Nothing tops them sending Ludacris and Tyrese in to space in a pontiac fiero with rocket engines and wearing world war 1 era scuba gear, and they survive space walking with those suits too.

Believe it or not, the first movie is honestly pretty good. It's like a throwback to movies from the 70s, just done with the modern cars and looks of the time.
... it is nothing at all like the franchise it spawned, really. I'd recommend it to fans of action / car movies.. where I'd recommend the rest to fans of hilarious shlock

As someone who watched the first F&F in theater and is a car enthusiast, this will always be one of my favorite movie. Bought a 2000 Civic Si and it was game over. Speeding tickets left and right, court cases, etc. Those were the days.
The really scary thing is that the newer F&F movies make this one look realistic and believable by comparison!
