That’s a really cute train. The only suggestion we can think to improve it would be attaching some chains to it to make it look like it’s secured onto the train carriage. 👍🏻
Two things !!! I think you should have some chains thrown over the buffers and attached on that bottom peace just infront of the train rail peace, as they would have it strapped down. And inside definitely needs some seats and such old ledge with a coffee cup and some leavers !! Really cool build 😎👌
The doors and other faded bricks are *perfect* for a run-down and well used shunter. Since you've got the boxes of "stuff" on the ends, why not put the magnet couplers in a pile on one end. Consistent with parts that have been removed for transit. Build looks really great.
More trains!! Still need more trains. I would suggest adding in some detail such as sticker or something. Also a suggestion for a new train build, not sure if it exists in real life, but a fire engine carriage.
Very cool build. I would suggest adding a chain to each corner of the shunter to the flat car. Loads like this are usually chained down to keep them from shifting.

@@RobinHoodBricks It's because I want a city like you, but I don't have enough room, so I'm gonna make some shelves into different little scenes I also don't have enough money :(

Turned out great mate , I really like it . The worn/used / damaged bits really came out well . Looks like it has lived a very for filled life . I now want a small shunter for my cargo yard ... Thank you and as always keep up the great work.
As a proud owner of the original 7710 train, this video sure made me smile. And what a great adaptation! I love the multi-color dedign! I also really liked your use of worn pieces in the build. I try to use that technique in my builds too! Nice build!
Wow this is a fantastic build and really make me want to build one for my city. I just love how compact it is and how amazingly it fits on the wagon. Awesome work my friend. Another great addition to your cargo train and city. Thanks for sharing.
To further sell the old broken down image of the shunter, maybe make one side of the look like it has a big dent in it with some cheese wedges or mount a plate hanging off the side of it like a misfitting cover. To liven up the bed you could have a spare wheel or some more chains holding the shunter in place. Or maybe take off part of the build and put it on the bed and then have the exposed section look like it has some kind of engine in it? Might be doable by fitting together some one and two brick modified plates in weird ways.
Ingenious way to get a 2-in-1 package for this build! The only thing I'd say is put a grey plate over the front and back of the build (if possible) to cover up that bright-yellow pint sticking up for the wheels. Almost getting to the point where you need another motor in one of the engines!
Well done Robin you took my advice on the windows and slide them. BTW back in the 60s and 70s many of those sets had HO scaling to go with genuine train layouts. That's why the doors were 3 bricks high etc.
Lovely addition to the train set. And it’s even better because it’s economical (didn’t break the bank just to buy an old set) and creative in using currently available pieces...+++points for that one
Loving every train build. that shunter looks perfect, nice and old, used, well worked, and now being relocated hopefully for more duty and not the scrap yard. I think there is a lot of open space on your flatbed front and back. you might add a few Hoboes or "Freighthoppers" for those hobophobic, which might add to why there are rail workers chasing the train... sorry if I offend anyone, it's all in fun. as always thank you for the great video and amazing city of Brick Nottingham.
This is awesome! Although I think it should go next to the crane car so it’s available to load it off and on when it reaches its destination...never haha
very nice again Robin. you made me feel old again. [ I've got that helipad from my childhood]. have you ever thought of making some of your train car plans available for sale? a few of us might be interested.
I'm sorry to break it to you but owning that set does make you a little old at least, haha. I plan to put all my designs on Rebrickable, but how I'm supposed to find the time on top of three videos a week I don't know. And the weather's getting nicer. Even less time!
Hate to admit you're right. But at least I'm not 60 YET. Hear you on being short of time. If you get them on rebrickable I suspect it'll cost me money. Happy me, sad wallet
They're actually new ones, but I know why you thought that. The original has them. Mine is more of a mash-up of different train stations including new bits and bobs. It's a fun video series if you're interested!
That's a great idea! Jang has one or two shunters in his rail areas and they are a pretty neat vehicle so a great idea to include. The concept with it being transported is cool, and love the design and colors -- definitely stands out!
Fantastic work! I don’t think I’ve seen many well wagons/low loaders made in lego but this is probably the best. I’d recommend adding chain pieces to secure the shunter though, even if just for decoration.
Perhaps you could have in the fairground, in the corner a narrow gauge railway. Just the station bit, as there are a few places in the UK like Hollycombe which is the largest collection of steam powered vehicles and rides in Britain. TechBrick resell TrixBrix narrow gauge track for the UK, and it would be nice to see more UK narrow gauge prototypes.
Looks great! It may be better to switch the LBG ladders on the front and rear of the train to DBG to match the roof line. I was also thinking that a lift crane on the front or rear of the car to remove the engine would be nice as well even though it may not be realistic.
I. Love. This. Build! What a great idea, Robin! One of my favorite aspects is embracing the use of more degraded pieces to illustrate a well-worn work history. There are two suggestions I would like to submit: First, these types of engines usually had some sort of an exhaust stack. In a similar small shunter, I used one of the cone pieces (which you used for decoration) as the exhaust stack. Place one atop the front section to give a better look. Second, if you remove the yellow ladder pieces from the depressed center flatcar, would the magnetic couplers be able to fit? I know that to be transported, sometimes parts do need to be removed, but it would be better to have them intact if they'll fit. IF they don't fit after removing the yellow ladders, consider lashing them down with chains or putting them in a crate atop one of the raised ends of the flatcar.
This looks like a cool train build. I have no suggestions for improvements because I know literally nothing about trains apart from they run on tracks and they are normally delayed 😂😂😂😂😂 anyway great build as always 😀😀
If you have any more of the chains, you could put 2 on each end and have it connected from the shunter to the flatbed carriage so it looks like it’s securing it. You could try them crossed. Might make it look a bit more sturdy. It doesn’t appear to need it but maybe just for aesthetics.
I thought these were pushed on the rails without power. At least that is what was done with big boy 4014 when it was restored. Then again the big boys were the largest and most powerful steam engines so it makes sense to do this for smaller engines
