I bet 200 years ago, all the pocket watch fans were saying the same thing about wrist watches! Why do I need a tiny watch on my wrist when I can have a small clock in my pocket? This wristwatch trend must end now!
My mate used to wear a big ankle watch - and when he went outside wearing it the police used to pop around to ‘make sure he was ok’ - how cool is that?
Ring watches aren't a new trend, it's just an old trend that's coming back. There are lots of vintage ones available second hand that even have hand wound mechanical movements. Even Seiko and Rolex made them at one point!
Two more things: Jody spends 6 minutes talking about why we shouldn't talk about these 🤣 Secondly, ring watches have been around for decades. I personally own one that I got in an eBay lot that was made in the 1950s. They are nothing new, and they seem to cyclically show up for a few years and then go away because they might be cool but they aren't practical. I say if you like them go for it and just enjoy yourself cuz that's the advice Jody usually gives.
I personally don't see problems with that. If there are people who want to buy, why not? To remember, originally, personal watches were pocket watches. If someone didn't decide to move to wrist, we would probably be using it as a pocket watch.
yeah, I'm going to put one on my toe so when my feet are on a poufe when watching the cricket, I don't even have to move my head, just the eyes! brilliant!!

I recommend not gatekeeping anything to do with watches. Anything that brings them back into the spotlight is a good thing. If we've learned anything in recent times, there is no such things as bad press.
I had a girlfriend about 25 years ago who had a ring watch. I believe it was made by Storm, and it had a Twist-O-Flex style "bracelet". She used to actually use it as a watch, not just a fashion accessory.
The Casio watch rings are really cool! I happened to find a bunch of them at a thrift store a few years ago. I’d never wear one and they are novelties, for sure.
I mean, I find them pretty cool and it's not like they are discontinuing anything to make them. I don't see the argument for trying to kill this trend 🤷♂️
Watch is an accessory nowadays, it makes sense to be in the form of necklace pendant or rings. Better still, the ring watch is more meaningful to couple than wrist watch. Also, it is odd to wear >1 wrist watches but for ring watches, one can definitely wear >1 at any 1 time
Watch rings existed for decades (Seiko) and have a very interesting past. When you don't have a good topic just skip the video that week, we will survive.
I love this! Ring watches were big in Japan back in the 80's. I have a ring watch with a flex band and mechanical movement that I bought in Harajuku in 1987. The power reserve is only about 24 hours, but it still runs and keeps great time!
2:30 that got a belly laugh. I like those little ringpieces. It's a bit like those cufflinks made of watch movements. Functional is much better. I have to say though I'm reminded of the Christpher Walken gold watch scene in Pulp Fiction.

Have to disagree Jody. I’m a massive G-Shock square fan and love the idea of the new Casio ring watch. It’s just announced on the G-Shock UK site and I’m hoping to get one!
Just posted on FB about same thing… bought watch for 38 cents & free postage… was an effing ring watch…!!! Looked a bit bigger in the pictures…!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Boxer belt watch. So others can tell the time, if they tilt their head a bit. Nice alternative to a weight vest for training and exercise walks. Conversation starter. Actually useful, at a 90º angle at least except when taking a breather on the grass.
I hope the trend doesn't end, but it would be really interesting to see a slim and sensibly sized skeleton ring watch with a miniature auto movement. It would be cool to have a ring where you can see the balance wheel spinning.
I am a huge fan! Got to meet you briefly in NYC which was delightful! I find these rings to be a charming novelty! Legitimately considering as xmas gift for the kiddo. 😂😂😂

I know that fossil is usually just a fashion brand in terms of watches but they have been doing these for at least a couple years. They have been doing some of their analog quartz pieces. I for one definitely want the Casio!
These watch rings are fine, because they have existed as jewelry-type-...thing for a very long time. Seiko actually has ring watches, with fully functional super tiny mechanical manual winding movement, the same with Rolex and other hyper high end Swiss brands too. They have been and are fashion items for those who can afford the price tags. They have been luxury fashion items, so it makes sense it is now a novelty fashion item. It's fine to have digital watch rings, they look cool to some people, and I like it too. If I had the money, I would pick up a Seiko watch ring for men (haven't checked deep enough on Seiko's old catalogues), because it's a novel experience, and it is an engineering marvel to wear a mechanical piece on the finger :)
I remember being able to find functional ones all over the place back in the mid to late 90s. They were in those 50¢ or $1 toy vending machines and as a prize you could spend your tickets on in arcades.

Please, help me stop this disturbing, useless, and annoying new trend right now!” How is a wristwatch any more “necessary” than a finger watch? And if you like iconic watches, why is it bad to own one made in miniature … like scale models of cars and planes? As far as price goes … I can’t see how it’s any dumber to buy a finger watch for $150 than it is to buy a $1,000 Oris or whatever - when you can buy a perfectly serviceable Casio for $20. Someone is getting old. And thank god that for once it’s not me! As always, thanks for the entertaining video. And thanks for alerting me to this dangerous new trend. Besides the price, it's just a fun way of doing something different. Plus this might lead to thinner movements and thinner watches that don't cost as much as a house.
