I've started playing Spiderman PS4 again, was playing Tales of Arise and Bravely Default but those take so much time and I'm on the final stretch of my dissertation.
Played through Tunic when it came out and it's my game of the year right now. Best to go in blind if you can. It was magical. I do think the "good ending" could be a little too puzzley for some people, but it hit just right for me.
Honestly I feel the same as Robman when it comes to Tunic. It is a really charming love letter to the old school ideas of Zelda. Great video guys! My Sunday is now complete!

I’ve been playing Radiata Stories. With the announcement of Star Ocean: The Divine Force and Valkyrie Elysium it’s thrown me in the mood to marathon a bunch of Tri-Ace games.
Radiata Stories is one of my favourite JRPGs! It's such a chill experience, it has so much charm and character (and is full of characters to recruit 😁).
Great to see that Taito arcade system, that's awesome! I've been reminiscing over and replaying some old Capcom arcade classics recently with the Capcom Arcade Stadium set on Steam (not sure if it's also on consoles). Commando, Ghosts N Goblins, Ghouls N Ghosts, Captain Commando, Final Fight, 1943, Bionic Commando, Strider and so many other classic Capcom arcades in a single set. It's so good to revisit these timeless classics!

Great Symphony of the Night vibes, an interesting enough storyline and a nice challenge overall! Too bad that game is too short, I certainly wanted more of it. I've been playing Elden Ring ever since it came out, and am just finishing my second playthrough now. Will definitely check Tunic out afterwards!
Been playing through the Trails series. Just finished Trails in the Sky the 3rd and now starting Cold Steel. Gonna take a break when I finish Cold Steel 2 and wait to play the Crossbell arc when they get that English localisation soon, might play either Ys or Yakuza while I wait for them to come out.
Hell yeah, Trails is amazing. They're slow to grow on you but once they do you can't stop. Since last year I've played the Sky trilogy and the first 3 Cold Steel games. Currently on the 4th and waiting for Crossbell's localisation (I watched summaries of them before CS3 just to be caught up but still excited to actually play em)

Today I learned Truxton was released for the arcades originally. Had no idea back then, I've played this game SO much back in my Mega Drive days, it has a special place in my heart to this day.
Elevator Action Returns is on the Saturn only released in Japan but like most of the Saturn titles it is extremely expensive. It was also on the Taito Collection on the PS2. Elevator Action Returns and Ray Force alone are worth getting the Taito Egret for.
I'm playing Chrono Cross on switch OLED, handheld mode. I notice the frame issues every now and then, but still having a blast with the game. Makes me feel so nostalgic hearing the music, and seeing the art style. I was glad to pay 20 bucks for it. I think these type of games really shine on the switch, especially handheld mode. Awesome video, looking forward to watching more! :)
I’m currently on vacation and have been away from games for a week or so, but I was playing Elden Ring obsessively before I left, and will continue to do so when I get home. Loved this video. I’ve been interested in both the Taito Egret II and Tunic, and you guys have pushed me to indulge in both.

I’m interested in Tunic after watching this as I’m old school as well and grew up in the 80’s. At the minute I’m playing an older 360 game on Series X via BC Grid 2 a great racing game with a great career mode. Just started playing Resident Evil Village and enjoying it so far as I’ve played every RE game and a fan.

Took a break from Elden Ring to play Triangle Strategy and I'm having so much fun. The beginning was a little slow, but when it picks up it's great. Fights are good, I like originality of the classes so far. It brings me back to Final Fantasy Tactics days and I love it.
Watching your videos is now a Sunday tradition for me! I’m playing: Valkyria Chronicles 4 (it’s just ok), scarlet nexus (2nd run through, this time with my kids), Aaero (rhythm based shooter), and Halo infinite campaign (really enjoying!). Next up is Chrono Cross I’m a few weeks.
Been playing Super Cyborg on the switch and having a blast. Got the game downloaded for about 3 bucks and it has been so much fun. One of the better old school platformers I've played in a while. Great music, great graphics and a great challenge. Def. a tribute to the Contra series. I'd highly recommend getting it while it's dirt cheap!
The setup and style of Johnny's review delivery made the Egret portion feel like those Seen-on-TV product presentation. Not a knock, it actually gave me a weird nostalgia of watching those TV segments with them trying to sell me cooking appliances. Just missing the "With just three easy payments, you can have your own Egret!"
I've been playing some AtomisWave ports for the Sega Dreamcast which I bought from a Dreamcast Facebook group. These games include Dolphin Blue and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. This Easter long weekend I will be playing the new Lego StarWars game with university friends.
You know, your Chrono Cross review was the first one I saw last week, and it was kinda strange to me when other people mention the frame rate issues, throwing down arguments about what a lame remastered this one is. I want to thank Rob for recommending Infernax in one of the past episodes. I'm playing it right now and I'm having a blast. Such a great throwback to Castlevania Simon's Quest, but more brutal and metal! 🤘 I'm going to try Tunic right after I finish Infernax, cause I think Rob and I have similar tastes. Anyway, keep those duo episodes coming, it's cool to see you discussing games you play and shit.
I just finished my playthrough of Horizon Forbidden West. 88 hours of play time and 98% completed just because I beat it and didn't care to go and farm out the scanning of machines and a few parts to craft the last legendary armour. Have a few missing data logs as well but even using online guides couldn't find them and found multiple posts of people saying no one had found them yet but what an experience. Have some problems with the story but still enjoyed my time with it. Ready to move on though. Debating what to play next between Omori, Chicory and Death's Door.
I've recently gotten back into Final Fantasy XIV, but I also just finished The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, so now I'll have a break over easter before continuing on the Legend of Heroes saga =)
Still venturing through Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Plus found 50+ Waddle Dee's. I believe I unlocked the Colosseum. With Kingdom Hearts 4 announced. I might go back and replay 3, and may buy Remind. I did finish the main game, but never dived into ReMind. Ending still bugs me though. But seeing where it leads. Plus still tackling Destiny 2 - The Witch Queen campaign
I picked up Chrono Cross too and it’s been great. These older games don’t need to be upgraded too much because it changes the experience of what it was like to play it back in the day, including the frame rate. I like that. I got rid of my PS1 years ago and I was so excited to play it again.
I just beat Metroid Dread for the second time, which is something I rarely do in games nowadays. A few days ago I picked up Triangle Strategy and loving it so far. I haven't decided what I'll be playing next, but I'm really looking forward to Star Trek Resurgence.

Great video as always! I've been playing Mass Effect 2 and Soul Hackers, both great games. After I've finished those, I have to get back to Streets of Rage 4 and play it all the way through. Same with Judgment and Ys VIII. A large backlog can be a negative thing but with these games, I'm really excited.
A new Happy Console Gamer episode? On my birthday?! Oh fuck yeah. That aside, been playing Elden Ring, and it is one of, if not, the best open world RPG I have played in years. Of course, the combat is really fun, and the game is challenging. But oh my gosh, the open world gameplay is second to none. The absolute freedom of being able to go anywhere without the game holding my hand is incredible. The game gives a somewhat vague direction on where to go, but you can just go off and explore. It is just such a wonderful game, and the world itself is so beautiful. Absolutely love this game.

I've been playing a few games lately. I've been playing Sly Cooper 3, Resident evil revelations, bloodborne, man of medan, and ghost recon breakpoint. Tunic looks like such a beautiful old school game that I really want to play. I really like hearing Johnny and Rob talking about what games their playing especially ones that I have never heard of before like Tunic.
Just finished up Hyrule Warriors(switch). Got a NES mini knockoff so been playing all the classics on there(Gyruss, Turtles, Contra, DD...). Also trying to play through Darksiders Genesis(PS4) and Megaman X(switch). So a bit of ADD right now! lol
Rastan is a brilliant game. I'm too young to have played it in the arcade, but it was the game I enjoyed the most when I got the Taito collection for PS2 back in the day. Shame Nastar Warrior wasn't as good.
I am with Rob, Tunic is great. Also I have started Chrono Cross. It is fun and it makes me wish Square Enix does the FF Pixel remaster on Switch. Hopefully with a physical version.

Nice to hear the Taito Egret turned out well for you. When it comes to old Taito collections, I like to recommend Fairyland Story. I played it on the Taito Legends 2 collection and it was more fun than I expected. You can see how it is a close predecessor to Bubble Bobble. Definitely worth a look for those who like that type of game. Rastan is very good. I did play it in the arcade once when I was very young. I loved it on the Master System and still do. And they're different enough to both be fun. I have only played Elevator Action Returns a little bit and should give that one more time. I've been most recently playing the Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star arcade fighting game along with a little bit of Legacy of the Wizard on NES. Before that, I was playing a good bit of Virtual On 1 & 2.

Thanks to your recommendation I’ve been playing Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, which I’m enjoying. I also went back to Far Cry 5 and very close to completing it.
Taito's Superman is not in the collection, that's unfortunate. That game has never been ported to anything. The only two ways on this planet to play Taito's Superman is buying the actual arcade cabinet, or playing it emulated on MAME. I guess licensing issues would have been too much to deal with and Taito just said 'f_ it' and left it behind. The closest game we ever had to Taito's Superman was Sunman on NES (which may have actually been planned originally to be a port of Taito's Superman, but licensing issues forced the devs to change everything from names to colour palettes).
Right now, I’m going through Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, Octopath Traveler, and FF7. I also got a new gaming PC, so I’m going to be running Doom tonight. I’m really enjoying myself right now playing these games.

I'm one boss away from finishing Elden Ring. 150 plus hours, and I've loved every minute of it. I almost don't want it to end.

Im playing Earthbound and the Batman Arkham Games. Just got through Master Belch at Grapefruit falls at 3 am yesterday and im at Arkham City in the Batman games.

I've been playing Mass Effect 2 and Soul Hackers, both great games. After I've finished those, I have to get back to Streets of Rage 4 and play it all the way through. Same with Judgment and Ys VIII. A large backlog can be a negative thing but with these games, I'm really excited.

That aside, been playing Elden Ring, and it is one of, if not, the best open world RPG I have played in years. Of course, the combat is really fun, and the game is challenging. But oh my gosh, the open world gameplay is second to none. The absolute freedom of being able to go anywhere without the game holding my hand is incredible. The game gives a somewhat vague direction on where to go, but you can just go off and explore. It is just such a wonderful game, and the world itself is so beautiful. Absolutely love this game.

I've been playing a few games lately.
I've been playing Sly Cooper 3, Resident evil revelations, bloodborne, man of medan, and ghost recon breakpoint. Tunic looks like such a beautiful old school game that I really want to play. I really like hearing Johnny and Rob talking about what games their playing especially ones that I have never heard of before like Tunic.

Just finished up Hyrule Warriors(switch). Got a NES mini knockoff so been playing all the classics on there(Gyruss, Turtles, Contra, DD...). Also trying to play through Darksiders Genesis(PS4) and Megaman X(switch). So a bit of ADD right now! lol
Rastan is a brilliant game. I'm too young to have played it in the arcade, but it was the game I enjoyed the most when I got the Taito collection for PS2 back in the day. Shame Nastar Warrior wasn't as good.

I am with Rob, Tunic is great. Also I have started Chrono Cross. It is fun and it makes me wish Square Enix does the FF Pixel remaster on Switch. Hopefully with a physical version.

I literally shit my pants when I seen that Empire City 1931 was available on the Nintendo Switch eShop, I haven't seen or played that game in almost 30 yrs, it's a game I remember playing with everyone I knew at the time, many not alive today, took me back to a good place, I was very young

Elevator Action Returns is awesome, remember playing it a lot on the Taito Legends compilation.

Undying moon on switch remake of getsufumaden from the famicom. Graphics are gorgeous really love the japanese ukioe ascetic.
Nice to hear the Taito Egret turned out well for you. When it comes to old Taito collections, I like to recommend Fairyland Story. I played it on the Taito Legends 2 collection and it was more fun than I expected. You can see how it is a close predecessor to Bubble Bobble. Definitely worth a look for those who like that type of game. Rastan is very good. I did play it in the arcade once when I was very young. I loved it on the Master System and still do. And they're different enough to both be fun. I have only played Elevator Action Returns a little bit and should give that one more time. I've been most recently playing the Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star arcade fighting game along with a little bit of Legacy of the Wizard on NES. Before that, I was playing a good bit of Virtual On 1 & 2.
Nice to see you Rob. Tunic indeed looks amazing. Gonna pick it up! For me, I just finished playing through Final Fantasy IX for the very first time, and I can see why it was very special. It's a fantastic game all around and the rumors of the remake have certainly peaked my interest.

Tunic is finally getting a physical release
On top of Elden Ring and Kirby, I’ve been having a lot of fun going back to Tetris Effect to get my rank up on a bunch of modes.
Taito's Superman is not in the collection, that's unfortunate. That game has never been ported to anything. The only two ways on this planet to play Taito's Superman is buying the actual arcade cabinet, or playing it emulated on MAME. I guess licensing issues would have been too much to deal with and Taito just said 'f_ it' and left it behind. The closest game we ever had to Taito's Superman was Sunman on NES (which may have actually been planned originally to be a port of Taito's Superman, but licensing issues forced the devs to change everything from names to colour palettes).
Right now, I’m going through Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, Octopath Traveler, and FF7. I also got a new gaming PC, so I’m going to be running Doom tonight. I’m really enjoying myself right now playing these games.
