@@Fearior Got a couple coming up over the next month. I had to pull out of one this weekend due to knee surgery, unfortunately.
@@Andy2D6 Damn, I wish you quick recovery!
Yo dude. This is amazing content bud. It's Jack from 3rd game. RE the Miners vs Hellbaster situation... The Hellblaster was destroyed in combat so you choose to then restrain or over-run ... page 156 over run ... a unit that overuns makes a normal pursuit move but must move directly forwards, without pivoting. So they just yeet off the board from their top left corner before they contact with the haggard engineer. Sweet game man. The wombo combo Ive theorised from the dwarf engineer is get 29 crossbows (15 wide) on the hill with a runelord in, forgefire so armour bane 4 and then the engineer in command range (re-roll 1s) to get more value from him (should he not need the re-roll for the organ gun). Give him a handgun as well - stop being tight 🤣. Keep up the good work though brother. Really easy and engaging reports.
That's really good to know about overrunning. Might lead to some situations where you want to leave a model alive, so they can flee and your pursuit direction is different.
Also, that sounds like a hilarious combo with the crossbows. Gonna try out something like that and see how it does.
@@Andy2D6 Imagine being a brettonian knight and your duke orders you to go within 30" of that hill 😂. Good luck at the next Gt brah
@@Andy2D6 Exactly..worth noting that even if the hellblaster fled..war machines are automatically destoryed whenever they FLEE-FLEE , so would of been an over-run also. Still so many of these interactions to master. Gonna take us all many months I assume.
The part about reinforcements is on page 134 of the rulebook, Oddball stuff (Movement). You are correct in both that you had to deploy with your rear arc in full contact with the table edge and that you can't march.
So weird that they consider entering the table to be "Oddball" rather than giving it a proper section.
Enjoyed all of these even if some of them perhaps weren't the best battles ever. Plenty of food for thought for me as someone with a lot of dwarfs to paint!
Great tournament report, your are the only reports I listen too, as you mention they are easy to listen to as you are very descriptive and by watching the picture you can quickly understand what is going on. On other channels they are too flashy try to be excesively funny and you dont understand what is going on as they say " i am charging THAT UNIT WITH THIS UNIT" those reports are 3 hours long minimum, can't watch a game that long, and to top that they get a looooot of rules wrong (way more than you XD) and they do not care to correct themselves. Keep it up! 3 organ guns is overkill IMO, I would probably take a cannon or a Grudgethrower although they are not too strong atm. but for big monsters they are pretty good if they hit and wound. best organ gun..... I have love for all three, did not know there was an organ gun model older than the 90's one though. Congrats on the win and the draws, your oponnents lists looked really sharp!
WRT your comment about not being able to hurt the Green Knight, every Runic weapon, including Artillery with runes, is a magical attack. It would probably be worth considering for him, and Vampire Banshees, Hexwraiths etc
@doubleskulls Definitely. At an event you're likely to face at least one or two units like this.
51:59 You charge the side where most of the charging units miniatures lie. And it is decided from the charged unit point of view. Meaning: from what I can see the front arc invisible line from the knight of the realm goes throug the Ironbreaker next to the runepriest up to the Ironbreaker behind the banner, that would be 6 miniatures completely within the fron rank of the knight of the realm, the other 14 would be in the flank. you would charge in the flank. Page 127, Fig 127.1 of the Rulebook.
Interesting. I'm gonna dive into the book later to make sure I've got it all correct for the future.
Awesome summary of our game dude (Game 4). It really could've easily gone either way if a few die rolls had swug it at the end.
I think the only 'mistake' I might have made was sending the Chosen down the flank- in hind sight, I could have thrown them down the middle and then forced you to focus fire and potentially leave more of the horsemen and knights to reach your lines! The scrap with the Iron Breakers would have depended on how many Chosen shoot down before combat I reckon...
Food for thought anyway...
Gained yourself another sub!
It was fun to see a Chaos Warriors list doing interesting things without relying on big flying heroes.
Hi Andy! Thanks for all the videos on The Old World. Please could you tell me where you find listings of tournaments? I'd like to attend a tourney but have no idea where to look aside from the warhammer world website.
Eventbrite is a good one to search. Best Coast Pairings also has a search feature for tournaments that use it.
@@Andy2D6 Thanks. Will have a look
The answer against the empire army might be one or two catapultas hidden behind a mountain and firing indirectly with a engineer by their side and runes to endure missfires?
I haven't seen much value in stone throwers so far, but this could definitely be a match-up they shine in.
Maybe the king charges the engineer instead of the cannon, and more likely runs off table edge?
Also, I 1000 percent agree with the critique of the rules being all over the place
1:35 I wouldn't go after the cannon with the Ironbreakers in game 3 - apart from shooting there are spells that can stop them from charging anyway.
The Runesmith may have been in position to use his auto-dispel runes at that point.
Game 2 with the bretonnians along with your game the other day have both obviously been a lot of fun from a dwarf point of view. Pleasantly surprised how well your boys have done in combat against grail knights, peg knights, green knights etc.
Felt over the two games the Bret player should have been able to find a way to flank charge the rangers in the first game with the peg knights and should have left them well alone in the second!
Anyway even if it is perhaps a good matchup you should give yourself some credit for playing a couple of good games there.
Hopefully the Rangers will always be a tempting target for people.
Did you consider sending them into combat against the empire gunline in the following game?
@@ClydeMillerWynant I knew they'd outgun the lesser chaff units of the Empire, so I put them away from the war machines with the intent of picking up points by shooting the small units.
They seemed to do a good job of that though I did wonder if they might have been able to achieve similar or better if they'd engaged a unit instead - looked like there were several very killable units lined up near the board edge.
Hi Andy,
Think the king you fought against in game 1 had an illegal rune combo: Master rune of swiftness and Master Rune of Alaric the Mad. I guess he could have put one of those on his hand weapon and the other on his great? Not that it matters - no combat! A depressing game, really. Clearly both armies reluctant to spill more cousin-dwarf blood than necessary.
Oh yes. Well spotted. Some of the apps have issues, so it probably didn't flag.
At 20:00 how they kill so many of your rangers? They are in skirmish formation so models on hill but behind other ranger can still shoot but with -2 probably. They got models of the same unit in front of them! If they were in open order they could shoot without malus!:)
It was a great round of rolling.
If you ever wanted a 4th different organ gun, there was a Bretonnian model.
Yikes…hey read my mind.
I think I'll settle for 3... for now.
What do I need to buy to get all the current main rules and Dwarf rules for KoW?
The 3rd Edition Compendium (big red book), and Clash of Kings 2024 book.
@@Andy2D6 Is there any chance you will play proper Dwarves in KoW?
I donate a rage infused comment regarding your incorrect play with ambushing miners. I acknowledge your admission of cheating but my rage is not diminished. May the algorithm bless your video for inciting my anger! :)
Lol
Game1, maybe the miners would have been better deployed on the flank where the king was heading. Maybe not super likely to have been able to kill him, and possibly feeding points to the enemy that the king could inflict…but it’s possible that the king may have been more wary of moving in that direction and might have given you one more batch of shooting from the far organ gun?
Was he already out of range by the time the miners appeared? Anyway, just sharing a thought and rewarding your fessing up to unintended cheating with miners.
so when are the Chaos Dwarves coming out to play.
If GW released some classic Chaos Dwarfs, my bank account would be in danger.
@@Andy2D6 have considered rebase my KOW Abyssal Dwarves but fighting the temptation.
Game2, if you reduced your frontage to charge the green knight, you would no longer have ranks because 4 models is not enough to have it count as a rank. That said, the king could have had a shot at redemption with a challenge. So possibly the same result?
4 models wide is enough for Dwarfs to have a rank, since they are heavy infantry.
I refuse to be baited into commenting
Meaty bottom slayer on a flying carpet is the answer.
Iron breakers are open order? If not…no marching order, correct?
They are Close Order, so they can use Marching Column.
@@Andy2D6 I think marching order is an open order thing
@@TheJankmaster Units in Close Order can be in either Fighting Order or Marching Column.
@TheJankmaster A Closed Order Formation can be in Marching Column per page 101. Marching Column is a unit shape both Closed and Open order can use. They can be either in Combat Order or Marching Column.
It appears that I am wrong. Looking at an online resource, it seems that there is another page beyond what I thought limited matching column to open order.
This is going to take a long time before I have a handle on these rules.
Game 1 turned into a bit of a non-event though it was easy to see why, not a great matchup between these two lists. Your opponent seemed to get much the better of the dice, partly with the king surviving but especially the exchange between the rangers which really should have gone more in your favour once the gyrocopter had drawn fire in their first turn. Would be interested to know what you think about how you might have used (or even hidden) the gyro in that game.
Beyond that is was mainly just a demonstration of how much better older dwarf models are than newer ones. I know it's just personal preference, but I wouldn't thank anyone for any of the models in your opponent's army. Yours, uther aside, are actually very much on the young side for my own taste, but still look like proper dwarfs to me and I love the look with the colours and basing.
3 organ guns!!!!
You will suffer against a cannon or stone thrower army, they can stay 30' away and farm points of you
I mean even in the first game your opponent with the one sad bolt thrower had no reason to deploy in range of your murder forrest 😅
Let me present my counterargument: THREE ORGAN GUNS.
@@Andy2D6hehe, it's a game after all and the goal is to have fun
Thing is, i also play dwarfs ( wanted a non legacy army since my poor dark elves got the cold shoulder treatment😓) and without wanting to sound smug, if you played against my army, the moment you dropped your murder machines it would feel like an auto win (for me) and its not like i even have an arty heavy list (one cannon, one grunge thrower)
I just stay 30-35' away and have absolutely nothing to worry about
Having crossbow range with 3' max movement and move and shoot rule can be a real pain in the ass
On the other hand, melting anything that comes into the killzone must feel really satisfying, i'll give you that 😉
Double dragons list shouldn't be allowed
I wouldn't be opposed to this, from my unbiased perspective as a Dwarf player.
I don’t think they qualify for marching collum unless open order
Well, the rules clearly state otherwise so i don't know where you are getting this from (p.101)
@@Jimmyjazz1414 the way I read it initially was that close order was wider than it was deep. And then Marching column followed it in the rules, I took that to be a distinction between what came before and the deeper than wide marching column.
I see my mistake now, but I still blame it on the layout, coupled with my possibly lazy reading.
Varying levels of dismay about games 3-5.
Not much to like about that empire army from my point of view. Neither the models nor the paint scheme do much for me and a full gunline tends to look like the support part of an army missing the rest. That said they probably look a lot better in the flesh and even if gunline might lend themselves to boring games they do bring variety. And it turned into a pretty good game anyway.
Nice to see a warriors of chaos army with warriors of chaos in it, but I've seen this a few times now and the infantry just turn out to be there to be teleported by that spell so still not really being played as infantry. Good game though.
Two dragons, two Phoenixes and about 20 elves? Think this is where variety ceases to be the spice of life. If all your big toys mean there aren't enough points left for anything vaguely resembling an army then you've brought too many big toys. Maybe better suited to a different game all together.
Will be sad if uther's last contribution on the channel is getting uthanised by a dragon. he and his boys achieved more than I expected though I get that that still wasn't much!
The teleporting infantry block and the mega dragon lists do seem quite AoS, rather than Old World. Hopefully, when the dust settles, we will discover that balanced traditional armies can compete with the right builds.
