After having looked at various double decker cars in this style, I have to say that this is by far the cleanest execution of it I've seen. And the yellow one, too. They look like they came with their respective sets. Well done, sir!
Hello Robin, I just want to tell you that you, your humour and funny scenes got me through the troubles of lockdown, although there is many other Lego TH-cam channels that have more room and a lot more bricks I still always come back to your channel Even 4 years on from those dark days you still make enjoyable videos. I left this comment on your most popular video so hopefully you can see this comment. Thanks for the great content and good luck in the building of Brick Nottingham 2.0. Thanks again and may you continue the great work!
A friend gave me his sons Lego when he sold the house. In the set is a set of those doors. I had no idea how the are intended to be used. Now I have to build a shed for my junkyard with them. Thanks for the part history lesson.
The "cargo train delux" set uses a 1x2 tile in the middle of the bootom rail of the sliding doors and than the doors will not slide to the sides when closed
Brilliant Robin. Your attention to detail is impeccable and your seamless build techniques between the official models and your moc is amazing. The observation car…wow. We hit the lottery with having 2 weeks in a row with a weekend sandwiched between your trains and moc! Sweet weekend and thank you
You're very welcome. There was a skydiving video in between the two train though. Just saying. I felt it was high time my full trains were out and about!

The club car is absolutely cracking! I would only make a single change in the entire design: at 10:15 when you add the lower level windows they are two bricks high, but I would probably build that section with the windows that are three bricks high, eliminating the row of grooved bricks that run through the center horizontally. If I can stock up enough of those windows and locate a dark grey chassis I might have to add this car to my train!
Three tall panels would reveal the bottom of the upper deck. Although not an issue in itself, I also had the 2 high windows already from the original cars!

Ah yes, the mythological double-decker passenger car! We have very few of those here in Denmark. It looks very nice running on the track! WOnderful addition to your city! Thanks for sharing this and keep up the great work :-)
I'm new to the channel in 2021, and you just finished another train with the same pieces for the roof in a different color. The technique held up well.

Well I'm doing a train cargo area and a train shed in due course but then I'm kinda out of train space. I'm also considering trying two trains on one track clearly with dangerous potential for crashes!
I absolutely love both designs! Awesome job Robin! I'm definitely going to have to borrow the club car idea when I build my passenger train. Hi Robin, Thanks for the video. Very nice job on the observation car, I love the seamless front and back glass-on-brick fitting 👍🏼 Also, that sweeper car is a nice addition. As much as i love the look and design of the newest one more, this one (and the other 3 or 4 yellow ones lego made the past 3 decades) has a very nostalgic vibe to it 👌🏼
Hi Robin, nice update once again. 16:30, that is a really nicely done one! In fact that whole glass roof is superb in my opinion. The carriage fits in so well! Love that old streetsweeper btw! 31:00 you were really out of breath, now weren’t you 😱😂
Love the Club car/viewing car, it looks amazing! I have the 60051, and you have made it look awesome! Speaking of the new passenger train (60197 btw(i have it)) Great video, loved it!
My suggestion is move the sliding doors on the mail van up one full brick so they line up more to "platform" level rather then "ground level" and possibly adding a flat plate in the middle of the top runners to stop them sliding around so much in transit. Aside from that it looks quite good.
I've done the plate change already, thanks. The brick height change is a very interesting idea making it more similar to the club car. Hmmmm. The only problem I can see is that there'd be a step down behind the lip of the door then, but that could be fixed. Thanks, I'll try it!
@@RobinHoodBricks im more thinking of taking the brick above the door and putting it below so the roof height stays the same. And if you look at the rest of the cars anyway it does appear that between floor height and window height there is only one brick and a plate whilst on the club car its 2 bricks and a plate for the lower windows. Or maybe leave the doors where they are and make a second level over the top so it looks like the club car, just that the bottom level is for mail. I feel like that would also fit in quite well and make the set look more symmetrical roofline wise.
@@absentjake123 I did understand what you meant about the brick above the door going below. I'll try it. What I mean is that then, when the doors are open, the base will be one brick lower than the door edge, unless I fill in the whole bottom area with dark grey bricks. This is still fine!
Bagage wagon, some trains still have them. Like say a train traveling true the Canadian outback. They do stop in the middle of nowhere for folks to get off, with their off-road buggies and so on.
If you add a 1 by 2 plate in the middle right beneath the top door rail on the mail van, the sliding doors can't slide unintendedly any more - although you can still open and close them as intended. Great work elsewise!
Very, very nice sir Robin. The new double decker car and baggage cars look awesome. I think you should double the baggage car and put a tiny crew area above it maybe. Hi Robin - very excellent moc-up's for both those cars! The club car in particular is really cool. Back in my original lego heyday I had the Metroliner, with that club car, and thought it was so great! Iit's really awesome to see how you built both that, and the mail car, into a practically seamless expansion of that passenger train set. I don't have trains right now myself (hoping someday if I can get a bigger space!) and between what I've seen you do, and what Jang's done, trains seem like an integral part of a true Lego city! I am very curious to see your expected main train station build as well!
Yes, trains are a requirement really, although they take a lot of space which is why I don't have loads of sidings like Jang. The Metroliner was very special. Pity if you don't still have it somewhere. My station won't be too long now. It'll be a mashup of loads of old stations with modern twists!
I wish I did. When I hit my "dark age" back in 2000 or so (when I went to college) I basically abandoned everything I had and it ended up getting progressively lost or gotten rid of through a couple moves. So this past year when I got back into it, I started from scratch.
probably something not very many people would do, but id probably 3D print those slider doors in multiple parts so the white line remains unbroken.. or you could paint the existing doors so they match the layers, but then it would look weird if you put them on a different set [but i really like the train in general]
You could put a seperate light/power package in the tail car. Just a simple matter of an on/off switch (pantograph spring?) and then you would not need to worry about wires through the whole train.
You could have used the “sloped” red stripe sticker that is used on the main engine car and the dummy engine which make a more continuous and less steep stripe . please tell me what you think of this idea ! Thanks!
Nice MOCs as always Robin. The double deck car looks fantastic. I also like the idea of a mail car, which reminds me the very special French "TGV Postal" with its yellow livrée. Just think adding a couple of mail stickers would make it more obvious.
Oh man! I like the mail car but I LOVE your club car!!!! That’s an excellent moc. Lego should definitely consider making club cars for future train sets!
HiHo Robin Fabulous! Oh how I wish I had the space for a city let alone a rail layout! I totally love the club car. It reminds me of those carriages you see on trains running through the Rocky Mountains in North America, brilliant! I’m not sure why double-decker trains have never been considered for British railways. Maybe our tunnels weren’t designed for them? I’ve been on them in Germany. It’s quite the thrill to go upstairs! I spent a number of years working for Royal Mail in their public affairs team as a manager. One of my roles included briefing opinion formers, MPs etc., about the benefits of the Travelling Post Offices we operated. Then later, our new £300 million pound rail network. This meant organising the official openings of new dedicated sorting offices along various rail networks up and down the U.K. we heavily invested in a network of new trains based on the Networker model. Eventually, due to the very unreliable rail freight service operated by EWS, Royal Mail abandoned both the TPO network and the new bulk letter carrying mail trains. I no longer work for Royal Mail, but I believe that only a very small percentage of U.K. mail is still transported by rail. And the mail which is, tends to be carried on scheduled passenger services in dedicated holding areas. Great MOCs Sir. Well done! 👍👍
make sure they are all six studs apart! EDIT: you are one of the good youtubers who reply to nearly all comments, u deserve more subs. YA HEAR ME PEOPLE? SPREAD THE WORD!
This is a really cool train but with the pentagraphs, I feel like it either needs them removed or it needs more of them for that many carriages, plus it almost looks like the double decker carriage is higher than the pentagraphs. I do really like it though. I have the base set myself and i think i might follow your lead with the double decker carriage. it just looks so damn clean.
I've also done doubles for the more recent passenger trains and more variations for this white one. The pantographs are low to fit through my tunnels and train shed!
Awesome video dude loved what you've built :) bit too long in my opinion maybe shorten some clips and cut out dead air but other than that super good job
I had this set but I dismantled it because I needed the white side bits for a custom house. I was watching your railroad crossing and wondering when you will enlarge it yesterday. Now this video!
Love the club car great work! I look forward to seeing your station MOC when you get round to it 😀 Although I gather it won't be feasible to have a platform long enough to cover the entire length of the train. Think you've motivated me to get on with my train. Great stuff! 👍

or you could paint the existing doors so they match the layers, but then it would look weird if you put them on a different set
[but i really like the train in general]
It'd be fun to try but I'm no 3d print guy!
You could put a seperate light/power package in the tail car. Just a simple matter of an on/off switch (pantograph spring?) and then you would not need to worry about wires through the whole train.
Yeah but I'm not sure it's worth it for a pair of lights, haha!
Sir, this beautiful double decker wagon and post wagon mod made me purchase this Lego set. BTW your channel is great and enjoying.
Thank you very much. Enjoy the train, it was my first and caused this whole channel to happen!
You could have used the “sloped” red stripe sticker that is used on the main engine car and the dummy engine which make a more continuous and less steep stripe . please tell me what you think of this idea !
Thanks!
That is a very sensible idea. I have a few spare ones of those as well. I'll give it a try and get back to you. Thanks!

Nice MOCs as always Robin. The double deck car looks fantastic. I also like the idea of a mail car, which reminds me the very special French "TGV Postal" with its yellow livrée. Just think adding a couple of mail stickers would make it more obvious.
Awesome plan on the stickers. I have a few too!
Oh man! I like the mail car but I LOVE your club car!!!! That’s an excellent moc. Lego should definitely consider making club cars for future train sets!
I agree. LEGO truly could do a lot more with their trains. They used to do a lot more sets that augmented trains but now they only do the main builds!
Wow, amazing, especially love the double decker 👍👏
Hahaha, yay!
HiHo Robin
Fabulous!
Well done! 👍👍
Wow, that's really interesting. You've had a few careers it seems. No room? Space under a bed maybe?!
Robin Hood Bricks ...I was multitasking 😁 I have a storage bed... so not even under there!
@@RobinHullBuilds Darn!
@@RobinHullBuilds By the way your suggestion re the flask at the Pharmacy is in Monday's video!
You should add a conductor telling the minifigs about where they are going on the top deck of the club car.
I think I may have a spare one!
I like what you did, dude. Keep it up.
Thanks, Saxon. I will!
Yes sir, this is one of the cleanest train MOC's ever done.
60051 mods rarely look good but yours does. Congrats.
Oooh, thank you. High praise indeed!
Nice MOC, Fits well with the train
Thanks, Niko!
This is fantastic. Thanks for this video! I would love to make these eventually.
Yes, not too difficult. The bases might be the hardest bits to get. Enjoy!
Nice Train and carriages! I would make the normal passenger cars longer tho and maybe remove one of them to make it look better.
Thanks!
Absolutely love this train!! You’ve done a fantastic job!! 🤙🤙🤙
Cheers, Rino!
Maybe use a white sticker on the bottom of the sliding doors to let the stripe continue? Great vind as always!
The door is a bit too lumpy for that. Good idea though!
Super job, I love the design. Would be great if LEGO sold add on cars for these sets!
I couldn't agree more. They'd sell well I think. Especially multiple cargo carriages!
make sure they are all six studs apart!
EDIT: you are one of the good youtubers who reply to nearly all comments, u deserve more subs. YA HEAR ME PEOPLE? SPREAD THE WORD!
You are a sage and wise person, clearly!
That is very nicely done love it
I've done another video, recently, for a Buffet car. Check it out!
Well, looks like I need to order some more parts for my commuter train... Very well done, sir! :)
Haha. Cool, let me know how you get on!
Your observation car gives me ideas for a moc off my own 😀
Go for it!
that is so creative I love it!
Thanks, Suzanne. I hope you subscribed!
your welcome!
Shoutout to this video appearing in my recommended feed a few weeks back
Edit: Oh and the Mocs look fantastic
Wow, thank you!
AMAZING. Ive always really like the Lego trains and boats, so this was really cool to see.
Much appreciated!
Awesome video dude loved what you've built :) bit too long in my opinion maybe shorten some clips and cut out dead air but other than that super good job
I think my videos are tighter now but they're also a bit longer usually. Another train MOC tomorrow!
I had this set but I dismantled it because I needed the white side bits for a custom house. I was watching your railroad crossing and wondering when you will enlarge it yesterday. Now this video!
Well you can rebuild it whenever you want to go back!
@@RobinHoodBricks I guess so, and maybe modify it too.
Love the club car great work! I look forward to seeing your station MOC when you get round to it 😀 Although I gather it won't be feasible to have a platform long enough to cover the entire length of the train. Think you've motivated me to get on with my train. Great stuff! 👍
Trains are the best, and no the platform will not be long enough!
That large car is absolutely beautiful. Lego will be jealous of that. Perhaps they will ask if they can use the design :)
And the other car is also awesome ...
Well anyone can take any of my ideas with my blessing!
Those carriages look amazing!
Thanks!
Ive actually had this train. it all broke into peices one day. only 1 car remains intact and im still trying to fix the others. Amazing video! made me think of my train
Good luck. You can get the instructions online if you google 60051!
@@RobinHoodBricks The thing is, I cant actually find the parts! I lost it years ago. I actually just went down to where my legos are and started making a whole train model inspired after yours!. I dont have that much space so tis pretty small and the trains look pretty bad in their condition. Thanks!
About motors. You also can reverse polarity in one of them and connect them together
Of course using 2 battery boxes and 2 remote controllers using same control set
Yes, I've done exactly that on my red cargo train, The Beast, but from the same battery!
Awesome job keep up the great work. Now that I'm older I wish I would have kept all my sets.
Haha, me too. I had loads of vintage Space sets!
love the designs Robin , thanks for a great demo. I was wondering , what is the part number for the trans-back roof panels. Thanks
The curved ones? "Windscreen 8 x 6 x 2 Curved" #41751
Or the slopes? "Slope 33 3 x 6 without Inner Walls" #58181
Enjoy!
That is fantastic Robin, I’m finally got a chance to catch up now son gone back to school...woo hoo, that observations carriage is brilliant just like the one I’ve seen on tourist places really good trains moc Robin❤️👍🥰❤️👍
Thanks, Gala. Train videos are always popular!
The train looks very good
Thanks, Branislav!
;)
You should make a steam locomotive moc. It would be a great addition to your city.
It would be, but generally they are quite wide and might hit every tunnel and my raised tram line. Maybe one day as I love the look of them!
Robin Hood Bricks so make a tank engine based on an E2 they are thin and blocky so Lego works well with them and NEVER try German steam engines as most are wider than modern engines along with most sets when built
Nice video you just earned a sub! Keep up the good work
Welcome. Don't worry, I will!
Brick link. I need to check the web sight out ..I scord a dinar brand new in box today..so will be customising it tonight an tomora ..I need a new. Train. ... Injoying your two story train build
Good to hear!
These look excellent, what are the part numbers for the base chassis plates please? Thx
There are two: 87058 and 2972. Enjoy!
OMG Verry good your carriage is great 👍🏻
Yay, thanks!
