I think work/activity can keep you young. Tom Petty wrote, “if you never slow down you never get old.” Maybe it’s true? My husband is 73 and still works full time as an attorney and his band plays at least once every weekend, often twice, plus more during holiday seasons. He swims laps at least twice a week recently took a surfing trip around the world.

Had the day off day, River. I went to my favorite charity shop and bought a necklace to go with a new dress. Then I stopped at the library to pick up a couple of books. Came home and gave myself a pedicure, then did some gardening. Just finished your broadcast. I will read and tuck in for the night.

@@Lynda-vq5yl I can imagine they were. I visited London in 1973 and there were still areas that were not rebuilt. It really brought home to me the war stories I’d read and been told, much more than the history we were taught in school. We had a lot of immigrant children come into our school when I was 5 or 6. Our school was near one of the migrant hostels in Adelaide, so we had lots of European displaced persons telling us their stories. Quite chilling when one reflects back. I pray that it will never happen again.

I thought Camilla looked lovely on the photo taken by Catherine, who is a very good photographer. It is pretty, seeing Camilla at her best and so natural. I'm so happy King Charles has a good match with Camilla, they enjoy the same pursuits, gardening and walking, the Countryside is special to yhem. I wonder if our King still paints in Watercolour as he used to, he's very good. Hopefully his Summer break he will enjoy the time for themselves and the Family. I'm in awe of our King, he's undergoing cancer treatment yet he attends as much as his Dr's allow!

Good morning, River. I love that people feel overwhelmed with awe and emotion when they meet their Monarch. However, I wish they would not paw at the King and show such a lack of disrespect, forcing a hug, as if he is plain old Uncle Jim down at the pub.

Sadly, she passed away on Mother’s Day (US) this year, so I’ve been going through her home cleaning it out, and while I haven’t come across any bathing caps yet, I’m expecting to find one or two in the back of a drawer at some point. 😊
Oh no those caps were such a flamboyant touch, a bygone era. Fashion for women is far too sexless, androgynous nowadays. I rebel by wearing sweeping skirts and dangling earrings.
Even worse, we had to wear them as children, not the flowered ones thankfully!
for those of us having to wear them in school it was AWFUL

It makes me grin that some Americans protest at our Royal Family……..have you noticed how keen presidents are to involve members of their families. The names differ but the aims remain the same. One powerful family at the very head of it all.

We’ve gotten to the point where we’ve been trying to make people have to follow “healthy lifestyle guidelines”! Sadly , we should have protections for those that do want to continue their vices aside from others. People must want to stop vices not be governed into it !

@vickihandel3620 except that people's vices cost everyone else. Alcohol and drug abuse affect not just the user, but others around them. Smoking costs the health system a great deal and that money could be spent on illnesses that are not self-inflicted. These three substances are addictive so people need to be encouraged and supported to reduce use or quit.

England must be such a place of beauty to inspire so many writers to compose such beautiful verses. As you read that last poem, River, I was reminded of "The Wind in the Willows." She is a star and William and Catherine need the time to nurture, protect and prepare their children for their futures. William and Catherine don't need to be in the top job now. I always enjoy seeing your Tip Jar Corner! Loved your brooches!! I worked in Hospice for many years. I couldn't wear necklaces because my confused patients would pull on them. But, I discovered that I could wear a brooch!! The patients would lightly touch them, and talk to them. It gave me time to do what I needed to do while they were distracted. I still wear my lovely brooches even if I'm only wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Thanks for reading the poems as well and allowing me a walk down Memory Lane. You're the BEST!!!❤❤

Seeing the music for Annie get your gun reminded me of the first musical comedy I ever saw aged almost 5 years old. When we got home I sang the entire repertoire through and it must have been funny seeing this little girl singing "The girl that I marry will have to be as pink and as white as a nursery." I had inherited my father's photographic memory, sadly when I suffered a blow to my head aged 40 I lost my short term memory.
