      @@CynicalEmpath I've been to rehab. Some of the stories I've heard are insane. Addicts attract each other somehow. It's just this unsaid energy. Best way I heard it was from a guy hooked on coke and Roxies. Dude was like "I moved to another state and small town and I'll be damned if I don't meet the only dealer In town within the first few days being there". Not so crazy compared to other stories I've heard in regards to action, but it just proves a point that you WILL find your fix no matter where you go. You can move states or countries, but if you don't fix yourself, you will fall victim to the addiction again.

    I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic from a teen into my 20s. It just happens one day when all your friends are partying and you like that fun, it just becomes a habit one day and you don't even realize it. That's the thing with addiction, no matter how bad it gets you always think you can stop anytime. But it's always tomorrow. Been sober 15 years. Got a 4 year degree and good job now. But unfortunately ppl like us is the exception. Most people relapse all their lives or just give up or die.

  • @chosentonessournotes
    @chosentonessournotes ปีที่แล้ว +98

    She really is right though. I’ve moved several times to get away from heroin, but my problems followed me wherever I went. And we all have different bottoms… Hers was having her daughter. Mine was police intervention. I finally decided to stop running from who I was and decided to dig deep. I decided to invest in a run down property and flip it. And flip it I did. I’m coming up on 2 years clean, I have an amazing girl who pushes me to do better, my family is in my life again, and I have an amazing job with a Fortune 500 company making great money and respect. When you’ve been in a position like that and finally come out of it, you are motivated to work harder than you’ve ever worked. But most people forget that after using drugs for so long, your emotions and thoughts and feelings come rolling back in all at once. Getting clean isn’t just abstaining from drugs, it’s trying to grow up in a relatively short amount of time, while also trying to get back into the work force and making amends with those you love. You legitimately have to relearn to be a human being. Most people who aren’t addicts have the luxury of growing up when they’re supposed to an working through their own character defects… those of us who are addicts are stunted emotionally. I started using at 15. I’m 36 now, and even with nearly 2 years clean I still cry at the drop of a hat, I can get extremely frustrated and upset but I’m learning ways to control it. My anxiety is crippling most days. It’s all a consequence of the life I led. But if I can work my way from the bottom and end up running my own 3 man crew in a year and a half, anyone can.
    If you’re just getting clean, know this… I was a trash can. I ended up in the hospital numerous times, and not because I overdosed when I got a bad batch. It’s because I was using to such a degree and ignoring my health that I ended up with anemia to the point where my bone marrow stopped producing red blood cells. I had hypokalemia to the point where my heart was in atrial fibrillation. I damaged my gallbladder and pancreas to the point where I ended up in the hospital for a week. If I can get clean, ANYONE can. You have to want to quit, you have to be ready to truly invest in yourself. And I don’t just mean you want to live. I’m talking you start aggressively seeking hobbies. Start going to the gym and lifting every day. Start working on a better job or better education. KEEP YOURSELF BUSY. Set realistic goals and keep setting new ones. Yes, I got promoted and I have a 3 man crew, but I wanna be where my boss is; 3 luxury sports cars in his garage, is able to take like 4-5 2 week vacations all over the country with his wife and kids and grandkids, drives his motorcycle up and down the east coast… he’s got tons of responsibilities but also has fuck you money.

    I would love to have her go and speak to young girls in middle school and high school as a reminder to make good choices.
    I hope you have a terrific life you’ve earned it

    She’s knows exactly what’s going on here and understands the opportunity in front of her. Very sharp, knows how to play the game.

    She still has a lot of pain in her heart
    I too got clean to be there for my son, it was the hardest times of my life no doubt.
    Shes learned a lot from her mistakes, she would blossom with the right promotions and mentors. Good luck honey, stay clean! Life is better living!

    That is a good example of why people should be promoted in a company, because of your ability and not for who you are.

    How can you not love this girl. Screwed up her life for a while but takes 100% ownership of that mistake. Tried rehab. Tried moving. nothing seemed to help. THEN she got pregnant at 18 and instead of going deeper into the darkness she told herself this was the end of the line. It was time to grow up. She's a fantastic employee and even without seeing her daughter I'm pretty sure she's a fantastic Mom as well. I'd hire her any day!!!
