With regard to "We The People" Why do they always ignore the "IN ORDER TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION" part? The founding fathers must have known our union would need to evolve into something MORE perfect than it already was, or is... Why do Republicans ignore that part?!

That lyric is also a reference to Samuel Johnson, a Scottish political writer of the 18th century, who wrote that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. There was an immediate rebuttal that patriotism is actually the *first* refuge of the scoundrel, which I tend to agree with personally and is probably closer to what Dylan was getting at, rather than what Johnson intended. I find it difficult to trust "patriotism". It's too easily abused.

I wish people would stop saying education in the US is a problem of funding. IT'S NOT and it's very easy to look up that it's not. The US ranks 5th in world in per student spending, ahead of even most of Europe. The problem is a dysfunctional and wasteful education system, along with a culture that just doesn't place a high value on education (no, just emphasizing getting a degree isn't the same thing). But as is typical of American politics, they want easy solutions to complex problems, which in itself is probably an indictment of the American education system.

For me, any display of open patriotism is cringeworthy and those that need to display it aren't patriotic at all, rather the opposite. I'm sorry. when I see all that flag waving, the printed shirts and the hats, I see a white nationalist and someone that definitely doesn't have the country's interests at heart.
It's how I spot the trumpies (or the veterans, I can't be sure) in my neighborhood, the flag flying all the time. As if they're not in America already. I kept my cotton stitched flag in a window for years as a curtain. I finally took it down less than 2 years ago. It has taken on a strange flavor. I hope that will change soon.

I'm not an American & non affiliated to either parties, but I'm always skeptical of making a successful business person the President of a country. In business they lose almost every aspect of humanity. Their ruthlessness, insensitivity & doing anything to get what they want, is worrisome in my opinion.
Especially when they’re used to being CEO, and everyone up and down the chain bends to their every whim.

I've known some kind people running very small businesses, but it's my impression the bigger the business gets, the more pressure there is to put money ahead of people- and the people who can do that the most, get promoted.

So many states have "Right to Work" laws which make union organizing and participation more difficult. They are more commonly called the "right to work for less" laws.

I'm so terrified about the upcoming election. I no longer live in the US (actually the country the US broke away from), but every time I visit people seem more and more unhinged. I do want to retire in the US, it's where all my family is and my favorite places in the world. Sad that this is what it's come to.

Imagine how strong our country would become if we: 1. Fixed the education system from K - PhD to be available and effective for anyone who is able to take advantage of it. We just need 1 thing. And there's more than one 1 thing. If we had ranked/ranged voting instead of first past the post voting in all elections nationwide is another 1 thing that would fix things. That's 2 things. Just do one and the other will follow.
