Ray, another superb video. Oh, and "Hey Ann! Nice to see he let you into one of his videos" ;) Such dramatic scenery in every direction. The still photography really showed the amazing colors of the canyon walls too. I enjoyed every twist and turn. It was also nice to see your happy hour setup. I cant imagine a more scenic setting for relaxing at the end of the day. Best wishes to both of you, and Angie.
Ann is right about that ledge. She is a good sport, wouldn't catch me that close to the edge. That narrow road reminded me of the old Lewiston grade going into Lewiston, Idaho, only that one had many more switchbacks and lots of semi trucks on it. Always scary! Great views and nice music to go with them. Cheers! Diane
Amazing !! Utah is on my must do list. Shaffer trail is a road i have to do......I want to take a week and do as much as possible. Thank you for sharing your awesome views with me and my wife. Great video !!!
Ray, we ended up on the Dugway, by accident. We had stayed in a yurt in Mexican Hat. We left there on the way to Moab and lo and behold we found ourselves driving up the Dugway. What an experience and what a view. Safe travels. Bill Mc from SC.
10 bucks is a good deal for a few amenities. Probably 20 bucks now. We did Muley point and Moki Dugway for the first time, ca 2020 and had a great time, boondocking with few people nearby. Didn't go down to Gooseneck, so thank you for the info. We had no idea of what was there so we were amazed. We've gone through Monument Valley. You don't have to pay to drive through on the highway. You should point out Navajo Mountain. The great thing about these places is the far view and the close-up at the same time. The things you can see that make you feel the immensity of the western deserts and the fascinating life and topography beneath your feet. Like us it looks like you did the Dugway a couple times in a day!
Glad you made time to visit those beautiful places. Brought back many memories. Looking from the last picture, your heading toward Monument Valley or you just wanted a picture where Forest Gump decided to stop running and go home. Sad thing was, he turned around and went the wrong way. LOL
Very engaging work, the narration and photography are nicely done. I also found the details of road condition and campsite size a big help in planning a trip.
Wow! Loved the scenery. We were in Southern CA when you took this video. I so wanted to drive up to Monument Valley area but we didn't have time on our way home. It will have to be another trip. Thanks for sharing!
Great video Ray. We are pinning your secret spots on our Google map for next winters travels. That was different music you used on this video, curious about who it was, very pleasant sound. Happy Trails Ray and ANN. Jeff and Liz.
Thanks, I use copyright free music the TH-cam offers. In this video, I used Pickup Truck, Eagle Rock, and Sunday Stroll. th-cam.com/video/zE7lbmwhszA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/op7FsIcOh64/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ZRPBHz-fcBk/w-d-xo.html
Great video Ray, scenery is spectacular. We camped years ago in Monument Valley at a place called Gouldings. Famous place for John Wayne and his western movies. When we where there it very beautiful right in the middle of the monuments
Thanks for the memories! I spent many summers working near this area, years ago. Good to see the Moki Dugway has not been "civilized," lol. I do believe that spectacular bend in the San Juan River is Dead Horse Point. I'm glad you could spend time in this magical place.
I worked for UDOT and We were up at the top of Moki Dugway Rd. charting SR. 161 from the top back to SR. 93. I was looking down at the beginning of the road and commented to some tourist that it was a bit of scary Road; when all of a sudden an 18 wheeler loaded with Hay went flying on past us and down the dugway he went. I wouldn't want to see that coming down the road at me.
I shoot 4x5 B&W and never miss spending a few days in the park when I can. If you're looking for that shot of a lifetime, make sure you're there during a storm. Of all the prints I have made over the past 30 years in Gooseneck, the one from 2 years ago during a late spring storm is by far my favorite. The storms can be very dramatic giving you a reason to include the sky instead of focusing just on the canyons.
AWESOME video, Ray!! I think, after seeing your video, we will hit this place in late August/early September on our way back home to Florida from our Alaska trip this summer. But, after seeing your video, I don't think my wife will go on the Moki Dugway drive. LOL Thanks for sharing such a great video!
Thanks! Only problem you might face is heat, no hook up for AC and the temps that time of year can be extreme! But you are from FLA so maybe it's not hot to you like a wussy cool weather BC coaster like me. :) Cheers! Ray
I was here with family trying to take a shortcut from Oljato-Monument Valley to route 95 towards Hanksville. This route 261 is the shortcut way (and scary if you don't have good newer car) instead of taking rte 163 to route 191 then route 95 (only add 1/2 hours extra to take the safer route). I caved in and turn around, very scary with lots of loose gravels and cliffs. We took route 163 What about winter time? Anyone driving here if it is unmaintain? What about night time if someone ran into this route?
I would have to make sure my accelerator cable was well greased, steering linkage double checked and plenty of brake fluid. Amazing video! I got white knuckled just watching it. 😬🇺🇸
Speaking of rain - ever have road-spray from tires and passing cars/trucks get things wet inside your trailer? Our brand-new trailer was getting water inside - the dealer says from road-spray going up into the fridge vents (which face downward) and an imperfect seal around the unit inside (?). We'd arrive at our destination and find water on the floor, but none anywhere else. Hopefully, they've got it sealed now.
No, we have never had rain get inside even when driving in very wet weather. A few times water has stayed on the slide roof and when we pull it in has made the floor wet, but that's about it.
10% grades...Yikes!...it'd be nice to have a Jake brake on your pickup truck! After 38 years of professional truck driving those kind of grades I have NO use for! But, in a four wheeler it may not be that bad though. Great video as always! Beautiful country! Thanks for taking us along, Ray!
It wasn't too bad, I don't have a Jake brake but with 4.10 rear end ratio, I can just leave the truck in second gear and hardly have to tap the brakes, just coasts down. My main worry was oncoming vehicles. Lots of scared tourists. ;) You're welcome, sure is purdy country.
Just beautiful scenery. Great camera work. I was getting a little scared on the drive up. Bet it was scarier in the actual truck... Putting these places on our bucket list.
Thanks! It's not too bad as I'm used to logging roads in the mountains back in BC. I was only nervous of the folks coming the other way thinking to myself they could be tourists that have never driven on such a road. :)
Hi Ray great video. I am a fellow full timer living in my 24' class C however thinking about going to a fifth wheel. I am concerned about the additional length so was wandering if you could do a video on how you pull in and out gas stations, which stations you prefer, how much preplanning you do, what to watch out for, etc. There's really not much out there on YT. Thanks
Thanks for the video idea, I'll add it to my todo list. The beauty of a trailer is the truck can be filled up beforehand or even unhitch close by and go in and fill. Our truck has dual diesel tanks and we can go about 300 miles between fillups. I use satellite maps sometimes to scope out fuel stops to check access. If you get a diesel truck then you can go where semis go and you know for sure access is good. Get good at backing up and if you travel with someone else train them as a spotter. A few times we have been jammed up in a fuel stop over the years but my wife guides me to back it out. For the most part, though we don't have too many problems find stations we can get in out of. Here are a few posts I published that may help out - www.loveyourrv.com/fifth-wheel-travel-trailer-towing-tips/ www.loveyourrv.com/back-fifth-wheel-trailer/ www.loveyourrv.com/lubing-my-fifth-wheel-trailer/ Cheers! Thanks. Not this trip through but, we went to VoG a few years ago and camped. Here is the link to my blog post and video, it's a gorgeous spot! www.loveyourrv.com/boondocking-fun-in-the-valley-of-the-gods-utah/
great vid ray always look forward to them . I noticed in every vid you flag is flying proud have you ever considered a small wind generator as an option for power .I have a small one on our 32 foot rig and it works great would love some feed back from a full time traveler
I've decided against one for the cost, setup time (we move around a lot) and noise factor, I imagine they hum. If I needed more power I'd add another solar panel, still lots of room left on the roof.
Ray- I really appreciate the GPS running at bottom when you use the drive footage ... That way, when I see a spot that you are at, I have the gps... perfect, then I load it into my gps... and I am there next time! Thanks!
Ray, What type of camera are you doing your video's with? How long can you film with it? I like your video's and helpful suggestions. I wish I had your knowledge where I could do my own solar.
It's a few years old Sony Camcorder with the flash memory card of 32G I can record for over and hour. - www.loveyourrv.com/love-your-rv-photo-and-video-creation-tools/ Cheers! Ray
You were so close! At the top of the dugway, drive down a while until you see Cigarette Springs Rd on your right. Sign is posted, can't remember how far the drive is maybe 20 minutes? Anyway, Fallen Roof Ruins is an easy hike and the ruins are up on the left maybe 100 feet up, keep an eye out. Great light in the early morning otherwise it's washed out (for pics). Then when you get back on the road, turn right and you'll hit 95. Make a right and look for the House On Fire ruins trailhead. Another easy hike down a riverbed(watch for occasional rattlesnake) and the ruins are on your right just at a big bend about 20 feet off riverbed. Also great light before say 11am (earlier is best). These are 2 easy hikes and you were within 40 miles(maybe) of them both. House on Fire ruins do not "pop" with fiery red as some images show on the internet, that's "greatly" exaggerated. Neither place should be missed and honestly, you'll enjoy them and the hike. House on Fire gets a lot of people but they seem to start later in the AM than I always have. By 10 you've got more than a few friends there making it difficult to get images without people in them.
great video, nice to see ann coming out to visit, although i wouldn't sit that close to the edge. love your flag pole, makes it so easy to find your way back, do you have a link to where i can buy one. thanks for all you do very much appreciated. dont head north too quick its still cold up there. ed from fla

Really enjoying the boon docking vids. We have been to some of the same places just recently in the southwest. Leaving in a couple weeks to head to Alaska slowly through Oregon and Washington through the Canada. Any advice traveling through Canada?
Not too much other than good donuts and coffee at a chain called Tim Hortons, they are everywhere, plus usually free WiFi and a store called Canadian Tire is good for picking up automotive and hardware stuff. Not sure of your RV size but if small enough to get off road a good info resource for the backcountry are - www.backroadmapbooks.com/backcountry-maps/backroad-mapbooks/bc-backroad-maps Cheers Ray
There is another route but it is quite a trip around through Blanding and back - goo.gl/maps/GuuS9Q6sDRy Muley Point is down a road just past the top of Moki Dugway.
haha, we passed a few little cars, but everyone is taking it slow. They kinda froze and I drove past them. I'm pretty used to these type of roads. We have lots of logging roads like this back in BC
A fellow Canadian, I have been subscribed for over a year and I think this is the first time we have had more than a glimpse of the famous Anne. At the end, are they Anne's pictures? Does she have a photo album somewhere? How do you find the dually for maneuvering in places like this? Did you ever wish for a small Jeep behind a Class A instead?
haha, she has been in a few others. :) All the pics I post are mine, except for a few that I'm in. She has her own separate pro photography website at annemckinnell.com/ I'm quite used to the dually so not a problem, I'd like to get a 4x4 truck when Blue packs it in versus a Class A and Jeep. Here is why we went with a fifth wheel - www.loveyourrv.com/10-reasons-why-we-chose-a-fifth-wheel-trailer/ Cheers Ray
I had to back up part of a mile at one point to let another truck go by when we made that drive. That drive can be traumatic to some people. Understandably so. Ray, I wish I could email my 16" telescope to you. I've had it out west a few times and the views from those dark skies and elevations are like astrophotographs. And, there are a series of books called, "Roadside Geology" that are good travel companions. Each book covers a state and it's hwys. The chapters describe the geology you are seeing around you, mile by mile. Enjoy your travels & thanks for taking us along.
Cool! Skies were amazing, we had a few clear nights. I could tell a few of the drivers were nervous, they would sort of freeze and let me by. I'm pretty used to these types of roads having traveled the backcountry logging roads on Vancouver Island. Only on the logging roads at any time a giant logging truck can show up. Now that will pucker you up on a narrow road with a drop-off. :)
No, I look at it as the risk we take to live the life, we have insurance. I haven't had a problem in almost 7 years. Likely there is more chance of break-ins leaving it parked in a driveway or at an RV Park in a city than way out in the country. A lot more thieves around. Cheers!
Moki Moe key Don't pull a trailer up or down that. Close to Lake Powell after climbing Moki. Also Combe Wash not far .. great area. Shhhh don't tell anyone. San Juan River dumps into Lake Powell (Colorado River)
I have a question Ray. so as you know the cost of new trucks are rediculous. I've never heard you complain about yours. and it's definatly not new. so how many miles do you have on it. and what kind of maintenance do you perform on it to keep it lasting. maybe even a short write up on it would be cool! thanks Ray
It has about 165,000 now, very reliable 7.3 diesel, we put in anywhere from $2000 - $4000 in yearly parts and maintenance. All the usual stuff tires, oil changes, water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, glow plugs, cooling system, exhaust system, brakes, tranny, etc etc Here is a post about the truck - www.loveyourrv.com/big-baby-blue-1994-ford-f350-truck/
Yes, the places aren't too far from Mexican Hat, Bluff and Blanding, which have fuel stations. The area is heavily traveled by tourists as its part of the Utah Grand Circle route
That was shot with my old HDR-CX190 Sony Camcorder. I've since upgraded it to a better model, the Sony FDR-AX53 - www.loveyourrv.com/love-your-rv-gets-a-new-4k-camcorder-sony-fdr-ax53/ Cheers, Ray
There are lots of subtle differences but nothing major. We share a lot of the same culture. It's hard to generalize "USA" or "Canada" since both are so large there are differences right inside each country state to state province to province. IE. Utah is much different than Louisiana. Newfoundland is different than Saskatchewan.
I can't remember buy Muley Point is a well known attraction, even marked on Google Maps so not hard to locate goo.gl/maps/RGLEmCEPqZaa9HweA Cheers, Ray

You're best bet from Moab is down thru Blanding and Bluff. Good highways and not too bad of grades. Hwy 191 to just past Bluff then 163 to the Goosenecks goo.gl/maps/RH6d1arCS7M2 Cheers, Ray
Thanks. Such a beautiful area, wish we could visit longer but have to make tracks north soon.
Your camera work is superb, narration not to shabby either. Love every second.
Awesome scenery, you wouldn't want to have too many happy hour drinks being seated so close to the cliff edge. We enjoyed it, thanks.
haha, yeah that's for sure!
Thank very much for sharing this video , next time I will go there ! I loved Monument Valley and it is not far !!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. We sure enjoy your adventures.
Hi Ray! My first comment...first let me say we LOVE your videos! We are at gooseneck state park because of you😁. Parked right on the edge of beauty .
Awesome! :)
Outrageously beautiful and wildly intimidating! Thanks for sharing...
Cheers! Diane
The road around Crater Lake NP Oregon is pretty scary, lots of drop offs with no guard rails and very narrow.
Thanks!
Amazing !! Utah is on my must do list. Shaffer trail is a road i have to do......I want to take a week and do as much as possible. Thank you for sharing your awesome views with me and my wife. Great video !!!
One of our favorite parts of Utah.
Great video Ray. Thanks for sharing your drive up to Muley Point. Your happy hour seats were the best in the house. Cheers!
Yes, front row! :)
Love your videos! So relaxing yet informative. Nice to see Angie. Please keep them coming.
Thank you Roger, will do. :) Cheers! Ray
Well, again, that was just like being there. Thanks for the front row seat.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful views that this country has to offer. You should put more of your beautiful Ann it them though in the future.
3 years ago , now we are confined because this pandemia! It seems the world has stopped !!!Nice to see this video confined TKS
Thanks Ray and Ann, another awesome video and one of the best places to get to camp!
That's amazing. You wouldn't catch me so close to the edge!
nice to see you Ann great video Ray

My RV GPS was beeping like mad thinking I was towing the rig, saying don't go! haha
Awesome video. On my to do list now. We camped in Moab and I loved it there. This September we’re headed to the Paiute trails. Love Utah.

Moki Dugway is a nice piece of road and Muley Point is a great place for some pictures . Yes, South East Utah is a Great place to be .
Great job on the video, one of your best productions.
It's now on my list for March 2019. I can't freakin' wait.
You're getting really good at this!! Keep em coming Ray.
Outstanding & amazing video shots. You were sitting to close to the edge for me. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely loving your videos Ray! Your tips, suggestions and reviews are the best! Thanks Ray!
Great to hear. :) You're welcome
Glad you made time to visit those beautiful places. Brought back many memories. Looking from the last picture, your heading toward Monument Valley or you just wanted a picture where Forest Gump decided to stop running and go home. Sad thing was, he turned around and went the wrong way. LOL
haha, yeah, never thought of that.
what a great view I could spend many many hours just looking thank you I really enjoyed this video along with all the rest of yours.

Well done. Love the drive and music.
Great video Ray, scenery is spectacular. We camped years ago in Monument Valley at a place called Gouldings. Famous place for John Wayne and his western movies. When we where there it very beautiful right in the middle of the monuments

I think Dead Horse Point is up by Moab and is the Colorado River.

WOW, beautiful Ray, thanks for nice Vedic, I love they, good job
Weather there sure looks better than the record wet rainy season we're having here in Western Oregon.
Hope you get that rain all done with before I head back next month. :)

Thanks for posting the info. Hope to get back there someday. Cheers, Ray
great video, nice to see ann coming out to visit, although i wouldn't sit that close to the edge. love your flag pole, makes it so easy to find your way back, do you have a link to where i can buy one. thanks for all you do very much appreciated. dont head north too quick its still cold up there. ed from fla
I picked it up at an RV show in Quartzsite a few years ago but they are on Amazon - www.loveyourrv.com/fun-rv-tip-get-flag/
what kind of camera are you using I have all kinds and I can never seem to get shots in focus like you are. great videos.
Sony camcorder for motion video and Sony still camera - www.loveyourrv.com/love-your-rv-photo-and-video-creation-tools/
I also have a Garmin Dashcam - www.loveyourrv.com/my-new-rving-gadget-the-garmin-dash-cam-20/
Cheers! Ray
Not sure of your RV size but if small enough to get off road a good info resource for the backcountry are - www.backroadmapbooks.com/backcountry-maps/backroad-mapbooks/bc-backroad-maps
Cheers Ray
Great, Thanks!
Nice video! So one question.. Is the only way down Moki Dugway the same way you come up? It looks like Muley Point is at the end of Moki Dugway....
There is another route but it is quite a trip around through Blanding and back - goo.gl/maps/GuuS9Q6sDRy
Muley Point is down a road just past the top of Moki Dugway.
Wow. beautiful. But I'm really scared of heights. Good thing you didn't meet someone else coming down or up the Dugway...LOL
haha, we passed a few little cars, but everyone is taking it slow. They kinda froze and I drove past them. I'm pretty used to these type of roads. We have lots of logging roads like this back in BC
Sweet Moses if you are the nervous type .. you were pretty high at points.
She has her own separate pro photography website at annemckinnell.com/
I'm quite used to the dually so not a problem, I'd like to get a 4x4 truck when Blue packs it in versus a Class A and Jeep. Here is why we went with a fifth wheel - www.loveyourrv.com/10-reasons-why-we-chose-a-fifth-wheel-trailer/ Cheers Ray
Another awesome video. It would have been fun to use a drone.
Thanks
Hello Ray, love your videos. One question, have you ever had any problems leaving your fiver? Vandil or theft or anything like that?
No, I look at it as the risk we take to live the life, we have insurance. I haven't had a problem in almost 7 years. Likely there is more chance of break-ins leaving it parked in a driveway or at an RV Park in a city than way out in the country. A lot more thieves around. Cheers!
Moki Moe key Don't pull a trailer up or down that. Close to Lake Powell after climbing Moki. Also Combe Wash not far .. great area. Shhhh don't tell anyone. San Juan River dumps into Lake Powell (Colorado River)
Thanks. :)
Love Goosenecks
Wow!!
thanks for the tour my turn is coming ( enjoying life priceless)
Was that Shiprock (New Mexico) in the background you were pointing at @4:00?
No, it was one of the rocks in Monument Valley - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_Valley
All the usual stuff tires, oil changes, water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, glow plugs, cooling system, exhaust system, brakes, tranny, etc etc
Here is a post about the truck - www.loveyourrv.com/big-baby-blue-1994-ford-f350-truck/
Awesome! Thank you so much!
For all the views, must put on a lot of miles. Are there sufficient has stations?
Yes, the places aren't too far from Mexican Hat, Bluff and Blanding, which have fuel stations. The area is heavily traveled by tourists as its part of the Utah Grand Circle route
So THAT'S Ann!
we have a truck and camper so in this case we leave the home behind and take our jeep we tow... for this little drive..
What camera you use to take this video.?? Thanks!!
That was shot with my old HDR-CX190 Sony Camcorder. I've since upgraded it to a better model, the Sony FDR-AX53 - www.loveyourrv.com/love-your-rv-gets-a-new-4k-camcorder-sony-fdr-ax53/ Cheers, Ray
So Ray, wondering, when you travel through the US do you feel like you're in another country or just visiting your brother's house?
There are lots of subtle differences but nothing major. We share a lot of the same culture.
It's hard to generalize "USA" or "Canada" since both are so large there are differences right inside each country state to state province to province. IE. Utah is much different than Louisiana. Newfoundland is different than Saskatchewan.
Love Your RV Yeah, one thing I've noticed in Canada is more of a sense of "community" than many parts of the US.
Wow!
Your great
A little close the edge eh?
Yikes!!! I would need a harness to sit that close
Is Muley Point marked on the road so you know where to turn?
I can't remember buy Muley Point is a well known attraction, even marked on Google Maps so not hard to locate goo.gl/maps/RGLEmCEPqZaa9HweA Cheers, Ray
Wow👍🏻
What musicians are playing starting around 12:00 in?
In this video, I used treacks called Pickup Truck, Eagle Rock, and Sunday Stroll.

What were the roads like getting there? Narrow? Steep?
From where to where?
lol, Sorry, We were considering going from moab to Goosenecks.
But say rt 316 leading into the park from 261 or 163. Not sure which way you guys went in
You're best bet from Moab is down thru Blanding and Bluff. Good highways and not too bad of grades. Hwy 191 to just past Bluff then 163 to the Goosenecks
goo.gl/maps/RH6d1arCS7M2 Cheers, Ray
Thank you very much Ray! That is what I needed to know! :) love your videos by the way
A million years ago that must have been some wild river.
Try a few hundred million years.
them there roads were built by giant ancient Aliens so they walk to the quarry
my wife would freak
