Hey, don't worry about making a video about a game you didn't finish. Bethesda didn't finish it either.
Based
And this was with Microsoft's QA team breathing down their necks for like a year too
Zing
@@1wayroad935 pretty sure MS QA team was like "It's Todd late to change anything imporatant just ship it."
That's because they expect modders to finish it instead
Capcom: mods are bad, akin to cheats
Bethesda: dear lord, save our game with mods
EnaiSion: aw shit here we go again
Bethesda: But only if you pay for them.
also capcom: yea so we like, don't have any cheat protection in our online games

Jack my guy, the random tangents you start like explaining the "RPG Family Tree" with Looking Glass etc is exactly why i love your content, even knowing most of that stuff you are the only person talking about it on reactions, similar to your physics explainations etc :D
Same. There's that conversation about "what reactors bring to reactions", mostly acting extra and pogging. I swear I've learned and had actually interesting insight from Jack.
@@wetzel4806 I love it when reactors goes away and let their chair do the reactions for them while the video babysit the chatters.
I agree, he does good gaming specific insights that serve as good reminders
One could argue Who Killed Captain Alex is one of the best films not just in Ugandan cinema but in history.
Who Killed Captain Alex is a better video game than Starfield.
As a Bengali I'm so happy that Seth could live out his life as a Bangladeshi man. Starfield truly makes dreams come true.
"Almost screamed like a teenager girl"
Completely understandable, Jack.
Hearing you talk about the evolution of RPG storytelling reminded me of a joke from Zero Punctuation and how John Romero got funding for Daikatana 'presumably by walking into the office, saying "Hello, I made Doom and Quake" and rubbing his fingers together'.
Hahaha, what a power move
Jack understanding most of the jokes and feeling that this is not really a good sign is literally me.
I'm starting to question my life after these thoughts.
7:23 My man has a signed poster from Wakaliwood Captain Alex hooly Chad. That movie is awesome.
EDIT: And it's only 14,99 on their official store 🤣
I don't understand how Bethesda took same engine they use for 15 years, removed any advancements they did in FO4 (like occasional elevators that were not loading screens) and made a game in a brand new universe that is not constricted by previous titles and is somehow the blandest universe they ever created. I swear to god if they released just the ship building and space combat and slightly refined it and released it for 40 bucks that would be a better game than Starfield for half the budget.
Because Microsoft rushed them not to finish the game but polish it because MS wanted the most polished Bethesda game to date. So basically we got more polish but less stuff. Why do you think Phil Spencer was shit talking Starfield? It's because he knew it would be like this.
Their old universes aren't constricted by previous titles, they're propped up by them. All the talented writers that created that wonderful world building quit ages ago.
@@MajesticsTwelve
Huh? Citation needed.
Bethesda hasn't made a finished game since, at least, Morrowind.
An unfinished but polished game is Baldur's Gate 3. Starfield is just bad.
Bad ideas.
Bad technology.
Bad execution.
It didn't have a dark edge or humor, two things that made previous BGS titles so interesting.
@@Bladezeromus Phil Spencer mentioned it in the video describing the current state of Xbox. Also I feel as though saying Bethesda has never made a finished game since Morrowind is as big a reach as saying Stalin was secretly Hitler just wearing a hat. A few bugs, or even gamebreaking bugs to my and presumably your dismay don't equal an unfinished game, as they are playable start to finish. Take Metal Gear Solid V for example. That game is literally unfinished. It's missing it's final mission and epilogue. Compare that to Starfield which is just boring and dull. Unfortunately boring and dull doesn't mean the game is unfinished.
The history on RPG writing was really informative. Keep doing that please.
"He has a lot of chinese art"
As a fan of Frank Frazetta, that one hurt.
Interesting to think that star citizen removes the loading screens but forces you to actually take off and fly that thing without any assistance. I thin Elite Dangerous' docking computer is a solid middleground between the two styles, you still need to fly and land plances, but you can automate the process with a cost.
Only watch you from time to time so I didn't know you actually had a kid now. Congrats and wish you all the best!
"No shame here, We are doing this for *Science.* "
xD
The poster from Sset's gallery with "i don't need therapy, i need to go to România" caught me off guard.
showed that video to my dad, he's one of those Bethesda fan boys, I've never heard him laugh that loud before
Bro, you make the best reaction videos ever. Rly appreciated, the content is sublime
22:40 - Impossible. The Skyrim 'Unofficial Patch' was out before they made their first re-release of that game, some of the errors in the first version of that patch *are still in the game* today despite multiple releases of it. Despite it giving them an itemized list of what they need to fix. At this point, I can only conclude that they deliberately avoid fixing anything they've seen the modders fix. Possibly out of spite.
Same for FO4, I know multiple modders of that with direct contact to people at Bethesda that've emailed them step by step instructions to fix stuff. Hell, there's Paid Creation Club stuff for fo4 that literally breaks the main quest of the game, has since it was released, and they never fixed it.
Just wanted to say I've been binging some of your reactions, and you're great for adding in relevant and interesting commentary. Keep it up!
Interesting points made about how post skyrim games had trash writing bc of different teams.
You earned a sub, my man.
Jack: "Sorry because my comments were long"
Me: "Bitch, I want longer comments naaaaw!!!"
Jack, did you follow the Star Citizen Celebration this year. They are already in the polishing of Squadron 42. The singleplayer campaign of the Game. It will only take maybe 2-3 years. :D
Edit: Joke aside. The Trailers they had on the Citizen Con. this year were pretty awesome.
Dude it's nice finding your channel because you actually know what you're talking about with this stuff. You go in depth bout everything and explain your position on things very well.
South Park made a joke about how multiverses are only good for one movie. Hope this gets multiverse theory out of Bethesda’s system.
Starfield was the first Bethesda game where I got completely bored out of the get go, I spent more time in character creation then the actual game
I got sucked in for a little while but the peformance on PC was ridiculous. Sub 20 fps outdoors, sub 10 fps on New Atlantis. It runs better now but I'm just waiting for them to add more updates.
@@MajesticsTwelve I have small hope for the next elder scrolls, Bethesda isn't the same as it once was
Agreed. The constant loading screens did not help.
I was waiting for this one
I loved the long commentary, I actually learn neat things!
I kind of feel bad for all the people who bought Xboxes specifically for this game
...That intro took me off-guard. I had glanced at my D&D players via FoundryVTT, then came back to see a *VERY* particular color of green, and a list upon the left side of the screen.
2:16 "you see, heaven has to be a cross between a Chillzone video and... chicken & Winnigish"
Love your reactions, i originally got here because of some 40k reactions, but i stayed for your commentary, you´re one of those people i would die to have a few beers with and inevitably get into a drunken philosophy session.
Honestly, your insight into a pretty broad spectrum of niche stuff has me impressed, but more than that, i love your chill nature.
Also, just noticed you´re using the same headset as me lol. Keep at it, greetings from bumf*ck nowhere - Czechia.
If you like Baldur's Gate 3 I do highly recommend the two Pathfinder games, Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous. They aren't as Larian but on the other hand they also don't have some of the Larian issues.
Skyrims story is good? bruh shits like 3-4 hours long without levelling or doing side content lmao
I love how you decided to put Divinity music while going about BG3
I was surprised Sseth made a video about Starfield. Also don't worry about your commentary!
only 57 entries on "that site" after all this time is like a death sentence
I can't wait to see you play the Rogue Trader crpg
Love your research good sir. I get confused on who makes what games.

My personal disappointment of Starfield that no one else expresses(that I can see)
I love doing unarmed builds in rpgs that allow it. In Fallout I threw hands with a Deathclaw and won. In Skyrim I suplexed Miraak into the dirt. In Starfield I struggle to kill a bandit lower level than me with the first Unarmed skill I'm allowed to access maxed. I quicksaved before fighting that bandit, drew a random low level melee weapon I had, and killed that bandit faster with no melee skills other than Boxing unlocked.
What the fuck is wrong with you, Bethesda? Why let me build unarmed at all if it's vastly inferior to picking up a gun?
>Why let me build unharmed at all if it's vastly interior to picking up a gun?
I get your broader point, but just think about that last sentence.
I thought the UC questline was pretty good tbh
The faction quests were all good in my opinion. And the game has a hand full of interesting side quests. But the main quests and most side quests are kinda lackluster.. at least in my personal opinion.
most bethesda games have lackluster main quests tbh@@nyx2903
My friend, it doesnt matter if you finish a game or not. Your opinion is 100% valid, if you taste a meal at a restaurant and it tastes bad and you get sick and start puking. You dont need to force yourself to finish eating it to know its not good. Unless you want to do so out of curiosity or other personal reasons and actually want to do it, you should never have to force yourself to "finish a game" in order to have a "valid opinion on it"
Likewise, if you're looking through the front glass of the restaurant and see one of the patrons inside take a bite and start puking, it's safe to say it's not good food without actually trying it yourself.
And that opinion is just as valid as any other.
@@Chuck_Hucklerthey might just be lactose intolerant or allergic to peanuts.
Really cool channel, glad I came across it!
Also, IMO, Skyrim's main strength was literally *everything* except the dogshit excuse of the "main story" questline
Combat was kind of meh but good at the time but how come the main quest was that bad? Other than the disappointing boring end fight with Alduin, I think it was kind of cool.
This been a year of one game fucking up so hard it became the best advertisment for another game. First we had D4 which send like flood of player into PoE like never before. Then we have starfield sending everyone to cyberpunk, I mean CDPR did work on cyberpunk and phantom liberty is amazing but fucking starfield pushed it to the next level for everyone by just showing how amazing it is in comparison.
Although I guess the true winner of this shit this year is bud light manage to some how lose over 30%+ of its market share, losing its spot as the top selling beer and pushing everyone else up.
Also, even the absolute worst, first version of 2077 was better then Starfield will ever be. This game has no soul nor reason to play it.
I was listening to your RPG tangent, and my lizard brain focused on your microphone quality and such, and it got me wondering, What sort of microphone/Mic arm do you use?
Modders are on record saying this can't be fix'd. It's finally over.
TH-cam recommended this video to me, in the first seconds of the video you enter rule 34 to prove a point, that's when I thought "that's it, there's content, time to subscribe"
I am curious about what you mean about BG3's 3rd act being broken as hell at release. I've gotten more than a dozen playthroughs and the only changes I've seen are them cutting parts of Karlach's story that were supposed to lead you to the upper city and repairing her engine and then opening up Minthara's dialogue. They optimized it so it runs better, but at release most of the issues with act 3 were bc of them not really giving all the characters a fitting end. Something which actually gave a lot of people hope to see dlc that would use the massive amount of unused assets in the upper city and hell. A lot of these fixes, and how big and fast they've been coming out, has more and more people thinking that we won't actually see any dlc for the game now. Which would be a disappointment.
That said, if you've paid attention to things about Starfield since this video you've likely heard that there is next to nothing modders can do to fix the game. There's a zero point issue that is hard-coded into the engine which lead to all the poor decisions that make the game so bad and unless that's fixed there is very little modders can do. Basically, where you spawn into an area becomes the center of the universe, rather than the player or the world. The further from that point that the player moves, the more assets that have to be loaded in, the lower the quality of the assets that load in until the game just freezes up and crashes. If you put too many assets into one of these cells, the same thing begins to happen. They tried to build a modern game using software that was built around the limitations of 10 year old hardware. They set themselves up to fail. They expanded the engine a bit to allow them to upgrade the graphics, then they pushed that engine to its very limits and then sat on it for a long time and released it knowing full well it didn't hold up against other games. They should've been using the time since Todd said it was ready to release fixing the engine and getting rid of the zero point design, which is something other old games used to suffer from - Minecraft for example. Had they done so, both Bethesda and the modders would have a lot more they would be able to do as far as expanding on the game. We can't know WHY they didn't do what everyone on the team should have clearly known was necessary, but it is a very clear sign of mismanagement. They never should have been in this position where releasing a game in this state was even considered, but they learned nothing from Fallout 76.
Someone probably said it, but New Vegas wasn’t made by Bethesda but Obsidian
Ayamge Badawe is the protagonist of Starfield
7:24 Yes, that's almost it, just a bit more terror around the eyes.
don't forget the nollywood classic vultures of horror :>
I just realized how uncanny the facial movements are. Sarah talking looks like one of those robots trying to mimic moving their face to match what they were saying.
It's fine having a long commentary, matter of fact I personally would rather have it done like you do instead of how other reaction YTbers do that just wait for the video to say something funny and add a "tha's crayzee" on top of it and do so for the entire length of the video.
Have a good one, you're a dude with experience and well-thought opinions to share, don't apologize for doing so.
"We do it for science"
Well well well, for science, i see... Biology
I guess this video was made before the latest Star Citizen trailers.
Spoiler: they've just finally cracked seamlessness.
@evanknight5167 so just... don`t waste money on it? if it'll release - we'll play it, if it won't - why cry?
28:07 but it works.
It just works.
Star Citizen is a massive game that is less buggy and only has one loading screen
The mini story segment on RPG was really good and totally agree. People need to understand that Bethesda aren't trying to tell a good story. Just move on to other games that match their expectations.
Not to say that have to ignore bethesda games problemns, but at least point out the gameplay , exploration and itemization of their games , not story.
Seriously, keep doing those. Your knoweldge is so fucking big dude.
the main good thing about the empty plaints is mods so why are they waiting to release the tool kit i dont know
At least it's a good modding position r-right?
What's the game at 26:43, anyone?
That rant was personal lol
Man, I don't know who you are. I've just randomly com across this. Most likely because you reacted to a video I've seen 6 times.
But I gotta say.
- Like's sseth's humor
- Knows captain alex
- knows how much bethesda games suck and aren't afraid to say it
- casually drops Michio Kaku just to shit on his life's work, which he wasted and ruined a generation with
I think you're my favorite youtuber as of today.
I would really like to see your reaction to what the Star Citizen people showed at Citizen Con.
Especially the Squadron I held the Line and Star Engine Trailer.
It really puts into Perspective what Starfield could have been if it had been made by a team with a Vision.
Starfield is exactly what I wanted, that does not mean it's good.
Persuasion is so broken that i finished the game persuading everything, and i had no skill points on it.
Multiverse theory is a waste of time and resources…
Ouch.
Yeah Obsidian. The people that made the best Fallout game, Fallout New Vegas.
Thankfully, we can now make official(ish) mods with AI.
And then the modding scene gave up on Starfield because the game code makes you unable to do things.
How did seeth pay a 100 bucks for the game? I played like $20 + $1 for preorder bonus
Preorder and Deluxe edition xd
Since Skyrim you could see Bethesda moving to a Sandbox RPG
Where nothing Mattered Skyrim has literally 2 choices in the whole game.....and lets be real Skyrim is meh at best
Here's the sad sad fact about the engine....
Even if they wanted to either build a new one from scratch OR use a different engine at this point....
There's is literally NOBODY left at bethesda game studio's, who would actually be able to do their JOB in a new engine, let alone BUILD ONE FROM SCRATCH!!
It's painfully obvious that they coasted by on the greater talents of past programmers and that talent has long since LEFT.
What bethesda is now is a shell of incompetent dipshits who don't even know WHAT DLSS IS!!!!!!
They didn't even know they engineered FSR 2 wrong into the game!!!
I do believe that it's this loss of talent AND SKILL at bethesda that has caused all of this.
Look at the artstyle of skyrim.... amazing.... ICONIC. Thought up and designed by people who are no longer with the studio.
Now look at the "artstyle" of starfield...... boring.... uninspired.... simplistic.... uncreative.... soulless....
Most of that art is Frazetta. Based.
wow my man...
thats some serious integrity to not react because you yourself havent finished the game
huge probs
To be fair, its not just Sarah, theres been a lack of sauce recently, even BG3 one of the biggest games of the decade, and with all the sauce already in the game, didnt generate the level of sauce that one might expect.
It's surprising how many people fail to understand that a lot of these legacy studios are basically just skinwalkers. Names like Bethesda, Blizzard and Bioware lost their meaning, because most of the core members that made them what they are left long ago. They are not the same studios.
Since when did we read credits to know whom made games developed or published under a certain studio?
my two favorite autistic people
Yep, I'd long since abandoned my hopes of Bethesda having good stories after Oblivion. They make a decent canvas upon which modders can build magic, that's about it.
I married Sarah so I could see what her reaction would be when I sided with the Crimson Fleet.
It's a perfect and sleazy tactic. Make the game the bare minimum and let everyone else sort things out. It's been Bethesda's style of development since Skyrim even though Skyrim is slightly more complete than most of their latest games.
I mean people love speech in games like these so yeah of course the system is amazing, it should be one of the best things in the game, the same was true in Fallout 3 and NV, and in Skyrim it was nearly criminal how difficult it was to level speech and how barren the options to use it were, one of the worst things about that game
But yes you should know how beloved speech is when it gives some of the best dialogue and gives you options you simply could never have otherwise, hence why New Vegas is so lauded for that mechanic, you can play what is largely a different game by talking to people instead of having to just kill everyone
Lots of different people have worked on the various Bethesda games, it's never just one certain team of specific individuals every time, it always changes and there are hundreds of people that will work on them over time, every game is going to be unique, and that's not just Bethesda games lol (also Skyrim made things act as mimics, it was the basis for so many similar games, the only real parallel between it was prior ES games and they've all been vastly different as well, you're retrospectively calling Skyrim cookie cutter when the truth is it inspired many cookie cutters of itself)
Im pretty sure haedcore mode in new vegas let you just kill important npcs. It was the greatest invention to mankind bethesda never let carry forward without mods. As an outsider insider it seems starfield and any other bethesda game involving children highly needed it because it would have added a songle point at least on metacritic.
Nah, you could kill important quest-related NPCs from the get-go on any mode or difficulty. Hardcore only enabled permenant deaths of COMPANION NPCs, which was more annoying than immersive.
I'm speaking from personal experience, and seeing your dumbass allies throwing themselves at Deathclaws was infuriating to say the least.
They need to demote or fire their story team lead already. He took over during the making of fallout 3 and has been making boring stories ever since. Much better stories and quest under their last people especially kirkbride.
Are you familiar with FLEEKAZOID? Next to SSeth, my favorite game reviewer. More manic, with probably less racism (not sure) and a...larger emphasis on boobage. You'd surely enjoy some.
wait i thought starfield sarah was like... an older woman like 40 or 50 or smth like i remember her being older in the trailer. one of the main companions being like a woman who is older than 25 was like a redeeming quality for this game. (its a seemingly low bar, i know)
Damn you didnt even mention Oblivion. Personal favorite elder scrolls even long after skyrim and despite its jank corny limited bullshit. It still somehow had it all.
Long story short, companies don't make incredible games. People do.
Vegas was the goat and it ain’t Bethesda
Nah, i gave up on bethesda long time ago, last game from them im actually enjoyed was oblivion, last one i bought - skyrim.
modded FO4 is the best FO, come get me.
Cartman was right, you do have a bass guitar
What are you even talking about? Neither Interplay nor Obsidian has anything to do with Morrowind and Oblivion (and Fallout 3 debatebly).
The old fallout games were made by interplay who had their start with text based Rpgs...they are also in part responsible for the earlier work of Bioware and cdpr
X to Doubt on FO3 being a 'good' story.
I distinctly remember being unable to send my dear, radiation-immune mutant friends into the lethally radioactive control chamber to activate Project Purity in base game.
Then in Broken Steel they had the narrator call me a coward for *checks notes* not wanting to die unnecessarily to lethal amounts of radiation...
I am sure there were other points i have missed but to this day it lives in my head. WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK were the writers thinking when they implemented that idiotic plot? ESPECIALLY IF THEY WANTED TO MAKE IT HAVE TO BE THE PLAYER THEY COULD MAKE THE MACHINE ONLY RESPOND TO PROTAGONIST'S DAD'S DNA! We are dealing with a setting of immense Sci-Fi chicanery, some Post-Apocalyptic Post-Doctorates making their pet project locked to their DNA wouldnt be that out of line. This is the same universe where the Bomb Shelter of MIT is 3D Printing Synthetic Humans for fuck's sake!
Who killed captain alex!!
NUMBAH ONE UGANDA BOLLYWOOD ACTION MOVEEEEEH MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE!!!!!
Look out!!! Dinosaurs!!!... XD
22:27 It would be a shame if they end up relocating all their Elder Scrolls 6 team back to Starfield and then use that to justify any inconveniences for their future product. And just like you said, the only way this is getting fixed is by the modding community... Because lets be honest...
It's Bethesda Magic!
Game so disappointing, it forced Sseth to criticize the game properly.
