Thanks for the updates Mike We really appreciate it, good luck to all in spring run of 2024, enjoy your catches but can you release those Large Female breeder so we can continue to have this great fishery.
Thank you Mike for providing the information. I am planning to start going to Detroit river from the middle of March. Hopefully that the water will be clear
Good question! I've often wondered that myself. Locals have been referring to that area as the "cow pasture" long before I was born in 1972! Well, I assume because it is a large sandy flat that is adjacent to deep water, however, this flat has a gentle slope where it eventually drops off sharply. Also this area has the perfect conditions to produce tall grasses and celery over milfoil. During the summer, these grasses are bent over due to the current, creating an arch where these fish can escape from the daylight sun especially in the shallow area of less than 10fow.
Glad you said it, but let's keep that a secret. We don't have much choice over in the Western Basin of Lake Erie. The fish still have to eat and their lateral lines work well. There's also a reason their name has "eye" in it. They can see much better than we can.
Hi Mike Could you please put a link to that live web cam link? Trying to find a safe place to launch on the American side besides Metro Beach Metro park.

Hey Mike keep the updates coming. Much appreciated coming from Lansing, MI. Why is that region of the river called The Cow Pasture?

@@MikeBorovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES that all makes perfect sense. I wondered if it was due to all the green grass from the parks on shore. Anyway thanks.
Be suprised how dirty it can be and still catch fish..shallow dirty water heats up faster when suns out

@@MikeBorovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES Thank you.
30 days early
Thirty days early? 😲 Not at all!! There are many anglers who fish throughout the winter months as long as the access ramps aren't frozen over.
@rovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES not in the river....lake yes....river no.....don't wan't current with tight eggs
