    Bought a pair of these in 2015 along with a Yamaha RX-V479 AVR, Minx MIN 22 for centre speaker, have since added recently the Minx X201 subwoofer to replace my old S80 sub, great combination, planning on adding Minx MIN 12’s for surrounds.

    Thank you for the warnings. I am watching this at 1 in the morning and everyone is asleep (besides me).Anyway, great video! Nice to see someone from the UK (I'm from the UK).
    Most stereo reviewers are from Brazil and I don't understand Brazilian Portuguese.

    Is the wood box particle board or ply wood? Are the speakers papers? For a living room / kitchen open area ( roughly 12ft wide and 24 ft long ) would you recommend the sx60 or 50s?

    I have the SX60s and they are pretty decent but am looking for just a tad more clarity but the same amount of bass. I was looking at the Dali Spektor 2s but I heard they are a bit light on the bass and so I am leaning towards the Mission family. What do you think?

      @@philjagdon6774 Hi,
      I have pretty much finished the job with a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze 200 floorstanders. I bought them ex display for a good price and they are very accommodating speakers. A good balanced sound and reasonably sensitive at 88db so amp matching was not too hard. I am currently using a Wiim Pro streamer to an Topping E50 dac to Ampapa A1 pre amp to Aiyima JYCO D325X Class D ti3255 chip amp. Sounds great! I added Mullard ef95 valves to the Amapapa A1 and the sound is far from thin and boring to say the least. Thanks for asking, very happy with my system now.

    I'm the proud owner of these speakers. I'm planning to buy a center channel for these, but I have no idea what would closely match it. Any ideas? I have no idea if it's the Aero 5 or the S50.

    I just read the User Guide of these speakers because I may be buying it half a year later. and I'm shocked. Cambridge Audio just revised their HP, User Guide and Spec Sheet that the sensitive of SX-50 is actually 87db instead of previously listed 90db, but shops like Richsound and Crutchfield still listed it as 90db...

      I'll get one as they are absolutely amazing for the price. Your reviews are amazing too. There's only one problem: the sound test doesn't show that much clarity. I used my hd 280 pro headphones, but can't really get a clear sound.

      Euan Loveday , passive speakers. I had these a few years ago in a 7.1 system, I had the sx60 front left and right and the sx50’s as four surrounds. Great punchy speaker.

    If they were bass heavy, it’s because they were so close to the back wall, put the plugs in.

    I will get mine on Wednesday, but I've found the woofer isn't 5,25 but 4,5 inch

    • @davidzachary7152
      @davidzachary7152 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** i58.tinypic.com/13zmrmu.jpg Here I took a pic of the instruction and it says the frequency is from 55hz, not 50 and the woofers are 4,5 inch and not 10cm as they claim but 11,4. Someone must be drunk in their company. Anyway I like them, they sound clean and have the punch that lacked in the Tannoys. I will test them for a few days and then decide if give it back or not. PS. Next time you make a review, don't trust what the producer says in his specs table ...;)

      They said the specs on the webside are proper and they will correct the instruction. The woofers really are like 4.5 inch, but in front, 5.25 is the size with suspension

  • @Yanto-Bardic
    @Yanto-Bardic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When actually playing music through the speakers - you need to put personal taste aside and and give 30 to 60 seconds of different genre's. The music choice in this review was rather limited and simply doesn't do these fine speakers justice. May taste is very eclectic and these speakers handle a very wide range of genre's extremely well, from Classical, Prog Rock, Folk and Acoustic based music (Neil Young, John Martyn, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne) and Motown & Funk ( Fusion Jazz: Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius etc). It will give any listener's the chance to get a better idea of their span and depth.

    I v'e had these for over 4 years. The shop fucked up and I got a silly deal on them. These speakers are really nice. Mine were on wall mounted stands. I found most of the bass went behind the speakers. The rest of the house sounded like there was a subwoofer there but the room I'm in lacks Bass. No doubt a structure thing but this is just my minimally educated opinion and I hope to learn more about this shit. I've moved house lately and I can't fix stands on the wall here.(very old house...like 380 years old...One drill hole and the whole fkin building will collapse. Don't get me started on the bandwidth... Anyway, these speakers are now on my PC desk and I bought some little stick on Isolation feet. I'll report back but i've no idea where private messages go.

    The speakers can only sound the best when powered with a proper Amplifier that can push more than the 100w rated they are. The Amplifier should always be rated slightly higher per channel than the speakers.
