This song so deeply speaks to my soul. My brother chose to take his life 9 months ago, and it still feels like barely any time has passed. He was my soul friend who understood me like no one on this planet ever did, and he was the kindest, most giving person I've ever known - he just suffered from his own self pain or demons as they say. I love you Jesse and I miss you every day.. I know you're at peace too 🪽
This dude is so legit live, he's the embodiment of a rock star. His presence on stage is almost intimidating, but his music is disarming and he's a genuine, cool guy. He's also one of the best guitar players I've ever seen live. He reminds me of BB King, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jimi Hendrix all rolled into one.
I so agree!! I saw him 7-8 years ago and he was up on stage with his guitar wearing this large black hat that covered his face in shadow for most of the performance. He looked so mysterious and almost eerie. That coupled with the deeply soulful music - definite rockstar material.
Exactly @jcwoodward!!! That's exactly what happened to me. This is the first version of it I heard and after listening to a few others this is my favorite
Agreed... he's so open about his struggles and failures and it translates directly to the music. When I first heard this song it broke me down, made me well up w tears "🎶 that I just can't shake 🎶"
Goosebumps. Ah, I remember that time I was fortunate enough to be 'around a fire' (if you will) after a festival set - and Eric Clapton and John Legend were both speaking about this man with such eloquence and honor.... which blew my own mind. He deserved it before any of that though. Let's give him the respect he deserves. Thanks GLC
Greatest musician of our generation. On Pandora✨💫💎 Edit: He’s on Pandora where I’ve subbed to his station and only ever heard him until now when I’ve subbed to his TH-cam channel. He IS the greatest musician of our generation tho✨💫💎
Oh wow. I relate to this so much. Thank you Gary for putting words to the way many of us feel. Things seem dark but I know there is hope..He has a name. Jesus. He has always filled me. It makes time like what Gary is describing bearable.
If y'all want to see another side of Gary really rockin' out, I recommend you check out his Stevie Wonder tribute performance with Beyonce and Ed Sheeran. He's just phenomenal!
(looks left, looks right) he's singing about sitting at the VA right? Just some thoughts a Veteran would be having while waiting to schedule an appointment for any health care... with a month or two long wait list.
That didn't hit home... Thank you #JonStewart and the #DailyShow for having Gary Clark Jr. on the show, and sharing his beautiful artistry ❤ He is one of the reasons I refuse to support streaming platforms, as they do little to support the artists. I am now going to get some kleenex... Which will be followed by buying at least one of his albums.
If his song is true about himself, it's such a pity. He's so young and has a whole life yet to live, and life goes on much longer than you know when you're young. He has time to cure himself and stop mourning his innocence. All humans come to that conclusion sooner or later, and it shouldn't come so early in life. You have the whole world to explore. Just do it and don't dwell so much on the present.
@@trappedkitty5335probably. Because objectively, this was very unique playing, deep lyrics and a lovely voice. Don’t know if I’d listen to an album if it though. But RESPECT for sure
If I was a rich white woman sitting in my 3,000 sqft. brownstone, sippin' some $300 wine, this would be divine! I'm not that, so this blows. Like a smooth John Mayer. Never heard this guy before, and based on this, probably never will again. Not got enough heart to ground my animus.
One man. One guitar. Absolute brilliance. My emotions spill over the cup of my life.
Been listening to this man for years. About time he gets the recognition he deserves.
Jon knows.

Gary Clark Jr. is one of the best contemporary songwriters and guitarists.

This cat has got PIPES. So much emotion.. Fantastic 👍
He’s a man not a feline
Dolphin dive high five
Great guitar player too. He’s been invited to play at Eric Clapton‘s Crossroads Guitar Festival a couple times.
@@m0j0lukac Thanks for shouting out Gary's appearances at the Crossroads festivals, that's where I first heard of this amazing musician!
@@TheScottish-cj4yi a cool cat
You know those songs that just make you cry immediately? Even the 2nd time I listened to it
Beautiful

AMEN
He deserves so much more in this world.
Thank you John and The Daily Show production team/cast for showcasing GCJ.
I love that you can watch him perform thr same song on the different talk shows and no 2 performances are the same...
He has a great blues rock timbre to his voice.
my favorite song on the new album. what a great collection of songs it is, and I hope to catch him on the road.
Gary Clark Jr writes and sings such profoundly beautiful confessional songs -- like his earlier song "Church" -- this song soulfully resonates.
Agreed... he's so open about his struggles and failures and it translates directly to the music. When I first heard this song it broke me down, made me well up w tears "🎶 that I just can't shake 🎶"
So powerful with just voice and guitar. What a beautiful soul!
Speaking his truth! We hear you and we feel you!
We all need some help 🙏🏾
Well said @mar11mar11 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Everyone should be able to relate as we all need help 🙏🏽 in this crazy world
AMAZING!!!!!!!! So proud I was blessed to hear you from the beginning at JGB in ATX!
Fantastic performance. I just wish he would have been able to play the full 9 minute version. The 2nd half is my favorite part!

Not enough musicians have the courage to play with so few bells and whistles. Respect
true, and spesh not with lyrics that open
I've been listening to him since I first heard him on the then Nexflix Luke Cage soundtrack. Very talented
That's where I discovered him too. They had him appear in one episode and I was like "Who the heck is that! I need more."
He is brilliant… I have followed him for many years!! Thank you Linda and Gary. 💕
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I hope this video goes viral
Beautiful. I had not heard of him before, now I must hear more.
Thank you, Jon

I absolutely adore his sound. Beautiful. Thank you.
That subtle off beat groove. Masterful.
Lovely and vulnerable. A true artist. Well done!!!
That is such a great song with him and just his guitar. Priceless

What a performance. His voice is incredible
Beautiful 🔥 🔥
Thank you! I just ordered the CD.
We can still get CDs?
@@jasonbrownjourno LOL, yes, and rip them to FLAC, put them on a network drive and enjoy the best sound possible. As long as you know how.
Chills. Literal chills.
Wish TDS would have let that ending simmer a bit before suddenly killing the moment with their TH-cam bumper. Wonderful song!
Amazing album 🙌🙌🙌
Awesome news blues fans! Ever since he was a guest on JRE, the blues artists shot up 500% in views!
His dad is great too! Sings Mary's Prayer in a band
Such a talent 🔥
I never heard of this guy and I like his style.
Nothing is in life is not for sure. What's for sure, live u may, die u must. A song with meaning 😂.
Phenomenal ❤🤘🎸
Saw this live in Hyde park and it was phenomenal
NO AUTOTUNE!!! It’s very important.

Thanks Gary. You Gave Another Song To Add To My Sobriety Playlist ❤
How can I have so much in common with him? His words struck so close.
Cuz y’all the same species. Both human beings no?
We all do. We all share these pains and struggles as humans.
We all lose someone, through our own faults or no faults at all, we still lose.
People, places, time, things. And yeah, they sure did.
love it
I love you
I love the acoustic version on jre! This one is cool but something about the acoustic hits hard.

Can’t wait to see Gary Clark Jr. at Radio City Music Hall on June 11

Very nice performance. I can see why he’s a Jon Stewart fav.
❤ mane This song is about my Life right now.
Wow
Dude oozes talent from his pores. Amazing.
I felt like he wrapped me in music by weaving his guitar and lyric into a shawl of emotion

Well, you got one more subscriber, Ga'ry. You write the same as I.
Singing style reminds me of Terence Trent D'Arby.
Wow, that's a ways back

I honestly like this version better than the studio version.

What a waste of a monday/show... love Gary
Gary's great, but this piece wasn't one to really show off his guitar playing chops.

👍
Kinda feels like shallow from Gaga
My EM-Song is the best song on TH-cam
AOC: “I like this song but it is kinda religious.”
Me: “No its not.”
AOC: “Then why is he singing about a nun’s outfit?”
😅😅😅😅
Meh..
He isn't my cup of tea either, but that may be because I was listening to Black Pumas today.

Jon Stewart found to have overvalued his NYC home by 829% after labeling Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

Oh looks it’s another James bay wannabe 😂😂
I come hard to the daily show for skewed news. That’s totally accurate, but then blows it way out of proportion. If you know what I mean #Onomatopoeia
This guy is a bore! Where's that new Lenny Kravitz album ?
