- With the release of PlayStation's overhauled PS Plus program, I'm impressed by some of their classic collection offerings. That said, their slow rollout has me not wanting to wait and itching to take advantage of some good prices as they begin to decrease thanks to the service.

PSP is my all-time favorite system. Was in line at Electronics Boutique on release date 2005. Been Collecting for it ever since. Game collection is at 580 and I have about 690 movies. 8 PSPs. One that is fully modded. Something about the PSP that always fascinated me. I own all major handheld releases going back to the Atari lynx and Game Boy days and I have mad love for all of them but I always come back to the PSP. I play it almost everyday and still watch movies on it. I'll probably die with a PSP in my hand

I was working at EB when the PsP launched and got the #2 OG 1000 on launch. I've kept it alive all this time by replacing broken parts by picking up bulk dead ones on Ebay for parts scrubbing.
My biggest memories were of SOCOM, Monster Hunter, and having a big docking case that had two speakers so I could watch all my UMD movies like Kung Fu Hustle haha.
Still rrunning strong to this day with an upgraded LCD screen. Most under rated handheld ever. Just now heard of the PS1 official emulator - might have a looksee.

Where there that many translations? I'm aware of 2 digimon games. Hack link and recently persona 2 EP. I really would like full translations of the tales of games like rebirth

@@ogroto I knew about one of the yakuza spin offs, are you sure the other one was translated as well? Thanks for the list, seems like most of these are available on other platforms with a official translation though and I'm pretty sure God eater is already in English on the PSP
I love my PSP. I have 175 physical PSP games in my collection. I started collecting for it 10 years ago for that handheld.

while the majority of my games are run from Iso files - my UMD movie collection is allmost to 150. I can't seem to find them anymore or they are in such bad shape the drive just whizzes.
That's quite a collection. I've 20 or so 😄, but the 20 I've are really good games.
Bought my psp 15 years ago and it still works and is still awesome!
I think the PSP is probably the most underrated video game console. So many great games.
The vita is more underrated.
At least the psp got much more famous ips like kingdom hearts, gta, soul calibur, def jam & mega man unlike the vita.
the gameboy advance was the queen of laptops until the psp arrived which took over being the fourth best laptop

Nothing takes me back like playing PSP multiplayer on a bus during a field trip or the bus ride home. Crazy kids today won't be able to experience that.
Final Fantasy IV is my favorite game of all time. It was “Final Fantasy 2”’on the SNES, and it was the first time a video game gave me a strong emotional reaction. I was hooked. One of the best casts in the whole Final Fantasy saga, and a soundtrack for the ages. I do hope you enjoy it! It’s an oldie but a goodie.
Crisis Core was the best on PSP
Psp has always been my favorite console to collect for. A large collection of quality games and the prices haven't ballooned the way other older consoles have

I hope that this video means we'll get a first time playing FF IV since you now have the definitive edition. Such a classic. On a similar but separate note, I'd love to see Square do new HD2D remakes of the older Final Fantasy games

im glad your collecting for the psp. As a kid I've never had one, but my cusion and friend did. They let me play it a few times and when I did I always had a blast. Ive been collecting for the PSP about now 2-3 years as well as buying broken ones and reselling them to purchase more psp games currently have 130 titles and many many varients consoles.
I got a 3000 earlier this year and God I love it so much. It’s sleek, compact, the games are cool, and the XMB menu style is by far the best of any console
Those "Marcus PSP" commercials were a hit. Everyone at my school talked about them when a new one aired on TV lol

Like you, I've been trying to get PSP games via the PS Vita and the most recent I got was Persona 3 Portable. yes, I know, it's going to get an HD port next year but I don't give a crap. I'm double dipping cause why the hell not. As someone who owns a PSP, I treasure it. Too bad the system died due to the high amount of piracy and don't get me started on the Vita. Sony sabotaged it but I will treasure it.
Me & My Katamari was a fun series entry on PSP. Not the hardest of the series but still highly enjoyable! Also not terribly expensive.

Bro! You unlocked a core memory of a bunch of games that I forgot I even had at one point lol. If I remember correctly at the time trading in games among my age group was a big deal, so I probably traded in a bunch of these to get some dumb new game that came out that probably wasn’t even half as good as these games were.
I literally just went and got a PSP and a bunch of games at my local used game store last week and have been having a great time with it. Such a dope handheld.

the psp has become one of my favourite systems to play and collect for, especially imports, imports like gundam senjou no kizuna, macross ace frontier and project diva extend have been some of my favourites

its been a minute since ive bought any psp games, but the last one i bought was the psp port of disgaea 1, loved the writing and the art. if you like strategy rpgs like FF tactics or tactics ogre, i would definitely check it out!

Always wanted to play Shin Budokai: Another Road, but never owned a PSP. I constantly get burned out by DBZ games just because of their need to only focus on the main story (Raditz to Buu) with little to no deviation. So when I heard they were changing it up a bit and doing the Buu Saga in Future Trunks' timeline and it was only going to be on PSP, I got a little bit sad ngl

I like my psp collection. The crux with psp is that it can just emulate psp games with the sd slot. So it depreciates the values of the games cause of that. I like the UMD discs tho. Very cute. Great coverage and vid.

I'd recommend Brave Story New Traveler as a game to pick up for the PSP too. It came out early in the PSP lineup so it doesn't even have a digital download equivalent. A very fun if somewhat basic JRPG isekai story based off the novel of the same name (and even has cameos of characters from the book). Plus it should still be within budget to pick up (I won't say how much because it might cause the price to upshoot anyway).

@@mookiestewart3776 There was, but it never localized. It even had an anime movie. But really, I suggest getting the Brave Story book by Miyuki Miyabe if you're interested. It's a hefty tome with a pretty serious story that juxtapositions the fantasy adventure in the second act.

Would love an episode on Tactics Ogre. One of the best tactics RPGs I've played.
PSP is the only console I double dipped for to get the digital versions of games. It's great being able to play Persona 1-3, FF Tactics, Lunar, etc on a big TV with a PS4 controller, using the PSTV.
PSP's one of the easiest systems ever to put on custom firmware and all you need is a memory stick duo to sd adapter from Amazon for $5 and you can load it up with a ton of great games.

That’s cool and PSP’s are definitely valuable if you know w whiz who can burn the chip and you can get Rom’s and Emu’s. But where are you gonna find one?
softmodding has come a long long way my friend. Just avoid VITA and stick with the 1-3k series and you can do all the things Sony never wanted you to do.

I know you probably need a beefy rig to emulate games but if possible just emulate your games. I love owning physical original copies ofc but experiencing these games at 1440p 60+fps is genuinely amazing.

I grew up watching my dad play diablo 1 and 2. When I got a PSP and my dad got me Untold Legends, it was basically just Diablo portable for me (even though in retrospect, the game is nowhere near as good as diablo lol). I loved it so much.
I fucking loved the psp I got mines In the Christmas of 2007. I still have it and the hands held still looks modern. I remember being blown away by the visuals and the fact you could play music and watch movies on the go was mind blowing back then. The psp is my favorite handheld of all time, all those games were designed to be played on the go but the experience was console-like. My most rare psp game is Persona 3 portable, I loved e Naruto games and DBZ games

If you can find it over there, grab Breath of Fire 3 on PSP physical. I don't think it got an actual release like that in the US, so it can be considered a rarity.

Megaman Maverick Hunter X was my favorite game on PSP, I got a Japanese copy last year and it’s peak, one of the best SNES/Super Famicom remakes

I didn't grow up with the PSP either, in fact the only reason I have one is because I found one at my local thrift store for $14.99 CAD with the original box and everything except the battery inside. It's probably the best deal I've ever got for a gaming console ever. I did have the unfortunate luck however of purchasing just 3 weeks after Sony shut down any remaining PS Store features so if I want to purchase any PSP game digitally I will have to go to my PS Vita or PS3 to purchase anything and transfer it over. It's not too big of a loss though. I have been thinking about buying some PSP games digitally but since PS+ Premium is now here I may want to hold off on purchasing anything until I know for sure the game is coming to PS Plus Premium.

I think even if you have Final Fantasy IV on the PSP then it is still worth considering the DS version as well. They are very different. The DS version is a full 3D remake with voice acting, but lacking the After Years DLC. The PSP version is the most pure to the SNES original, has the DLC plus a new interlude. I've played and completed them both and they are both good in their own way.

There's a few PSP games I still want to find, such as YS Seven and Oath in Felghana, and KH Birth by Sleep and maybe the two god of war games, I would be happy with those. Maybe Trails in the Sky SC and FC if available. But yeah, the PSP is such a great console, I was finally able to find a good one to buy recently too.
I wish sony just decided to re-release the PSP 3000 as some commemorative colors for 20+ years birthday and also to make some quick buck, I know a ton of people would buy them.
Or even I dunno, actually invest on the handheld market but this time without competing with the fucking main console, that would be nice.

I played the hell out of Star Wars Battlefront on my psp back in the day. Funny how I sold my psp without looking back to get a Vita, but in reality I got much more out of my psp. Can only see that in hindsight, though

Just went to a con and bought the original Hatsune Miku Project Diva for psp! Region free systems are really darn cool, even if I don’t understand a lick of Japanese

Last night I was playing God of War Chains of Olympus on my psp and the graphics hold up like peanut butter and jelly. The graphic capability of the psp blows my mind
