- Highlights from Thatcher's speech during a debate on political union and single currency of Europe held in 1991.
The former PM shows an incredible ability to see long into the future and predicts many of the things that would happen in future years. From the disaster of exit of the ERM to the need for a referendum and even the rise of an anti EU party.
The Major Govt is subjected to a harsh lesson of democracy and common sense by their former leader.
"Not yet, down!" 😅😅
"In my day, that would have required the occasional use of the handbag." That was hilarious.
This woman was marvellous. She foresaw it all and every thing she said is so relevant to what is happening today.
Today? With the Brexit? UK is going bust
What an amazing woman - she forsaw it all.
You and margaret are my idols , continue putting those videos and teach young men and women who made Britain!
i will continue posting for a long time to come. the reason i have an almost endless bank of footage to draw from is evidence of just how great she really was. i do not ever have to look at a bit of thatcher footage and then decide not to upload it because im ashamed of the message she gave. even when i do think she is wrong it is so trivial that it has not yet stopped me from uploading anything.....
this is why there are many thatcher channels on youtube and as yet i have not found any that post as much or as often in backing up major, blair, brown and cameron....... i dont blame them as i would not want to show people such a bad record if i did support any of these idiots....
not to worry though i shall post them on my channel eventually
***** You are doing me and all those in my generation a huge service - you deserve a medal simply for sharing this great treasure!!
***** Cameron is doing the best to his ability in being in a coalition government and I must say it's time conservatives of all backgrounds do unite to oust this coalition pact and elect a majority Tory government. I quote from the lady herself when talking about giving the people the choice over Europe 'they will turn to extreme partys.' A great sense of irony in that considering it is happening with the emergence of Ukip and I very much predict that could under our FPTP system split our share of the vote and give Labour the chance to reck the slow but obvious recovery we've achieved. I respect much of what Margaret Thatcher did and there are lessons to be drawn from her but it's time we move forward as much of what she predicted has already happened. Unless we back our PM and give him a chance of a 2nd term with a majority we shouldn't simply run down his leadership and record in government yet.
PS I've enjoyed the videos over the last 5 years of seeing them published *****
Tony Vasiliou
cameron is a failure. he deserves no support from conservatives. i will be voting ukip and i strongly urge all other thatcherites to do the same.
You are very much abandoning the very things Thatcher stood for promoting such a move. If we actually stood more loyal to our party than go for a minority party (which by the way stand for dismantling some of what Margaret Thatcher achieved) we'd see more chance of staying strong as a country and uphold our standing world wide. Do I think Britain should fight it's cause in Europe YES and do I support a referendum Absolutely, however a straight exit NO as many in several fields and professions that I've read have highlighted the damage it would do and limit our open connections where Europe collectively stands as a market (I'd only hope the NAFTA would welcome Britain as a member in the event of such a move).
She was so right about this whole Europe thing: As an American of British decent I hope the UK rejects he EU referendum and keeps its sovereignty
And now we The UK is Free And Independent.

As a Brit you were right then.....and you're right now ....like you say it's a disaster
Great to see Maggie being in the right once again.
That's what you _don't_ see from most former PMs, willing to stand on the back benches and make a speech, looking at the dispatch box that they once occupied. Brown, Blair... I bet sitting next to Maggy is intimidating for the two MPs eitherside haha!
Agreed, she had more respect and passion for her role and to her constituents and carried on with her duties as an MP until stepping down for a new candidate later on. The rest after just a load of hot air that unfortunately a majority of the nation fell for...
I'm curious, did she attend PMQs regularly after she left office?
Late comment seen as though May wasn’t in office when this comment was made, but Theresa May now sits in the back benches
Good old Maggie. Kicking ass and taking names.
I so admire politicians who swim against the tide. I so admire Mrs. Thatcher.
The UK may be grateful to Thatcher for saving £, if not for her stubbornness, things would have gone the same way as in other Eurosocialist states.
@Daniel Clark Clark At present pound sterling is the currency which it may not hv been if she would not hv been stubborn any her international policies , stop ur fake agenda
And now Brexit UK is going bust…
@@ir7910 But not because of brexit. Britain has a pathological political class, and this pathology has penetrated every single institution at this point, so regression into crime ridden Mordor with all dysfunctional social services is the only future.
Great stuff! I agree with the comments below that Thatcher was absolutely on target in predicting the disillusionment of voters with the Eurocrats and the rise of parties like UKIP. The Establishment never listens!
Greatly missed. RIP.
Thank you for your message. Most informed and intelligent. Goes to show that when people do there own research and form their own opinions based on their own judgement they can make an informed statement, other than just reading the biased newspapers
I love it when she slaps Kinnock down...
Such a strong person with true authority,,” no sit DOWN “ brilliant.
we'll never have another like her :(
God bless her! The Euro is a backdoor to a federal Europe and she spotted that trap. Thank god Great Britain kept their currency, to bad my country Finland did´nt.
What an amazing woman. We will never see her kind again.
How I miss her presence in government today. Today’s lot are a sorry excuse for a Conservative government … 😢
Edward Heath was a regular and constant figure in the House of Commons well after his premiership was over.
DIDNT AGREE WITH EVERYTHING SHE SAID AND DID BUT, WE COULD DO WITH HER NOW.
“Not yet, Down!” Amazing😂
If she only knew about David Miliband’s treacherous signing of the Lisbon Treaty......
And she was right.....
A trade agreement that got worse in every next draft.....
Maastricht to Lisbon..... was a serious breech of limits.....
Time for the rehabilitation of Mrs Thatcher
'Thatcher... spanking Major...'
is not an image I want in my head
A HANDBAG !! GOD SHE WAS GOOD - She was always prepared - RIP MAGGIE.
On this issue Thatcher had more in common with the Labour Bennite left of the time than with her own front bench.
Exactly. Benn was always polite and courteous toward her although very critical about the social conséquences of her policies
A political collossus! EVERY, pm, since, has been a pigmy, by, comparison!
absolutely 100% right
Very prescient - the British people never did get the chance to have a say and that has lead as she indicated to the inevitability of people turning to 'extremist parties'. UKIP.
UKIP wasn’t even that extreme, it’s going that way now though.
she was referring to the national front and the communist party who were the 2 parties opposing the EU project at that time.
A LEADER!
What would she make of Starmer 😅
She had more balls than all.the politicians put together.Better to avoid any comparison with present day people involved in politics.
Thatcher's arguments against the Euro-currency are allright. Therefore even the Labour Party and the former PM Tnoy Blair didn't abolish the British pound! In 2016 Great Britain voted to leave the European Union.
And now the UK has gone bust… LOL
Thatcher has smelled "THE STENCH OF APPEASEMENT IN THE AIR"
The original Brexiteer.
Major is a decent PM. However, there is no way to him to compare with Thatcher
I wish she'd lived to see Brexit.
One year tomorrow! Still can't believe she's gone! :((
Let me see....which PM received the most votes as leader during a GE campaign? Over 14 million of them. Mrs T? Or perhaps Tony Blair, son of Thatcher? No, the much pilloried but essentially decent John Major. More Britons voted for John Major in 1992 than voted for Mrs T in 79, 83 or 87 Perhaps some ought to keep that in mind.
Matt Davies but he lost loads of by elections and ended up losing the majority he had.
Perhaps you should keep that in mind.
The thought of Kinnock in No.10 was too horrible a prospect for people so they voted for Major even though he had the personality of a piece of cardboard.
Hear Hear!!!
Maggy, the Iron Maiden
god i love this woman ! shes defo i my eyes on par with whinston churchil
Just curious, how much power do the Lords have in comparison to the Commons?
they have more power in adding to bills.... but they cannot introduce anything. everything starts and ends in the commons. the lords can slow things down but if they go too far the commons can over rule them. it happens every few decades but not often. also the lords are not supposed to block anything that was in the winning partys manifesto... but again sometimes they have done.
The lords have the right to introduces legislation (not "money bills") but most legislation is started in the commons to make use of the Salisbury convection and Parliament act
In the session resent ended 23 bills starting in the commons and 10 bills starting in the lords were Assented to. (counting the House of Lords Reform act as commons despite it starting in the lord in previous sessions there may be others like this)
احب سماعها تتحدث حتى ولو كانت كلمات غير مفهومة لي
I cant believe how much chatter goes on when someone is speaking in the commons. How does anything get accomplished?
She sounds like the PM, still!
Visionary......UKIP rise & then Brexit.Mrs T saw it all coming
What do you think she would say now about brexit?
Daniel Swainston -
"What do you think she would say now about brexit?"
Answer:
"What took us so long ?"
Britannia suddenly looks a lot more cheerful than she has for a LONG time.................(despite all the vile traitors in our midst).
As, I'm sure, does Maggie...................................
marvinc999 well said 👍
"I told you so"? Did you hear Her mention the "People will vote for extremist Parties" if their voting rights were stripped away by Europe? I swear she had a crystal ball and could predict the future.
I'm sure her spirit is dancing in government buildings with joy!! that the UK is leaving the eu
I wish she had been PM forever

how come there are no muslim cult members in that debate
There would never have been peace in Northern Ireland while Maggie was Prime Minister.
She was a pshyco
Pity the Irish failed
Turns out she was wrong about everything.
@zeckham100 that's a joke right?
No, where you want to start her stand on apartheid, the poll tax, taking kids milk away then sending them off to war? She was evil and hopeless .
