- Johnny and Rob Man talk indepth about Resident Evil VIII, Resident Evil Village is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. The sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017), players control Ethan Winters, who is searching for his kidnapped daughter; after a fateful encounter with Chris Redfield, he finds himself in a village filled with mutant creatures. While Village maintains the Resident Evil series' survival horror elements, the game adopts a more action-oriented gameplay style compared to its predecessor.

I agree wholeheartedly with Rob Man. Unlike him I really enjoyed RE4 when it came out; over time it definitely lost its luster, but after playing Resident Evil 8, I definitely appreciate for like I did the day it came out.

Yeah I for one believe that you should play any difficulty that you have the most fun with.. That being said, right before the game released I heard that standard was much too easy for more weathered survival horror fans.. So I broke tradition and started the game on hardcore.
The werewolf raid in the beginning sucked so much ass. I didn’t know it was a timed thing where I had to survive for 5 minutes, at first I was shooting to kill every enemy.. but with 10-15 pistol shots needed to take down ONE werewolf coupled with the fact that I only had 25 bullets and a few shotgun shells to fend off 8 of them.. yeah it was rough. But once I found a path to avoid them the longest possible time I was able to beat it. So the beginning of the game is widely regarded by those who played on Hardcore to be the hardest part of the game 😂
After that it was the most enjoyable, balanced difficulty level I’ve played in a game. I always had juuust enough ammo to scrape by, just like the older Resident Evil games. Playing it on an easier difficulty where you’re loaded up on ammo at all times takes away a lot of the tension in combat which kills a lot of the fun for me..

I've never played any of the Resident Evil games, I just like watching these two geek out about games they love.
I haven’t played any resident evil games and haven’t a clue what there on about but Rob man and Johnny are the best love watching them
I'll be honest with you, I played through Village the first time on Easy just so I knew how the story ended. Mostly due to the marketing on the first trailer saying "His story is coming to an end I legit thought that this was the story that Chris was going to die in. However, on normal difficulty, it was a complete and utter blast I loved it. Also, doing what Rob is doing as in getting all the main weapons fully upgraded to unlimited ammo just to run through Village of Shadows and blow everything up!

I played Resident Evil Remake 16 hours straight when I first got the game. Beat it with Jill and then half way through with Chris in one sitting.

The only thing I'm going to say is that I'm extremely happy that these kind of games are still being made by big companies like Capcom. Single-player, no micro-transactions. I really loved my time with RE8.
Put like that, the sting of how "focus tested" Village and RE3R seemed is pretty drastically cut down. The games could certainly be much worse, I guess.
I can’t stop playing this game. Just can’t stop. I also REALLY dig mercenaries mode in this game.
I may not be a hardcore fan of RE. But a chat with Rob, always fun.
What bugs me, is the amount of dlc keeps being kept away from players. Better yet make everything unlockable by playing the game. whether it's difficulty, or something hidden.
When RE2R&3 + 7 were released, that frustrated me. I like exploring and unlocking as I play. Tired of Dlc being used as a crutch.
I don't mind spoilers. But it leaves a lot open, hopefully they resolve this new trilogy, and keep us on our toes.

I love the enthusiasm from Rob's "Fuck your house"! Around 30:10. I kept dying from laughter just imaging him breaking and being a habitual line stepper with everything in the game. 🤣

RE8 is a strong 6/10 as a RE game but compared to everything else it's pretty good

Sorry as a hardcore RE fan where RE8 is a good polished game but its not a good RE game. RE 8 baby moment was really scary but there is some problems in this game especially the store and lore relating to the umbrella corporation. EFAP did a good long podcast why is there problems with this game.

Completely agreed. I concede that it's a great game in terms of tech and action, but it's got no soul like the older games, or even RE2R had. Village reeks of "focus testing."

Guys, come on! I’m not a tough-ass-gamer at all, but normal difficulty of Village is WAY TOO EASY! Even the hardcore mode is easy on so many levels. I can’t imagine what’s is going on on easy mode

Wait, you Both played it on Easy and you still think it's better than 7!? I played through once on Normal and it was waaaaaay toooo eaaaasy and kinda boring at times. Playing on Hard is definitely the best difficulty for a first playthrough. Their is near enough zero tension on Normal.
Want to clarify that I really don't mean to shame you. But their is definitely something lost on lower difficulty settings. I respect that they're their for people who have a hard time with the game but Normal is called 'Standard' which suggests it's how the game is 'meant to be played'. And going with that way of thinking the game is simply too easy on Normal.

I want the 3rd person back also, Actually I really want the fixed backgrounds and camera angle changes but... The formula seems to bee every 3 games is a different camera. 1st three games was painted backgrounds with changing cameras. 2nd three games was 3rd person. We need one more game to complete the 1st person perspective. Then 10 can go in a NEW direction who knows what that will be. Hopefully 3rd person again. or maybe a mix of ALL THREE PERSPECTIVES for 10, 11 & 12?

Aaaah I love these game chats! Good to see you doing well Rob. If I had to pitch in my two cents, it would be with difficulty. For me, the difficulty will depend entirely on the story. For REVIII I would probably play at the hardest difficulty, because that's what it feels like it has to be.
For example, in AVP, playing as the predator in the hardest difficulty sucks, since it doesn't feel immersive or thematic. Why is the predator having such a hard time with regular joes? On the other hand, the marine is at nightmare difficulty for sure. Dead space? Hardest difficulty. Dragon Age Inquisition? Hardest. Mass Effect? Hardest. For me, the difficulty depends on the story itself and whether it's lore friendly for the protagonist to have an easier time haha.
Personally I'm not a fan of 8. Think I died twice the whole game on normal. Not once was I even scared and lot of times I found myself bored and stopped playing. RE8 made me appreciate RE7 even more.

No one should ever be shamed on how they choose to play. As for me, I found RE8 to be quite on the easy side. Therefore, it seemed much less scary than RE7. Normal mode felt like an easy mode from other RE games.
Still a great game either way, got my CE day 1. I loved it! Beat it on normal first, then on hard with unlimited ammo👍
I don't feel like i need another version of RE4. I have the GC, PS2, Wii and the HD version on steam. That cow has been milked.
I absolutely love Resident Evil VILLAGE, but I do have one glaring question.
If Ethan was already dead in 7 and 8... Then how the hell did I keep dying in the game? Huh Capcom? Answer me that.
The western writers used for RE7, RE3R, and RE8 are hacks, in my opinion. That's not the answer Capcom would give, but that IS the reason. Same reason Chris is needlessly a bit of a jerk in the DLC for RE7 and in RE8.

It keeps coming up in Capcom's surveys, so I'd keep an eye out for something Dino Crisis related being announced soon. In the meantime, I've been following this indie game which looks to be heavily inspired by DC: Compound Fracture. It's on Steam.
