    I own this helmet, and it's very nice. But it has one major flaw that is not mentioned in this video: The top air vent/scoops let bugs in. If you google it, you'll see there's lots of people experiencing this. There's literally flies and bugs inside the helmet after riding around for a while. There is a solution tho, just open the top air vent and sandwich a mosquito net in it, then close it up again. Problem fixed.
    Also the integrated Sena SRL system is garbage. I use a Cardo PackTalk Edge on mine, and it clamps on fine without any modifications where the Sena buttons usually would be. It is a FAR superior comms - don't buy the Sena made for this helmet, it is trash by comparison!

      I have the GT-AIR 2 and am really interested in this helmet. I also read that the SRL system is rubbish but they have a variant called the SRL Mesh which is apparently much better (I have not owned both). I have the mesh and am very happy with it so far.

      @@justincarter2224 Quite true. I guess the "fix" is the very reasonably-priced (HA!!!) remote control. You can also get a Mesh adapter for it. It'll cost you only ONE of your kidneys. But still, I do like how the SRL2 just clicked into place. If you splurge for a Neotec 3, you can get the SRL Mesh for it, but then I'd have to sell the OTHER kidney!

    Just found a local ad for $275 US for a brand new Neotec2 Medium White that his spouse never used. I went there to have my son try it on and turns out they also have the Sena installed in it which wasn't even listed on the ad. Only thing that wasn't in the box was the Pinlock insert which I am sure the guy used for his helmet when his wore out. Also snagged brand new BMW goretex riding boots for $100. My son is all set.

    I used a Nolan N104 for many years till the chin bar release broke.
    I just bought the Shoei NT2. first problem I noticed was the chin bar opening is smaller than my Noland. To see the speedo on my Royal Enfield interceptor I have to tip my head down to see it.
    Also to make sure I canceled my turn signals. Big mistake on Shoeis part.
    Because all the reviews talk about how quiet it is supposed to be I may ride short distance without ear plugs.

    • @NoWay-xu1ie
      @NoWay-xu1ie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Continued, that wasn't the case I still need earplugs. Even on my 22 Africa twin DCT Adventure with a wind deflector on the windshield it is still noisy.
      Sorry but this overpriced helmet is really not much better than my old Nolan N104.
      Considering it cost 3 times as much.

    • @FabMotorbikes
      @FabMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. I personally also feel it is massively over priced and your paying mostly for the brand (e.g I'd never heard of the helmet brand Nolan and I willing to bet they a perfectly fine helmets)
      Furthermore, I've found even the quietest helmets are loud. Ear plugs essential all the time if going over 30mph.

  • @peterjeffriess7358
    @peterjeffriess7358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And one reason not to…or if not that bad, at least annoying. I’ve had a Neotec II for about one month. It's winter here. Regardless of the pin lock, when the helmet is closed, it will fog completely - completely, to the point of being impossible to see the car in front, particularly if stationary. The only answer is to pop the helmet. But the first indent opens the helmet at least 2 cm, meaning that large amounts of freezing air shoot straight onto your face. So you can choose to ride blind or ride to frostbite, but those are your choices.
    My old Arai helmet has a tiny click up from closed, 2 or 3 mm at most, which allows enough air in to defrost (it has no pin lock) but not enough to affect the temperature inside the helmet.
    Such a shame because in every other way, and as described above, I love this helmet. Comfortable, superbly made, the modular opening is awesome. But it will be relegated to a warm weather ride when I won’t be choosing between seeing where I'm going and freezing to death before I get there.

    • @FabMotorbikes
      @FabMotorbikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments! Really interesting to hear your perspective, especially from more extreme cold weather riding, of which I don’t have that much experience (relatively speaking). Thanks again for watching 👍

      Hi Peter, You are absolutely right. I live in Belgium and have this helmet for about 2 years now. Being very quiet has a price, and I don't mean money.
      The helmet is sealed so good, the water damp can't get out. The store where I bought it gave me the advice to take out the chin piece. They make you choose between quiet and wet or noisy and dry.
      Belgium is a very rainy country. The vapor stage is skipped. There are actually drops of condensation on the visor.
      If you wear glasses like me, it really becomes a problem.
      Don't get me wrong. This is a very comfortable helmet with a super finish.
      ...when the weather is dry.

    Hello! I wanted to ask your opinion. I’ve tried one on and love everything about the helmet but the bottom air diffuser at the chin area doesn’t really cover my chin and just barely touches it so it constantly had a slight brushing feel. Is there anything about this that can be adjusted or is this pretty normal? I’d image someone would have to have the jaw of a horse in order to have their chin stick past the edge of the diffuser.

      @zunaidkajee4540 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fab Motorbikes So have I. I have heard great reviews with the C5 thus far. I think the drawback with the neotec (for me) is the weight.
      I am also due for a new helmet in a few weeks, and I think I will decide between the C5 and HJC rpha 90s carbon.
      The neotec is getting a bit outdated now....
      They need a neotec 3 now to compete in the market.
      thanks for the response buddy.

    It's a nice helmet - just not very nice that you are not allowed to use Pinlock åt night 👎 - check small sticker on left side of visor. This is also why pinlock is not installed in the box 😉

    • @FabMotorbikes
      @FabMotorbikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. In fact I stopped inserting them because I felt they were distorting my vision against street lamps at night. But on the other hand they are incredibly useful to stop free fogging.

    • @ZOOTSCOOTDOTDK
      @ZOOTSCOOTDOTDK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I has to do with the classification of the visor. Class 1 is 99% distortion free - what you see is what you see. Class 2 is still allowed in the ece22.05, but as soon as you add an extra visor (Pinlock) It goes one class down. Class 3 is not allowed at night for example. This means that all helmet manufacturers that has the Pinlock in the box and not in the helmet, most likely uses class 2 visor. Schuberth for example uses class 1 visor 👍🏻

      I wish I knew this before I bought my Neotech 2 helmet. I have a pinlock in it but as soon as it gets a bit dark I find myself driving around with the visor open as the visibility gets really poor. What could be more Important than that one can see clearly even at night?! Everything else is great about this helmet but this is a HUGE drawback as I often have to ride at night...

    This helmet is old and overpriced. The new HJC RPHA 91 is much more advanced in features. I'm a Shoei fanboy, but it's time to update this dinosaur and bring down the weight. A Snell rating would be nice as well. And get rid of the comm. docks. Not everyone uses them Shoei!

  • @DrSKMetz
    @DrSKMetz ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been using a Neotec II for a few years and like the fit, features, and overall quality but will never buy another Shoei for one reason: the jaw droppingly bad visor connection system. I can fully change an Arai or Schuberth visor in 20 seconds at most. The Shoei takes at least five minutes. It's incomprehensible to me that Shoei can't engineer a competent, easy to use visor connection system.

    • @FabMotorbikes
