  • Carpintis Green Texas Cichlid Care - Size & Aggression . These fish grow fast and I feed them the medium to large omega one brand food. Texas cichlids love this food.
About the aquarium carpintis green Texas Cichlid.
I used Panacur dog dewormer granules I got from the vet after Prazipro did nothing. I recommend you contact a vet. You use the granules to medicate food... Easiest way is lay out flake food in a plate. Mist with water until damp... Then sprinkle the dosage required for 3 doses on the food evenly. Let it dry till full dry and then divide into three equal doses. Feed each dose two days apart. Fast the fish for 2 days before feeding he medicated food. The day after each dose do a thorough gravel vaccuum. After three doses fast fish for two days and then feed blanched shelled peas for two days to help pass any worm corpses. Repeat treatment in two weeks.
These are actually called Camallanus worms.
Best of luck to you.... It killed 80% of the fish I had in a 90g, 25g, and 10g because I didn't realize not to use the same nets and gravel vacs in multiple tanks.
Wow. Thank you so much I'm going to try my best . I've had my paradise fish for at least 7 months. Got them from quatentiening them at work.... they got the redworms from a betta a rescued at petsmart that was in with them. I should always quarantine but it's taken over rather month for them to ever show up.
Darn calling the vet asap. I have 3 ottocats and 2 siamese algae eaters in there as well. I know the ottos will not eat the medicated food how on earth do I help them I'm stressin.
This is one of 2 keyholes I picked up almost a fortnight ago. Hes tiny, about an inch long. When the guy in the store caught him, he took a full 20 minutes chasing him around the tank before smooshing him with the frame of the net. The other keyhole he caught fine. The other keyhole is fine and eating behaving normally. They are both together in a 10g quarantine. This one has darkened considerably and hasn't eaten much since I got him. His fins are very clamped up too.
Tank parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10ppm nitrates. Ph is 6.8. For the last 5 days I have been treating with maracyn 2 to try and prevent any internal infection due to injury and or stress. I am wondering if he has parasites and if so what would be the best course of action to take ? Some help please, as I don't want to loose this little guy, it's taken me 3 years to find him and his buddy.
Keyholes are funny fish, they stress out very easy. Give'em 24 hours in the dark. the pair I have, have spawned a couple times for me. And will clamp fins and lay down like yours. If you where closer, you could come get this pair. Been tring to give them away for a couple of months. Good luck.
That's to bad. I work at the lfs and I wouldn't have gave you the fish if I'd done that on accident. You should have said something at point of sale so you could be reimbursed if something like this happened. poor guy . That's a good preventative med action as of now . Does he have trouble getting around ? If he does i would suggest a smaller tank or a netted separate space to prevent further injury.
That does make it difficult. I'm going to guess you've tried the frozen already. Hopefully he wasn't damaged by the pet store employee. There are live food cultures available on line, like from aqua bid, ebay, and various Facebook groups. Things like daphnia, various worms, and fruit flies, can be cultured in small containers, like plastic shoe boxes. In case you ever wanted to try live foods.
Does the black light used for glofish tanks promote algae growth? Trying to figure out if my cousin's tank just has new tank syndrome or if the light may be contributing.

Palmer I kept one when I was a kid many moons ago.. I was 12 years old and my papa for my birthday bought me a 150 gallon tank. I saw this little runt fish at the lfs it had a blueish green tint even at 1.5 inches so I took him home , he was $7 back in 1983... I bonded with this fish as I noticed he would want interaction..he was sooooooooooo aggressive to everything except me I would hand feed him.. first few months he had a field day biting the shit out of me. Moving forward 3 or 4 years he was about 10 inches I’d say if my memory serves me right and he earned the name “Turk the jerk” because he was a gorgeously colorful turquoise color but an absolute brute , but I like fish like this!!!! I couldn’t keep things with him I tried what I could from oscars, Plecos, other fish they said might be able to fight back but as he got bigger it was futility!!! He lived until I was 21 years old and one morning when I awoke I noticed there was no splashing or gregarious behavior which was the norm...I tried to keep him upright but to no avail!!! He hurt me tremendously and I really loved this fish I know sounds corny but this FISH was almost human , it only needed to talk!!! Now almost 40 years later I still remember him and talk about him to friends!!! I hope I didn’t ramble to much buddy have a blessed one keep up the good work

UGH! I knew you were going to compare em to the convicts, I’ll never keep any type of convict ever again. Ahhhh well my JD’s aren’t all that aggressive. I’ve got 2 of em along w a GT, 2 EBA’s, 2 orange blood parrots, a firemouth, & maybe a dozen smaller striped or albino polar parrots.

But at the same time I just love seeing him be well a fish you know making his beds and shit. Idk maybe I should find him a gf but then again idk if she would get along with my other fish all the fish I have have grown up together so they know their tank mates. Idk if shell be as cool as he is around my elephant nose or upside down catfish 😅

One of my favorite cichlids. I kept four medium-small TC's in a 55-gallon. The two pairs split the tank and bred and reaised fry at each end of the tank without any effort by me simply because I had unknowingly provided the environment for them: a red and gray shale background with embedded logs whose hollows provided safe havens for breeding. Texas Cichlids are beautiful, fecund, and a joy to keep.

@@thinkinsidetheboxsquarecir3303little bit late, but he's almost certainly referring to the Colorado River in Texas. Completely different river with the same name. They're not technically native there, with their natural range being in South Texas, but they've been introduced to central Texas and don't seem to be causing too much trouble.

Chris I used to be a huge fan of yours but I am very disappointed with the information in this video I know this is an old video so maybe you've learned more about the Texas cichlid since this video came out but for starters the red Texas and the two common Texas cichlids are nowhere near the same in fact a red Texas is not even a natural occurring fish it is a hybrid and then you also failed to mention the difference between a green Texas and a regular Texas and the difference is they are both two different fish completely if you go by their respective names the green Texas is called the pearlscale cichlid(h.carpintis) and the true texas cichlid(h.cyanoguttatus) both two different fish one from Mexico one from Texas both referred to as Texas cichlids although the carpintis for some reason over the years has now been called the green Texas probably because they both hail from the same genus so either way Chris you need to do some more research on your Texas cichlids bro

I have a green Texas cichlid that was originally in a 55 gallon but he attacked my Oscar and killed him. I took him out of my community tank and now he’s just hanging out in a 20gallon until I get a 125. I am concerned about what other fish to put him with in the big tank? Help? I know you said a red devil, any others?

  • @AqualifeTv
    @AqualifeTv 6 ปีที่แล้ว

In my experience they are less agressive than midas. A lot of people use them to breed reds. Thats probably why they are that popular. Red texas is red parrot/ mammon/ kkp x carpintis. But only a few turn red.

Probably, if they're big enough, like mystery snails. I've only had convicts, and I had a mystery snail with them. I'd be concerned about smaller snails being a tasty snack, but as I said, I only have experience with convict cichlids. The size of tank is important/influential, too.
