Mike Borovic - IT's FRIDAY FITCHES!
Canada
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 ธ.ค. 2020
Conceived in a cornfield but nearly born on the banks of the Detroit river, I have never won a Grammy, Emmy, nor received a Nobel prize but I am ecstatic to say that I have caught a walleye or two!
Raised on Lake St Clair and residing in the city of Windsor (Canada). I was born with a Nemo sized pectoral fin and an extra big toe. These extra digits were removed long before I could use them, robbing me of any Super-Powers and ending my traveling circus act before it even began. I am now amongst the rank and file of the working-class tax-paying citizens.
Let's face it, most of us aren’t working the ideal day job which leaves us working for the weekends. And in my case, it is chasing fish! It’s not always about catching fish as it is savoring the good times spent with family and friends and the culture that surrounds us.
My passion is being among the fishing community and fishing industry, teaching, sharing, and learning from others.

Detroit River Walleye Crazy! (a little springtime fun)
มุมมอง 1K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Is the Detroit River as good as people say it is? Well… There Ain’t No Party Like a Detroit Party! The approach is simple. Stay away from everyone else. Finding warm, stained water on a shallow flat, adjacent to deep water will always put fish in your boat during the earliest part of spring. And for the most part, you should have the spot all to yourself. MIKE BOROVIC mike.borovic ...

Locating Spring Walleye In Cold Water
มุมมอง 1.7K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Where are those spring walleyes at? Right after ice-out, nothing trumps warm water. If you want to catch pre-spawn spring Walleye, you have to find them first, and a good start would be in the off-colored water. Dirty and stained water warms faster and holds that warmth longer than clean or moving water. The first places I look to are shallow stained flats near good spawning habitat just off of...

Refillable propane cylinders are the way to go, especially for those who frequently use propane-powered devices. Disposable 1-lb tanks are a hazardous nightmare for waste recovery facilities, landfills, and the environment. The cost of disposables continue to rise and therefore, many are refilling them. The problem with that is these disposables are not structurally designed to be refilled whic...

Big Baits for Big Panfish
มุมมอง 36911 หลายเดือนก่อน
Make no mistake about it, as small as panfish mouths are, they will smash big baits! Especially targeting softwater bluegills. My favorite amongst many large baits is the Case Plastic's, frog-orange colored Hellgrammite. And because it is delicate in means of having a skinny lifelike body, the Eurotackle micro finesse tungsten 1/16oz jig (#4 hook) is the perfect marriage with that soft-lock rub...
Drop-Shot BIG Bodacious Bluegills and FISH Tacos!
มุมมอง 936ปีที่แล้ว
After chasing panfish on Lake St Clair for nearly 40 years, it was time for a road trip. Mike and Linda meet up with friend Andre Casey in southern California for some of the biggest natural-spawning wild bluegills you will ever see. Nearly 100 fish between 10 and 12.5-inches were caught and released while drop-shotting Case Plastic’s Crickets and Hellgrammites. As successful as the slip-float ...

Anglers BANNED From Spring Fishing & Boat Show!
Nice recipe, even better sometimes is to throw a slice of cheese on top of each fillet.
Yes!! I agree.
I picked up a few this week at Walmart
@@rebornhak That's great. I think you'll be pleased.
Hey Mike, why bend the wire? Thinking it might be more effective if its flat. Also looks like the freeze frame is a different swivel connect to the wire at bottom. Is the wire bent to allow weeds to fall off or should it stick up to catch more weeds? Thanks in advance brother.
@Da-LA Honestly I don't know why the wire is bent. I've often wondered the same thing.
@@MikeBorovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES Thanks for the quick reply - I'll try different ways with it - see how it goes. Gamechanger for me tho - thanks again - I've already made a few out of hanger wire. btw I'm going to red/green an in-line styro - bobber with a razer blade imbedded in the top - see how that does -😉😆
Looks pretty effective, I'm gonna give it all a try
Works great! Wait until you get two on at once!
Brovic you are so good at making informational videos !!! I pray to be somewhat the angler you are. Thanks for this ! Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford one of the live scopes
@wincityoutdoors Thanks bro!👊 Livescope is an awesome learning tool and fun to play with, but it isn't necessary.
@@MikeBorovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES I’m tired of fishing old school Mike I WANT THE NEW TOYS
@@wincityoutdoors 😝😝😝Now that I can relate to! I just bought new Traxstech rod trees and I can't even fish for awhile! 😂
That’s your opinion there is petty and more simpler ways to cook walleye
@rogercaya6443 😆😆👌 Have at it Mr Rogers!
Lol
Absolutely they follow jigs, saw them on livescope following my jig while trolling!
Nice knot. Now show us using 6 lb mono as an example... *ARGH!!* 😆😠
If you don't need to have your hook on the tag line, and you are okay with it right on the main leader, just use a Palomar Knot or Dropshot Knot. That might be easier for you.
My dad never has seconds, until I baked this recipe for him. Great recipe!
@tophat2115 That's awesome 👌 I'm happy to hear that. This might interest you, my latest one done with just walleye cheeks. th-cam.com/video/e0UW3-IXPW0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cKXOr11A3yDPrNn3
Mike, where can we find that tool?
I'm not sure where you can find that particular weed guard anymore. Perhaps an internet search throughout the musky anglers community may help. However, it's easy enough to make one out of a coat hanger wire. I don't usually use the wire guard anymore. I much prefer to run a #10 Rapala BX Minnow 5-feet in front of my deep diving cranks.
@MikeBorovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES what about when running a bottom bouncer? Any opinions?
@@twiztd001 The bottom bouncer itself will catch the weeds. If you're using the ones with the wire, even more so.

Sweet video bro! Very helpful
@@AMB_REELZ Thank you! I'm glad it helped.

Your videos are not only informative, but keeps the watchers involved. Nothing seems forced. You have the persona and knowlege to blow up Mike! Keep Keep'n on! You have a new fan 🍻 Now excuse me while i go binge watch the rest of your videos😅
Thank you Nathan!🙏 I appreciate the kind words. Check out these bluegills I was telling you about. Crazy HUGE! th-cam.com/video/p8RzvQ4FPgs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=H_-q4G0vvFw6ERgI
If you don't tune any crankbait to run straight and not off to the side you won't catch a single fish. Storm deep tHUNDERTICKS , Bomber 24 and 25As and Storm Rattle Tots , and #9 Lindy Shadlings and Baitfish. SHOULD ALWAYS BE USED IF YOUR Bandits and Husky program takes a dump.
I totally disagree! We catch thousands upon thousands of walleye using Rapala Scatter Raps that run untrue and from side to side. In fact when we run Original Rapalas in front of our deep-divers to catch the weeds, those have the tendency to run upside down and yet we catch boat loads of walleye on the upside down Originals as well. th-cam.com/video/Nt6Eg1MwcCg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tnr1MdxsA3_hv6qC
@@MikeBorovicITsFRIDAYFITCHES It may work for that particular crankbait but tuning a crankbait to run straight with the normal wiggle is always required for any other bait and I own 4500 of them. I am much older than you and have caught way more walleyes in North America and on the PWT , MWC and the Michigan Walleye Tour of which I founded. A #9 Lindy Shadling/Baitfish on a 3 way with a trailing #5 custom airbrushed Shadling has won me a bunch of dollars. It is a killer rig on Lake Erie too but the 99% walleye guys have no idea what a Lindy #9 Baitfish or Shadling is as they live and die on Bandits.
That would also be awesome with fresh fiddleheads and morels .
Forsure!!
May I ask why you leave the fillets covered in water over night?
It helps remove whatever blood is left, but the main reason is to firm up the meat. Here's a recent one with the cheeks. th-cam.com/video/e0UW3-IXPW0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qZ7gRdny3-cdIIiU
Any videos of it deploying and in water?
It deploys the same way as you would deploy a Minn Kota Terrova. There is a dedicated video on my channel and several videos of fishing.
I live in whitehorse yukon a 1lb propane tank is 18.00$ cad shipping is very expensive I just bought 2 fuel kegs and a fill station for 135$ cad should pay for itself after 8-10 refills
Wow! Good move David!👍
Awesome footage. Reactionary bites probably only come in schools of competing fish a competition bite.
Thank you Richard and good point!👊
Despite the uncontrollable imperfections, great footage Mike! Certainly forces us to rethink what we have always perceived.....
Thank you John!🙏
Thank you Pal! That footage forces me to rethink how I have always thought about how Walter sees my jig!
@@TeamJesusOutdoors I was shocked myself.
Thank you, Mike. Great video
Pretty soon the fish will be interviewed as to what are their favorite lures.
Very cool!! Thanks for sharing. It appears that at least one of the walleye actually got ahead of the jig to take a look at it!!!! Tight lines!!!🎣🐟😃
Agree! Thank you Jack. 👊
That is excellent footage for what you were working with, and EXTREMELY educational. I'm a noob on DR and vertical jigging in current and you just answered so many questions, with data not opinions. Thank you so much for sharing that. If it helps for future, maybe a vertical fin on the camera would use the current to keep it's orientation and prevent the spin when your jig hits bottom? Just a thought. Thanks again, very valuable instruction.
Thank you Sam! 😁👊
Have you ever been to the st. lawrence
I have not in the sense for walleye. However, I have been to Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade for Tommycod once.
thanks for taking the time posting ! always learn something here
I'm glad to hear it Darryl!! 👊 Thanks for watching.

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video Mike, it’s like looking down a spearing hole.lol I love it! As a spoonplugger I’ve learned what Buck Perry proved time n time again back in the old days., “Depth and Speed are the two most important controls and the answer to all our fishing successes and failures..” Hold it at the right depth and move it at the right speed and they will strike.. What’s interesting is the way weather and most importantly Light affects things from day to day.. The speed that works one day doesn’t always work the next day.. Fish definitely follow and you have proven it in this video! We’re constantly varying our speed on the troll (or cast) until we find the correct speed and then it’s on.. On a short line in the heat of summer you can see the pike n musky following..Neat stuff. Knowledge is the Key and thank you for sharing yours with us!👍🏻
Agree. And thanks for sharing that Phil and the kind words!👊
😢 "promosm"
What rod is the lady using? I like a shorter rear grip
Linda is a fan of the St Croix Legend Tournament Walleye Series, anything between 5'8" to 6'8" in length, medium power, extra-fast action. In this video she is using the older style series with split grip, 5'8". I've noticed the last couple of years she has been picking up the 6'8" rods.
Can you use your spot lock with this and not worry about it breaking the cable
The short answer... No. However, I do all the time when I am in deeper water where my Talon can not reach bottom. I just keep a close eye on it. If my TM wants to rotate beyond 360, I release the spotlock and then reset it.
Trying Walleye for the first time for dinner tonight! 🤞
You are in for a treat Sergio!!!👍
I feel like that’s a low % because I swear 60% of my fish or more are on the stinger. I use a #10 though and tie my own with a sleeve and a slip knot. When I’m using minnows, I like to run it between my plastic and my stinger to help longevity.
Loved it, so tasty!
Awesome video as always brother
Thanks brother!!👊😁
Thank you so very much for showing us what you use, sizes etc.
I dont see any way to turn that sideways to get perspective view
There are 2 brackets that come with the lvs34 package. You have the choice to use either one. I had chosen the one without the perspective view because I felt there would be additional drag for the style of fishing I do. I have no use for the perspective view at this time.
You have money to lose 😂
Gonna have a west wind on Friday so that will help clean up the U.S. side even more and might make a more defined mudline too
Anyone got a report for the bite out Monroe way? Looking to head there friday
Heading over Friday morning. We might not catch limits but enough for a sandwich or two. Thanks for the report 🎣🎣😃
Three man today at the Gordie Howe. Canadian side. Good stain. All males. Go getcha some!!!!!🐟🐟🐟🐟🎣🎣
Great report , I've been out 4 times , American side only , 1 fish total
Hey thanks for saying something about using that live webcam. I would check it out but not for wind directions and water clarity a little further down on the american side. Thank mike
Appreciate the update, dying to wet a line.
Great report! That means some of us will have fewer boat traffic while we're out catching them. I'm going jigging in Lake Erie on Friday and I can tell you the fish still bite in the muddy water. I've been fishing muddy Lake Erie since the 70s and fish have a lateral line for a reason. They still have to eat. What you're seeing is surface water or milky mud. That doesn't mean it's not more clear 10-15 feet down. For active feeders, you need some noise and bright colors like chartreuse. For the spawners, you just have to slow down and use bright colors on sunny days or black or purple on cloudy days. I have a buddy who also complains about the water quality and isn't confident fishing in it. I find it more challenging too but that's the fun of fishing. You just have to adjust because I can assure you that the fish do.
Thanks for report, Mike. Always useful
Will be there on a weekend, thank's for report
