You know, I’m living proof that with the right exercises and a regular regime, you will improve greatly. I have bone on bone, have had over two months of physical therapy exercises and doing them at home. It has been amazing. I’ve watched Dr. David for all of this time and I’m thankful to say I’m not looking at replacement any time soon. Thank you so very much!

I just found your channel because of a severe osteoarthritis arthritis diagnosis and wanted to know what I could do to help my situation before going to see an orthopedic surgeon.
I did the exercise where you sit and let your leg dangle and you swing each one back and forward and my knees felt so much better. I can walk better. Thank you God for this channel.

As has been said many times on this thread, your videos have been life changing for me. After one knee replacement I was beginning to have problems with the other and my Dr said I needed another new knee. Thank God I found your video series. After one year of following your “butt muscle” exercises I am now about 90% well ad still improving. Often I can go a whole day without any kind of knee pain. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your knowledge on this channel. God bless you!

Your videos are changing my whole perspective on knee replacement. I have been doing the first 5 exercises you recommend on another video, trying to stay off sugar and high carbs, concentrating on posture and walking right and getting the extra pounds off. It has been several weeks and I definitely feel improvement in my knees that have advanced OA.. I have been taking natural supplements for knee pain for the past month or so that also seem to help. Furtunately I am retired and have the time for all the exercising and then resting. One thing that really helped me was when you stressed not to overdo it with stretching. I did overdo it a couple of times and was set back in my progress. Your methods are practical with common sense explanations. Thank you!

Love your philosophy as it is so close to mine . I am a rose gardener for many decades and have bone on bone in my wrists but no pain as the thin coating of synovial fluid allows bones to slide without pain .
I tore a meniscus in my knee and not as lucky as I did not strengthen surrounding muscles and other knee became involved with pain an Achilles heel flare up . Your exercises have helped a lot after the fact and hope to use other muscle groups especially glutes to take strain off inner knee pain … motion is lotion and I still work 40 hours in rose garden per week approaching 74 years old and hope to continue with your expertise
    without surgery!

Thank you Dr. David! I’ve been diagnosed with stage 2-4 OA with meniscal tears, etc. in both knees. I have lived with bone on bone traumatic arthritis in my ankle my entire adult life. I also have a 2” leg length difference for 50+ years. I’ve never been overweight. I was active all through life (until very recently). After OA diagnosis I felt hopeless. I began listening to you and regained hope. I took your knee program and learned so much! My left knee is great! I’m now working through more challenges with the right knee. I follow my PT’s training but modify according to your recommendations. I was told not to walk at all by a chiropractor…🤦‍♀️ What do you think about walking in sand? Walking backwards?

I live in Uk 🇬🇧 and you have described my life! I’m am so glad your channel popped up when I was searching exercise for spinal stenosis. I have type 2 diabetes and it is frustrating as I want to move more but the stenosis was preventing me walking my dogs for more than half an hour without heavy medication. I also have been diagnosed (mri scan) with knee osteoarthritis and meniscus tear in my right knee and the inner half having very little cartilage. I thought I was done for but now I have hope in following your exercises for the stenosis and knee pain. It is also disturbing my sleep as the pain in my knee wakes me up several times a night 😢 Thank you 🙏🏻😘

I have had knee pain for 23 years. I walk everyday using my medication and incorporated 10-15 minutes of backwards walking. In just three workouts I was able to sleep without pain in my hip and knee. I wish I had never had surgery for my torn meniscus because it never helped me. I used to beg to have a knee replacement but they said I was too young. It seems that they do have to be replaced eventually so now I am glad I never did it. I miss not being able to play racquetball and basketball.

You are not done for, believe me on that. About 1 week into the knee exercies I began feeling 50% relief, with occassional discomfort going from sit to stand and going up and down stairs. After about 2 months of exercise strengthening the glutes my knees are 99% better (a little crunching sound but I can live with that.)
I live in a walking town, with mass transit. You can't access a subway without steps. I wanted to cry at every flight of stairs. To avoid the steps, I would walk on flat ground as far as I could (it didn't help much) then bite the bullet and plop my way down the stairs. Even stepping on and off the curb I was hesitant expecting the pain. I am now pain free.
I know everyone is different, but as I read the comments of so many other, I figured what have I got to loose. When I looked at the exercises NOT to do, no wonder I had knee pain, my quads were OVERLY developed with matching knee pain. Follow the exercises and you should find a noted difference in less knee pain. To show you where I started, I would do the glute and clam exercises in bed before I got up. It has been a game changer in mobility, function and quality of life - for the better. All the best!!!

you probably won't feel the glutes right away doing clams because the muscles are so weak. You know what really helped me, working on glutes first thing. I did squeezes in my bed as soon as I woke up (after the bathroom -lol) Laying on my back, I squeezed my glutes tightly for 30 seconds - 10 times. I did this every morning to get it into the muscle memory. No stress on my knees, and my quads were pretty much relaxed. I could feel the muscle isolation.
I used the timer on my phone until I could feel 30 seconds. As time went on, I did glute squeezing throughout the day: waiting on line at the store, standing at the sink washing the dishes, waiting for the bus. (I played a game to see if I could squeeze until the bus came - lol. Of course I couldn't but I was still exercising. Not before long, I could feel the difference going from sit to stand and steps became less taxing until now, I don't give them a second thought as my glutes go to work.
Give it a try, trust yourself you will see/feel the difference. Stay on it. All the best!:👍

Hello Doctor, I like to thank you for your physiotherapy advice, explanations and exercise videos. Your skill and professionalism eliminated my knee pain that I was suffering from since Sept. 2021,
I have Kaiser Insurance, and if I had visited my physician, he would have referred me to a physiotherapist, but because of Corona Virus and now Omicron, I refrained from visiting my physician. The dangling /swing knee exercise was a miracle in taking the pain away from my right knee which had debilitated me in last three months. My knee is still in the process of healing; but I have no pain. I think the cause of pain was a minor meniscus tear or irritation.
I watch your videos and greatly appreciate your efforts in helping and informing your viewers. You will be blessed always.

I wish I had met you 40 years ago before all the damage was done! 😢. I am 45 and about to have a double hip replacement due to years of arthritis and severe damage and now both my hips, knees and elbows especially all now need replacing. I go to the gym twice a week to strengthen my joints and I swim 1-2 times also to help them plus physio at home and in the pool. I found your videos by doing some research on hip replacement and you got me intrigued. I am going to try some of the exercises but obviously within the range of my joint ability. I know I will have a life of pain later in life but hopefully after the replacement I will be able to enjoy my next 20/30 years + without as much pain. But I will still continue to watch and see what you suggest and try them :) x

Took me to A/E Settled about 24 hrs. 3 months later happened again. Resolved again. Hasn't happened since following your advice. It was something like a piece of string moving in my knee. What caused that? It was on the inner knee anterior side.

Dr. David, thanks again for this information ! I DID go to a local Manual PT, let them read my MRI, and since I'm walking without much pain (meaning, the right lateral knee became the issue due to miniscus tears). However, he encouraged me to return for specific exercises around the knee area. I have to avoid twisting my right knee to the right, which hasn't been a problem for me. I eat well and go to the gym; however, my own diagnosis is that "sky diving" years ago, having to swing both feet to the right before hitting the ground, may have been the beginning of the "root problem", etc. Or not. Anyway, thanks a million !

Hi Kathryn, We appreciate you mentioning this! Many individuals share the belief that surgery is the only way to find relief from pain, and it's completely understandable why they might think that way. Sadly, not all healthcare providers are familiar with the benefits of manual physical therapy, leading them to consider surgery as the default solution.
While surgery can indeed offer relief in some cases, it's important to acknowledge that it's not a guaranteed fix. We've worked with many individuals who have experienced unsuccessful surgeries, which can be disheartening. That's why we strongly believe in addressing the root cause of the issue, which often involves addressing muscle imbalances.

I liked your video, but I wish you would have gone into some specifics on diet and excersise.

Hi Dr David. Your videos have helped me. Two questions. Can knee OA make your whole leg ache including the foot and ankle? Also can cold damp weather make OA hurt worse?

      Hey James! Great questions!
Yes, knee OA can make your whole leg hurt at times if you're very flared up in your knee. The joint stiffness in the knee can bother the foot and ankle because of the mechanical disruption of motion.
When it gets cold, the barometric pressure outside typically drops and pain nerves in arthritic joints may over-react causing more pain.
