    loved watching your videos. We put the videos on the large tv screen and my husband and I sit back and watch a couple at a time. We are planning on getting a rig and head out. We have done a lot of travelling in Europe but feel as long as we are breathing we want to travel the beautiful parks and lands of the US, Alaska and Canada. I love the walks on top of the paths. I have to admit I love your dog but on this trip I almost had a heart attack watching on top of those trails, you have a lot of guts. I was stunned how narrow those paths were and how good you both were doing. Thanks for all the beautiful pictures and video. Keep up the good job and we will be watching

      I'm lucky to be agile and have good balance. There is no way Anne would go out there. She had a look and turned back. :)

      Used to like Living Forest and have stayed in the past but last fall my wife's mountain bike got ripped off right out of the campsite, lock cut. Kinda has soured us on the place now.

      I know theft is away up now compared to 50 years ago.
      I will have a lock up area for our $ 2,000.00 bikes.
      At home north of Toronto you have to shed the bikes and lock with a security light and leave the bike inside at work.
      Drug addicts,sociopaths or this economy are the cause our a lack of parenting and values.
      Even my bank stole $ 6,000 in fake mortgage insurance and I caught them.

      I lived in Victoria for 40+ years, low-level crime has gotten really bad there in the last few decades, same with Nanaimo, lots of homeless and druggies wandering around. facebook.com/groups/stealingnanaimo/

      Maybe they need a nice boat ride half way to Vancouver.....LOL
      I worked some Law Enforcement so I won't hesitate to detain and arrest.
      Thanks for the heads up on crime in the park.
      Any issues in Arizona or that area besides slab Meth Junkie ?

    nice to see you in my neck of the woods! I've driven past that angel peak sign a bunch of time when me and my family are going between Albuquerque and Durango for vacation, and I was always curious about what what back there. I think we will add it to the lists of places to visit. Safe travels back north as it warms up.

    You are correct it is called Angel Peak because at one time the rock looked like an Angel but with time and wind has eroded it. Also just a tip the roads are very very slick when it rains. That dirt is clay like and turns very dangerous when wet worse than ice. Last tip to give you is the fact that to the locals this place is sacred just like Shiprock. We ask that you please be courteous pick up your trash, cigarette butts and please do not carve on the rocks ! Thank You. Oh and there are coyotes around !

    Love watching your location overviews you find some great places..
    What sized rigs would work here? Road quality? Turn arounds etc!!
    40+ foot coaches? large 5th Wheels? 4WD only?
    Actually would be good if you reviews you suggested Max size rigs that they would suit. A "score system or something would help bigger (and smaller) rig people Just a thought..

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never driven a 40+ foot coach or large fifth wheel so can't offer advice like that. I can only let folks know that I went there in my 30-foot fifth wheel pulled by our 2WD truck. I'd hate to rate a place safe for a large rig and have people get into a predicament.
      People's level of risk varies wildly. Some are far more adventurous going off road that others so it's impossible for me to judge.
      I did show the road and commented on its condition and drove through and videoed all the turnouts and mentioned the campground is a loop drive. Cheers Ray

      Most of it was easy, there are a few narrows pots but not that bad. I saw a few younger families take their kids. Of course, if you're not sure footed or scared of heights it's a different story. ;)

    I grew up here. Early in the morning about sunrise the silhouette of the peak used to look like an angle but later part of the wing collapsed from erosion and gravity. The peak is higher than it looks from the campgrounds and can be seen from a good distance. While going to school I could see Angel Peak from inside the library on the second floor at San Juan College in Farmington about 20 miles away and it did look like a silhouette of an angle early in the morning.

    This is one of my favorite places for solitude and great sunsets! We haven't had any problem getting our truck and fifth wheel into the area. It doesn't look like much from hwy 550 but then down the access road you have this big surprise vista. We went down into the canyon badlands and "got" to drive around for about an hour in the maze of roads. You are correct - don't depend on your GPS. We are in the Albuquerque area, and always stop for lunch in Cuba at El Bruno's on our way up. If you are going to hike, be sure to let someone know where you are hiking. Some of the footing is precarious and you wouldn't be found for a good while if you slid down into the canyon and injured yourself. There are no established trails except for in the campground.

    Ray, another great scenic review of a beautiful location. Funny how from the highway turnoff, it didn't look like much. Fairly flat and seemingly uninteresting. Then as you get back into the area, it all opens up into a spectacular vista. Your video was wonderful... and your wife's photos of you and Angie on the ridge in the distance provided the perfect summation of the experience. Great work by all three of you!

    I enjoy your videos, but the cheesy organ/electric guitar music that you use to accompany some parts is annoying. Why don't you use music that suits the scene, or better yet, leave it out altogether. There is no way that dated 'lite rock' music is compatible with this natural beauty.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like dated lite rock, just like me. When it comes to music you can't please everyone, thanks for the feedback though. The reason I use it is its royalty-free so I don't have to shell out money to play it or worry about copyright infringement.
      Unfortunately, that severely limits my choice. You could always hit mute.

    Hi again. Nice views. Isn't it against RV etiquette for that fifth wheel to set up right next to you, when there are so many empty spots in other areas? Or maybe some prefer neighbors for safety reasons?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be in a large open area but this was a developed campground with limited large and/or level sites and ones with a view so totally acceptable as far as I was concerned. But your right seems to me like some like to be close to others to feel safe.
      Cheers, Ray

    Lol your GPS was trying to get you in trouble by going on the roads down on the bottom. i know that area by heart, I used to work on those well location by your camp and down around Angel peak. there are some ruins to the north east of your camp site but it would have been a good hike to get to them and they are hard to find.

    Are there any campgrounds within say 25 miles of these areas that you stay in, beautiful scenery my rig is not set-up for boondocking have a generator onboard, would having a portable set of panels get you by for a couple of days being that you won't be using ac. Thanks keep the coming

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there usually are. Good that you have the generator. My advice is to first try and add extra batteries if they can fit then solar. Cheers! Ray

    • @driftersden4439

      Looking into stacking two more batteries in the compartment next the generator where the original one is located, I added a second and maybe section off a part of my storage bay for all solar components and batteries.

    When I look this up on Allstays it says tents only, no RV's. Did any of the signs indicate this? You are braver than I am, driving down those dirt roads where you can't see what might be ahead and no signs to tell you.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, there are very few signs or posted rules, you can always phone the BLM office in Farmington for info. Two years ago I talked to the BLM ranger for the area. He actually patrols the entire northwest corner of New Mexico. He told me it was OK to RV camp there and in the Bisti Badlands parking lot. I had stopped to get info at the Farmington office and he came up to us in his ranger truck and helped us with details and road conditions. He said if someone was going to kick us out it was him. :)
      Basically, the campsites are set up for tents only but have parking spots, some bigger than others. So it's a matter of if you can fit the rig in a parking spot and get her level. Cheers! Ray

    Didn't know they had bad lands in NM. Great video, with some really nice photos. If its Valley of the Gods, don't forget Mokey Dugway and Muley Point. Both with in a couple miles of Valley of the Gods.

    Please please be careful and I don't agree that your dog should be put at risk on some of those trails. ..with respect...chucky

      It's not as bad as it looks on video unless you have a fear of heights. Families with little kids were hiking it. - AllTrails rates it dog-friendly and kid-friendly - www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-mexico/angel-peak

      I've thought about it, but being Canadain I'm not sure of the licensing to use one while I'm in the US, could be a hassle, plus I find them annoying personally so would hate to bother others with it. They seem to be getting banned everywhere. Do you know of any quiet ones? To me, they sound like a swarm of bees. :)

    Planning on visiting here next week off a recommendation from a park ranger here in New Mexico. Do you think this road would be okay to drive for a passenger car?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say, being a dirt road it changes all the time, 4 years ago I would say yes, but who knows the current state of it now. :)

    Love your videos. We will be heading that way later this year . As one BC traveller to another,, how do you find the cost of travel health insurance for the over 65 ? specially as you are in the States for at least 3 months.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I can't comment on that since I'm 53 and my wife is 49. We pay around $400 each for 6 months with a $1000 deductible through BCAA. Thankfully we have never had to use it.
