I've heard people say transmissions are complicated. I had no idea how true that was. Soooo many parts. Very interesting to watch.

I have built several 80s with a d3, it’s the best on the market, also built them with other. Brand ones, the were too slow, the d3 had fixed line pressure that works great

I have a 95 4l80. Attached to valve body is a plate under the dipstick hole. I’d guess it limits how deep the dipstick goes. Any idea or input on that plate

Yes that was a normal piece for quite some time keep it in there as well as chevk your dipstick lenght before final install.

Question: I'm rebuilding my 4l80e and had to replace the reverse drum. Now mine is a 95 model, yet I got a 99 model replacement drum from the part store. Will it still work, or do I need to get the correct one?

I tried to rebuild my 4L80, watching all the you tube rebuilders. but my trans won’t shift. It stays in in the drive gear, I have been searching the web. On how to check components, with poor results. Would you have a link, which might help me?

First. A 4l80 has to have power on the e pin on the main harness connecteor check for that and check for codes.

I have a 2002 2500 HD Chevy Silverado 6.0 gas with the 4L60E in it and the transmission seems to have been messed with before I bought it. It acts as if the Tow/Haul Switch is on. When I accelerate it won’t go into second gear until I reach 20mph and for third it won’t go in until 40mph no matter how slow or fast you go. And when it changes gears it makes your head go back. And the more the you are on the throttle the harder it hits when it changes gears. I have been in vehicles that have had shift kits before but this is on a different level. The truck have 12” if suspension lift and a three inch body lift and the tires are 38”.
I have heard transmission guys say that the 4L60E has the ability to create enough line pressure from the pump the break not only the case but internal parts and I’m afoot the driveshaft twisting or the reared blowing apart. Is there anything that I could do to calm it down and make it safer to drive ??
Thanks and I hope that you get this.

First and for most I'd be getting a line pressure gauge on it. Also need to know if the vehicle is tuned. If so that needs to be addressed. Otherwise we need to see why it has high line pressure to go forward.

i bought a 99 silverado 2500 4x4 last summer it shifted perfect but when november came around it hesitated to shift in 4th gear until it warms up i took it to a shop they said they had to drop the pan and they said they found metal shaving in it but 3 days after i got the truck i drained the fluid and there was no metal shaving in the fluid they charged me 406.00 to put a filter in it and of course they wanted 6800.00 dollers for a tranny and install if i let the truck warm up to a certain spot on the motor temp guage it shifts perfect i dont get it lol

Whats the torque on that "heavy duty transgo" bolt? Broke a f***** allen wrench. AN ALLEN WRENCH. lol

If you had very little money and bought a tranny from a junk yard before putting it in what would you do to it??
    Do you have any suggestions?
Perhaps this could be a good video. I'm going right now to pick one up.
