The 5" G2 is my favorite to use. The Nano Ti is my most-used because I've had it longest. I love all of my Firebox gear, whether stainless or Ti. You and the pups stay well over there now that you're on the mend.
Its the 5" folder for me. I have the stainless and the titanium. I have loaded up the stainless and burned it for hours as a campfire and it has never warped. its awesome. only drawback is its weight, that's why I bought the titanium. It will warp a bit but easy to bend back. some people say, "sure you could just light an open fire." Sure I could but 1. I would leave a fire scar, 2. I would make twice the smoke, 3. It would take longer to burn out and 4. I would have to process twice, maybe three times the wood
Great points, thanks for a great comment. I get what you mean, I loved lighting open fires and still do , but only in certain locations , with the firebox I can light one anywhere
I love the 5” ss. It seems like you almost put wood in and it lights itself. The thing is crazy efficient! I AM SO WITH YOU ON YOUR 4 POINTS!!! I watch a lot of Canadian canoeing TH-cam channels and everyone always has to hike a half mile away from there camp to get big enough wood to process to put into a fire ring at a site. I’m always thinking to myself - “why don’t these people use a firebox 5” so they don’t have to spend an hour snd a half dragging, sawing and splitting wood”. I bought a titanium rocket stove from a different vendor who i really like as well as Steves and the thing started warping at the base spilling fire out of the bottom of the stove. I got rid of that one as I didn’t want someone else to use it. Great to hear someone shares my opinion on using a firebox 5” instead of a fire!! Take care. NQU
I am totally sold on the 5”!! I love that thing!! It’s great for carcamping and will be great for kayak camping! I’ve been trying to get used to the nano but I think I’m too adhd for the nano. If one is side feeding, it requires some gentle finessing and I’m really more of a get a fire going and keep throwing sticks in from the top or side. The nano is an excellent excellent stove!! I just don’t think I have the patience for it. I have two that I use for backpacking. One is a ss 4 panel stove made in the USA by another vendor and the solo stove lite which is made in china. The original American version of that one takes a long wait time to get. But ya it’s really just my personal issues that makes using the nano a challenge for me. If I didn’t have the other 4 panel stove I would totally be down with getting the scout cuz that puppy is right up my alley!!👍🏼 set it down, get a little piece of my firestarter going in it carefully put some twigs in and we’re off to bacontown!!!😁
Brace yourselves Steve is coming up with a new one called Freestyle! I honestly don’t have a preference and I have them all, sometimes it easier if you have 2 running at the same time, one for coffee and one for cooking.
As for the new Firebox Freestyle Stove... It still has a few tricks up its sleeve for me to reveal, I'm not intending to tease, we had some unexpected circumstances that are pushing back our launch date. Doing our best to make this new stove available as soon as possible! 👍😎 Will probably be able to launch in about a month.
I'm waiting on my Scout. I have currently 2 G2s, 1 each stainless and Ti and a Nano. They are hands down the best I've ever used. Can't wait to get the entire freestyle set when they drop. Cheers👌🤠👍
Very well said Wooly! Same but different. I consider the 5-in primarily a wood burner but works well using alcohol as a backup I see the Nano a little more as a alcohol pot stand first and a wood burner second. The Scout like you said was designed specifically for emergency preparedness. One correction, while the Scout lids weren't necessarily intended for food I'm sure they would be safe to eat out of as a plate to eat out of...but not combined with heat. they would not work well as a pot or frying pan and may not be food safe when heated over a wood flame. I also don't think they would be watertight for liquids. 👍🙏😎 Great video!
i got the gen 1 folding firebox just after they came out years ago,, no side feed holes,, but i still love it,, i pre-ordered the scout, hopefully by the end of feb or march i'll get it,, ,, i love your videos by the way
I have all 3 stoves and am looking forward to Steve’s next one he recently showed in his last video. I love love these stoves! I also have Gen 1 firebox and still use it. Great video and glad you made this one. Glad you’re out and about again! Keep them coming
Why choose? I own all of them, except for the Freestyle, but I've placed my request for it. Each one has a purpose. There isn't such a thing as a "wrong" Firebox stove.

Cheers buddy, still testing positive at the moment but we're feeling much better, should be "allowed" out soon
Different tools for different jobs! They all play their part. Nice video, Wooly!

Great thread guys
I only have the stainless Nano but it seems perfectly usable for three people, maybe even four depending on what you are cooking.
Agreed, with a bit of practice and some extra kit
I've got the Gen 2 firebox I absolutely love it Wooly
Brilliant, a great choice
I’m gonna see about this freestyle when it comes out.
I know! Steve tricked us all with that one

Lol
How ya like the freestyle?
I like it, it's very versatile, I can cook a bbq on it then use it as a fire pit, a nice size as a single stove to

👍
You only need the firebox gen 2 in titanium an you are good to go
That would be nice , and the way my addiction is going I'll probably end up getting one! Lol
The one that doesn’t cost me anything, and is filled with food preserved for 20- 50 years😂😅😂😅😂
Nice
@@RedBranchBushcraft you know me, i just had to! Now that I finished shoveling out a school parking lot, sidewalks and entrances!
Mate?? How was your covid cold😆???
Ah , yeah, it was ok, nothing major, still testing positive though, so still in isolation
