find a way to mix so many more things! Being able to mix more genres than 128 bpm EDM, and it actually sounding great has been one of the most satisfying signs of my progress.
    Great video and advice. Taking my time with the easier music and challenging myself with some different genres and bpms helped so much.

      It's funny as there's certain parts of certain tracks that can never be ignored - meaning let's say I am at a party and everyone's talking and Tool Stinkfist is playing in the background, when that part comes on, I have to give it my full attention - it's too powerful and deserves my respect. Tool - Stinkfist in particular took me from bands like Nirvana and standard verse chorus, verse chorus stuff to the world of progressive rock and IMO Stinkfist has the greatest build up of all time hahaha - thanks for noticing and commenting :)
