I cringed when I saw the bees being crushed by the super in the beginning of the video. Is that normal? This is the first extraction video I have seen where someone did that.

Hi - we can't identify what you are referring too specifically. Crushing bees is something most would want to avoid. Despite the best efforts of any beekeeper crushing is a reality. This video demonstrates the reality of how this process is executed.

Why are you going for frames that are not capped?

In any commercial operation some of the frames brought in are not necessarily capped. Once all the honey is mixed together is averages out to the correct moisture content.

And if I do so will it affect the colony?

No, the honey below the queen excluder should never normally be extracted for consumption or sale.

why are so many frames being extracted only half full?

If the bees half fill the frame or fully fill the frame, all honey from the supers above the excluder is extracted at the end of the honey flow.
