  • A growing cadre of younger black public intellectuals reject the dominant victimhood narrative embraced by most civil rights activists, liberal politicians, leading intellectuals, and members of the mainstream media. Ian Rowe led a conversation with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Kmele Foster, and Delano Squires, heterodox thinkers whose work offers an alternative path forward for black Americans coming of age in today’s climate.

That was good. I wish them success. There are a lot of 'everyday people' who agree with them.

I hesitate to offer an answer here, it seems impertinent if not quite improper, but I suspect if you want to rival the changes made by the early church and proponents of the enlightenment then you may have to follow the example they set; Selflessness, tireless devotion, charity, humility, and understanding. It isn't a matter of messages and slogans but involvement. You cannot encourage people to better their lot and work on their communities, you have to lead the way and set the example. You have to prove the efficacy and superiority of your principles, philosophically and practically, beyond any reasonable doubt. You must become a part of their lives, invested in their outcomes, and companions in their struggles -which cannot be done from a distance. You have to go to the worst places and find the most wretched then show yourselves equal to your beliefs. Demonstrate that your convictions can make the difference. . .And you will need patience. Change takes time. This reckoning you are seeing now was generations in the making, it required decades to gather the momentum the movement has today. It still has a bit further to go before that inertia will exhaust itself but when it does those individuals will find themselves no better than they were, the world a bit worse, and our society still in need of solutions and guidance. You don't need to fight, you simply need to work.

My problem with the discussion is Liberal vs. Conservatives.
I believe that perspective divides, I wish we could remove us vs. them and focus on America.

(36:45) It's interesting that Kmele says I'm not an evangelical then he goes on to state that ‘50 years from now, I’m sure it's going to be something he dislikes’. As opposed to Delano who has a Biblical POV which gives him a clear line of right & wrong..TODAY. And that if he/we will do the right thing today (in my opinion), we can prevent another Sodom & Gomorrah event.

Kmele, "preserve the principles of a free society...."
Actually, makes more sense than most of the other speakers.. He isn't so focused on the Liberals vs. Conservatives distractions without solutions.
Kmele seems to be more focused on problems and solutions not based on the political foolishness of left vs right that most are.

With all respect,, Mr Foster comments were confusing and not any sense of truth about what or where he stands. Just philosophical rhetoric at best.
