    Great looking model! It's amazing how much of a difference using longer, more realistic looking coaches makes. it looks like a real train now.

  • @apexmoto9610
    @apexmoto9610 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    This is really nice and much more realistically scaled than the stock set. 4 motors and 4 batts must have some serious hauling power. I'd prefer to only have a single dinning car among the 4 coaches however. I wanna build this with my son, but we only have one set at the moment. Where I'm located it would cost me another €360, bringing the total cost to €480. I think Lego trains are really amazing and it's a great hobby to get into with your kids, but damn they're not exactly cheap.

      I think they did that specifically for it to be more expandable, like what this guy's doing; he had to buy more than one to get the reverse loco, but got more middle cars than you normally would from one of these sets in the process.

      Well consider that you are buying specialized pieces in this set ie new motor set up and track plus you are paying for good quality plastic with the bricks plus, the price is based on the number of pieces in a set and that is fair for LEGO as they already mark off some of the budget for parts count anyway

    • @thedemolitionmuniciple
      @thedemolitionmuniciple 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@happiestcamel5064 It's a little hard for a kid to save up for a $150 train set or get their parents to spend that much, and more than a little disappointing when they only get three medium-sized cars and so little track, but I see where you're coming from as well.

    There is an awesome Lego Via Rail that needs support on Lego Ideas. It might be turned into a Lego set that you can buy. It can be motorized with Lego Powered Up. It comes with a baggage car that can store canoes, a sleeping car with a lot play features, and a dome car with a lot of play features. I really want this train to achieve support and be turned into a Lego set.

    Lego needs more focus on Lego Trains. The hobby of Model Railways is still strong and I think Lego can go head to head with Hornby when it comes to getting younger kids and non-train fans into the hobby. Think of all the engines and trains from across the world they could sell? All the stations, signal boxes and sheds that would be fun to make and set up on a layout. Personally, that would be a dream come true.

    I have a suggestion for when the next snowfall rolls around: Maybe build a specialized snow-clearing train, with a dense/heavy snow-plow car in front of a couple of grizzled locos? I think it'd be interesting to see up to five such engines, dark colored and brooding, working through snowdrifts. If you wish, I can give you suggestions on how to do it, being an avid lego builder myself :0

    The carriages certainly look a lot better proportioned with the double length. The 6x24 base makes them four times as long as their width, but you've now made them eight times longer than it, which I think is a lot closer to the proportions of real train carriages. One criticism I might have is that if you were going to make them longer then it might have been good to use some of that extra length to put doors in them, but other than that they look great!

      Yes, the Lego curved tracks kind of suck for those kind of trains. You could use the Flexitracks, but I dont really like them. So, the ones I use are from Trixbrix. Which I actually consider to tape coppertape on, to use the 9V engines as well.

      @@Valthornet I printed my own modified and it works very well with normal Lego tracks. It is 4x4 and 2/3 high.
