Your big male isn't a carpintis .it's spots are too small. That's a cyanogattatus or true Texas in my opinion or a carpintis X cyanogattatus , I'm no expert, ask one of the carpintis groups. The green, Rio hondo and Escondido are all carpintis.
What’s up man. I’m getting into American cichlids and love the videos your putting out. Just had my rainbow cichlid pair lay in with my Texas cichlids. Should I remove the eggs? Or do you think they will be good?
Freedom Aquatics - I wouldn’t keep Texas with rainbows unless it’s a large tank with lots of fish. Maybe in a 125g. I would remove if you want to keep them
Whats the easiest way to tell the which is male or female without venting I have a Texas cichlid not sure exactly which one, it did look like yours with the smaller spots than as time went on they got bigger and pretty much become one big spot.
Having trouble sexing my texas cichlid so i can find a breeding partner and move them to a larger separated tank . It appears that there may or may not be a hump developing . Is there anybody i can send a picture to that can help
Right now I have a fish like that. Right now it’s one of my Jack Dempsey’s. He’s growing faster than the other Jack Dempsey and my 2 Green Terrors. I got them all at the same time and size but he’s just growing faster. He’s not drastically bigger than them or anything though. Recently he’s been being more aggressive. He’s not hurting any of the other fish but he’s definitely chasing them around here and there during the day. I’m home all the time so I’m able to watch and make sure he doesn’t start doing any damage. He’s definitely not s bad as my previous electric blue Jack Dempsey’s who just could not be in a tank with any other fish at all. Because of that I’m buying a bunch of new things for my tank to give more and better hiding places for the others and him to see if that helps. Last time I did that I worked out really well so hoping it works just as good this time around.
Very disappointed with the information provided in this video Chris and the reason for that to start is and I say this as respectfully as I can you have no clue what you're talking about when it comes to Texas cichlids. The reason for different colors in different looking "Texas cichlids" is because there's two different species a fish called Texas cichlids the first one being h.carpintis also know as the green Texas or pear scale cichlid it's from northern Mexico and usually sports a nice blue color with lots of Pearl's and then you have the true Texas cichlid from texas h.Cyanoguttatus which usually is darker greens or even white with lots of smaller pearls. The electric blue Texas is just specific line bred h.carpintis for there deep blues.please do your research chris I've even heard you say red texas are just another color variation of the texas cichlid when it's actually a hybrid.please do your info before making these videos so people can care for their fish properly
@@Silentjustin06 can you post a link to the video? I saw two texas cichlids you had in a tank with a green terror and one looked like a true carpintis and the other seemed to be but i could he wrong but he looks like a hybrid of a cyanoguttatus and a carpintis so hes still a texas technically but hes of two different blood lines. Carpintis are usually a deep blue with nice big white pearls
@@teflondon6407 Sorry but I don't know how to link the video. It's the video titled ( flowerhorn and new green terror. Large green terror at end) on my channel. Skip to 2:19
Texas are crazy aye, mines a crazy blue the only thing that it allows to live with it is a small female dovii. It’s funny how you mention their the new flowerhorns I treat mine like a flowerhorn nice euro 75gal just to itself an that small dovii
I love American cichlids but I haven’t had great luck as far as aggression goes. Especially with Red Devils and Oscars. Had to exile or rehome. Tempting to get a Texas though. My 3 peacock bass are super easy going. No aggression whatsoever.
Test strip tip...When you get more test strips cut them in half length ways. It does not make them less accurate and you get twice as many tests.
You're a hero my man

I agree, Carpintis have a different color pattern completely. Cyanos have silver speckles covering green base body
Correct I love palmar but he is not always right. Everyone makes mistakes.
I agree, I have kept Carpintis in the past. This fish is definitely a Herichthys Cyanoguttatus aka a Texas Cichlid not a Carpintis.
Yeah you said it right. That's a cyano.
what the big bubbler in the sand?
Carpintis and green texas cichlids are often confused as the same fishes but they are not the same. If you dont believe me then check the sci. name.
How can I stop my juvenile red devil chasing my blue Texas

When asking questions is it okay to just do it in the comments or is there somewhere else you want us to send you messages?

I’ve got 5 of them and i payed the real cheap price of free99. Just caught them at the local pond. Best fish I’ve ever had for sure
What local pond?
That’s a straight up Texas blue, nothing else.
I have a texas blue and a convict in the same tank

Can you tell me what mine is? It's in my most recent videos. It was labeled a carpintis. He's big! Whatever he is. I'd say 8-9 inches

My texas is highly aggressive. Similar to oscars and red devils.
My " electric" blue texas looks nothing like this. Much better color
I want a Texas cichlid
only one woop :(
This is just a cyn not a carpintis. Carpintis look really good once mature
