Как русская девушка, я бы сказала, что если вы любую female назовете девушкой, она никогда не обидится. Потому что если вы девочку назовете девушкой, она посчитает себя взрослой и ей будет приятно, а если женщину девушкой, значит она моложе своих лет, следовательно отлично выглядит.
Так что дорогие иностранцы! Зовите русских девушек - девушками, и будете в выигрыше 100%
Согласен, но я думаю, что это не будет работать в крайностях. Ну то есть, если ты назовёшь конкретно 90-летнию старушку девушкой, она скорее подумает, что ты над ней издеваешься. А если 5 летнию девочку девушкой, то это просто будет выглядеть очень глупо. А так в промежутке с 11 по +- 70 лет можно звать девушками.

@@Yesytsucks Ну это лишь твои мысли и догадки. А на самом деле, наврятли кто-то всерьёз будет называть так, если захочет именно оскорбить. У большинства мужиков, слово «баба» никак не отличается от «мужик». И даже есть девушки, которые сами называют других девушек «бабами» и никто не обижается. Нельзя так серьезно относится к жизни и на все обижаться, можно с ума сойти)

You're right. That's a Spanish word that is used in English and Russian as well. But, in my opinion, you can barely hear it in Russian nowadays. I think, it was mostly used in 2000s

В видео автор забыл упомянуть слово «детка» from russian slang. «Детка» is baby. It’s beautiful and sexual word.
А ну ещё хочу заметить, что «девочка» - female до начала полового созревания и до начала «поломки» голоса.
«Девочка» = от 0 до 12-13 лет
«Девушка» = от 14 до 45 лет примерно
«Дева» = от 45 до ∞ лет
Также есть MILF/«Милфа» = 30 - 50 лет примерно.
Насчёт «шкура» Васян не очень пояснил по понятиям. У слова «шкура» есть синонимы: «блудница», «дешёвка», «проститутка», «шалава», «шлюха», «бл#дина». Вообщем «шкура» спит со всеми подряд, иногда за деньги/подарки.

Actually, the word "милая" is a little more interesting. Of course, now it means "a cute one" but it refers to a more old word - a verb "миловать" which is still present in Russian(however in the meaning "to pardon") and some other slavic languages(like Czech, for example) and this word meant "to love/to adore". So, when you use "милая/милый" in your speech you're really saying the same as "любимая/любимый".
what is малая? there was this guy who would always address me that way when we spoke, and google translate didn't really help, it just translates as small. he and I weren't that different in age, we were both in our late teens
@@larsswig912 Well, that's an interesting question. Firstly, I should admit that Google translate isn't totally wrong as "ма́лый/ма́лая" really means "small". However, there is another word - "мало́й/мала́я" which means "a young one" or, in spoken language it means "a child/a kid/a baby". So this guy has called you "a babe". Such address is very common among young people in Russia.

We used that too. My mother used to call her grannies "baba Olya", "baba Katya". Though when my siblings and I were kids, we often used just "Ba" for that purpose.

We use "крошка" in German too (Krümel). But it's mostly a nickname for a young girl (especially your daughter). Somewhat weird to use it with a stranger 😅
My brother called his girlfriend "Scheiße". He explained her, that shise is a dutch word with root shine and means something shining, something precious.
I don't know why, but I love the way you say it. Really feel the Russian vibe.

Маяк - lighthouse. That's simple, but related words are more interesting
Маякну́ть - notice, give an attention. Example: маякни́ как только закончишь работу - notice me just as you'll have finished the work
Мая́чить - be far but not unnoticed. Example: кто это там маячит в красной куртке? - who is there (don't know english word) in red jacket?
маякнуть also means ''to send a notification that asks to call back''. it used to be popular back when mobile internet was barely a thing. and whenever someone would run out of money on their mobile account and couldn't call the other person, they would маякнуть that other person so that that they would call back
маячить doesn't necessarily imply that something is ''moving'' in the distance. one might even say ''хватить маячить у меня перед глазами" which means that someone's presence in front of the other person is bugging/disturbing that someone and that it's a nuisance

Zaika reminds of of the word "za'ák" in Gilaki language(a language spoken in north Iran), it means little child, or is used to show cuteness(of a person mostly). I think they might have the same root, given both these languages are indo-irano-european.

I suppose the russan equivalent of "Dream crusher" is "Обломщик"(slang). In formal russian we dont have the direct equivalent of this. "ball busting" is "Стерва"(woman with realy terrible character)

Вот баба - это прям чёткое слово. Это.. вы можете назвать женщину бабой ей в лицо короче, и никто не обидится. Нормальное слово - баба. Ну и всё. У нас даже есть фраза такая: "он пошел по бабам". Это значит типа ну пошел гулять ну типа там с девушками там встречаться. Ну короче вы поняли чё. Первое слово - баба. Второе - тёлка. Тёлка - слово уже поопасней. Если тёлка услышит, то что вы её называете телкой, можно огрести. Но тёлка кароч это обычная короче ж.. девушка, женщина. Ничё особенного, просто обычная короче женщина, тёлка. Потом кароч третье слово - чика. Ну чика это такая блин ну модная такая вся из себя кароч баба.. ну чё.. ну чика - это такая красивая там.. короче баба, с которой ты хочешь гонять там.. Ну поняли короче, такая модная вся из себя. Чика - это даже не обидное слово никакое. Ну обычное слово чика.. Следующее слово уже грубое - шкура. Шкура короче - это девушка, ну которая блин... С которой короче только все хотят переспать и всё короче. С неё даже стрёмно общаться там. Просто пришла к тебе на ночь короче и всё. Ну шкура. Шкура и есть шкура. You can call your boyfriend котик (kotik) ("little cat"), милый (milyj) ("lovely"), любимый (lyubimyj) ("loved one") or дорогой (dorogoy) ("dear")

it is equivalent to "девочка". "девчонка" is best used when talking about someone third.
The comment above is right. Though it's not only about young women. Women of all ages can use that word when speaking about their friends. F.e. "Я с девчонками"="Me and my girls". But to some this world may have a negative connotation as parents often use it + neg adj when yelling at young girls so...it's better to be careful.

девчонка" is the same as "девочка", but in a simpler / slang version. Sometimes the word "девчонка" can be disparaging.
So it's better to say "девочка"

I am Russian and I call my son Little squirrel, even though he is 18. I have never heard anyone else call their loved ones Little squirrel, it is my personal term of endearment, I guess. I don't know what is up with us, why we use the animal names, perhaps we subconsciously love animals so much, that it feels appropriate to apply it to humans who we hold dear to our hearts.

If women sometimes enjoy calling eachother or even being called by guys "девочка", dont ever call even a teenager мальчик. To be frank, im oversensitive towards this, since im not particularly young looking (21yo), im still getting called мальчик sometimes, and it bothers me. Im sure there are people with the same problem, so to comfort them, maybe call even younger guys парень.
Also this kind of a machismo culture is quite prevalent in russia, which i dont consider much of a problem. Because of this calling people мужик, even if its connected to an age group, generally complements recipient by attributing them mature qualities. And as for slang, guy above named the most used ones. Чел, чувак, тип, перец, пацан (kind of diminutive if youre not of the same age group)
Oh, and to adhere to the video's structure, i'll name some interesting ones as well.
Бабник - the one with next to no regard to women, only looking for momentary companionship and being uncaring, but good at what he does
Пиздабол - a systematic liar. Highly prophane.
Лох - a fool, sometimes as in easily fooled by women. Medium-prophane
Олень - an equivalent for a simp. Not prophane, but diminutive

The пуп in пупсик sounds like 'poo' in English and also like 'poep' in Dutch. Funny thing, 'poepje' (little poo) can in dutch be used as a term of endearment to express affection for someone (male and female alike). All this in the category of useless facts ;-).
6:00 “Зайка” literally means ‘little hare’. A rabbit is called “кролик”. Maybe “заяц” and “rabbit” are more used when the animal is unknown or there are more hares in Russia and rabbits in English-speaking countries. The former option is like “circle” and “круг”: a circle is окружность and круг is a disk (the 2-dimensional shape), but it's more common to use “circle” and “круг”
