      Thank you! And indeed, i really try and both...make it a solid piece script wise but also tie in the characters longer arc journey AND fill plot holes if i can for the movie/story i'm referencing.

    With ensign Harrieman assigned to the Enterprise E, I hope he was among LaForge's team that went to Earth to work on the Phoenix and not in the engine room when the Borg took over. He seems such a nice guy and the thought of him becoming a drone doesn't bear thinking about.

    Hello Samuel, huge congratulations! This is one of the best fan films ever!
    I'd like to offer some detailed feedback for you. I am so happy and proud to have been a supporter and promoter of your work over many years.
    Production:
    Marcus is an amazing actor. Natural, believable, emotive, talented. Excellent.
    Rhea's narration was perfection. She should be the new voice of Trek.
    Cheers for jumping RIGHT into the story. Fanfilms with 5 minutes of opening credits are cringe.
    You have somehow cracked the code of how to make a person look like they are physically in a green screen environment. Well done mate.
    This will change the future of fan films (and TV shows, and feature films) forever.
    Did you include false "film artifacts" in the rendering? I seemed to have seen a couple for a frame or two.
    Space Special Effects:
    Samuel my friend, you have cracked the "uncanny valley" code I think.
    I am an ardent physical model fan. But you have evolved your skills to the point that now, I could almost never tell the difference, and I have a keen eye.
    You did an excellent job at keeping the animation of "glows' to a minimum, which adds so much to the realism.
    So many , including some official Trek productions blow these glows out so much that it looks animated and cartoonish. Great job finding the balance here!
    The flybys were so realistic that while I knew they weren't lifted from the films, they were at least the same quality and mostly higher.
    They could easily be edited into Generations, as an improvement!
    Just a couple of nitpicks:
    There was an audio glitch at 2:48, I'm sure you're aware.
    There was the one shot of the Enterprise that seemed at a lower Frame Rate, not critical, and most people probably wouldn't notice.
    Please consider using the standard widescreen TV ratio, there were no scenes where the artificial "cinema scope" format would have lost any visual content, and allowed us a slightly larger picture to enjoy your hard work.
    All in all, one of the best I have seen ever.
    Every fan of Star Trek should watch this, and I will be sharing on my social media!
    THANK YOU Samuel, for your devotion to Star Trek, not only as a fan of it, but someone who wants to do it, and DOES do it right.
    Cheers mate!

I wish you all the best with all the stories we have to look forward to that I'm sure you will tell. The most important thing is you treat the subject matter with the respect it deserves. I know this was all a acted performance and maybe today was one of those days where old memories have gathered close, still wanting to be heard. This presentation made me recall the many times of being both "in the Chair" and "at the table" as part of a committee conducting the proceedings. This performance placed me right back into those feelings. Even knowing the outcome of the events he was describing I felt myself go through the tension and relief associated with such emotional events. Plus I felt a actual sense of respect for a individual who put duty above fear and others before self.
    Outstanding idea to relive and strengthen the depth of a known story by telling it from a "everyman" point of view. The inclusion of historical figures and past events was well thought out and helped illustrate how the average crew member viewed those people who became legends in Star Fleet. It also gave a insight as to how a crew member views themselves within the scope of the ships and commanders heroic actions.
    This production was excellent. The manner in which the story was presented with well selected visuals that help place what part of the story was being told, it all flowed from past events to present in a concise and informative manner. The narrator deserves credit for establishing a pace of narration and tone that gives it that authentic video documentation style. The actor was outstanding! Whether he knows it or not his body language and vocal inflections was spot on for how service members conduct themselves during debriefings and formal proceedings after they have been through a traumatic event.
    From a disabled veteran who was a career NCO, thank you for presenting the true meaning of Star Trek. That if individuals rise as one and put the needs of the many before the one, then there is hope for a better future.

    Thank you, Commander, for another fine film.
    I've seen you ask a few times in the comments, so here goes, I do have a few very minor nitpicks
    The shot of the NCC-1701-B's saucer at about 4:08 had somewhat pixelated text, I'm guessing it was a model designed to be viewed from further out, and it would have been a lot of work to retexture it for a few seconds on screen.
    You missed a great opportunity to explain why they did not even bother trying to eject the core, perhaps a joke about the core ejection system never having worked, and being something even Geordi could not fix, or "Geordi split us into several teams each spent a few days thoroughly testing the E's core ejection systems to make sure they are more reliable than on the D".
    As for what looked especially good,
    The flypast of the NCC-1701-E at about 21:30, where you could actually see rooms in many of the windows, that must have been a fair bit of work, a small detail but that it was there and moved perfectly as the camera did, and it seemed like it was every lit up window really made the shot more beautiful and convincing.
    p.s. perhaps it's time to ask the Captain's recommendation for a promotion, surely you must have earned your own command by now.

We always see the command crew, but they can't really function without the rest of the crew. Its good to see things from the point of view of the background players, their fears and hopes are, in my opinion, just as important as the 'stars' of the show. Great film! Loved the comments about hopefully not facing the Borg towards the end, considering how we first see the Enterprise E.

    Also learned from reading the comments that the old uniforms where worn for a year before the crew adopts the movie uniforms.

    In 25 minutes you where able to make compelling "interview" that almost rivaled the SFX team on STD and every other nu trek show out there, a story and character that is way better then anything current trek could ever hope to create.

      Hi David, what makes you say that? I believe it was said that no one knew what happened to the Enterprise B and so he was "missing" I think that was in a novel.
      As far as i know he was never mentioned again in Trek so we dont know if he was alive or dead, i took it as he died in a heroic way between the B and C.

    • @davidponseigo8811
      @davidponseigo8811 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it was in a couple of the novels that he was still living at the time but unfortunately that's not canon so maybe it's wishful thinking on my part. I think in beta canon he became a Admiral.

  • @Jarsia
    @Jarsia ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Absolutely loved it. Wonderfully written.
    Only (small) criticism is that I'm not fond of the tendency in fan films/fiction to make almost everyone related to someone famous in the franchise. A Harriman on the 1701 D during a mission tying back to the B is a pretty big coincidence. Being interviewed by presumably one of Archer's descendants is a bit much. There has to be a few trillion people in the federation. It's OK to be a random citizen.
    Still, I loved that you expanded on the brief view we got of the battle to explain why they didn't just blow the BoP away. Makes the bridge crew seem much less incompetent than in the film. Also the little anecdotes from the viewpoints or the engineers added a lot of humanity to what was going on off screen.
    Shoutout to Marcus as well for an outstanding performance. Very genuine. He really captured a whole range of emotions going through this story and I was completely sold on the character. This is going straight into my headcanon.
    Finally, even watching in data saver mode on my phone those renders are beautiful.
    Very nice work

    • @SGUDistantHope
      @SGUDistantHope  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hiya Jarsia,
      So, i invented Sam Harriman in 2013, never knowing id make a film linking to Generations so...that's just the culmination of making more films.
      Kathryn Archer is yes a descendent because i loved the idea that one of Archers line would be so interested and passionate about the Federation that she would become a reporter and really go that extra mile in the journalism. She's done other films interviewing other less famous legacy people too ;).
      Indeed, trying to fix some plot holes and give a bit more context...especially as the film swaps to Kirk/Picard...but we are able to keep the story on the crew and ship.
      He is phenomenal isent he!

    • @Jarsia
      @Jarsia ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SGUDistantHope yeah like I said, small criticism. An individual occurrence isnt so bad and it wasnt overplayed here, it's just a pretty common trope in fanbases that can wear thin after a while. Like all the fan pitches for a new Stargate show with Rya'c, Lt Hailey, and the O'Neill clone on a team, lol.
      I'm definitely going to watch again when I get home, because I do want to see the shots at Amagosa and the battle again. I did like the tracking flyby shot of the saucer crashing, as that was a unique perspective we didn't see in generations, and as a big sovereign class fanboy that shot of the big E leaving dry dock for the first time was just beautiful.

    Just to say Sam did a wonderful job re-creating so many scenes from generations, and Marcus performed beautifully conveying so much that didn't come across in the theatrical film. I loved scoring this one, at the end we've got themes from Generations, Trek Shorts, and the enterprise theme, (all going at the same time!) at 23:25 . The First Contact theme is beautiful, very fitting for the E launch at 21:47 with the generations theme before it 21:33.
