    Great video mate, thanks for the info. Do you know what the largest wheel size you can get onto the 200 without lifting is?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cheers mate. It will depend on a few things. Firstly, if you only have stock rims, you might struggle to get much bigger, aftermarket wheels with a wider offset would help. Also, I do believe that most brands of bullbars, if you have one installed, severely hinder larger tyres without lift. KDSS suspension can also cause an issue, if this is fitted to your 200. Depending on all these factors, I have seen people fit 33'' tyres to a standard lift 200, but I do believe the front mudflaps need to be removed along with potential guard cutting.
      All in all, I wouldn't be able to give you a specific answer, but the LC200 forums are a great place to ask, as so many people have asked or tried these things previously.
      Cheers, Nathan.

    Hi, love the vids - wondering what happens to the rear axle when the car’s loaded and the van is hooked up? Does it move given the new panhard has corrected it unladen?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers John, appreciate the feedback.
      So given that I run the 400kg constant rear springs, along with airbag man airbags in this vehicle, the height (which effects this geometry) doesn't really change at all. Being able to increase and decrease the pressure in the airbags, gives me full control over the height in the rear when weight is added or removed.
      However, without these airbags, I do believe the change in height, and therefore the geometry of the rear axle would be minimum and it wouldn't be hard to find a specification that suits for both scenarios.
      Unless the vehicle was extremely laden and really sagging in the rear end, the change in axle placement would be negligible. Obviously this is my opinion, however, I haven't had an issue with the rear axle placement to date.
      Cheers, Nathan.

    Great Video Mate! Going for the same Bp51 2-inch lift on my LC200, same 305/65 r18 BFG KO2s and method race wheels. I am looking at the method 309s which offer a +18 or 0 offset. Do u think the 0 offsets will rub at full lock turn? How close are your +25 offsets? Cheers again for the info.
    Carlos

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate, great choice, its worked very well on my vehicle so far!
      So keep in mind the closer to 0 the further out the wheel will be. So a +18 or 0 offset will have a little 'poke' outside the guards. I think the standard wheels are +65 offset and I'm running the +25 which is about as close as you are going to get without tread showing outside the guards.
      If you run +18 or 0 I doubt you will have any scrubbing.
      Cheers, Nathan.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jo Jo, I can't provide an exact measurement, as I didn't measure the vehicle prior to having the suspension installed and many of the heavy aftermarket accessories went in shortly after the install, prior to the suspension having time to settle. The tyres alone give a lift of just over 1" and the suspension, despite being marketed as a 2'' front and 1'' lift, ending up coming up about 3'' all round. But, I do believe it has sagged a little since first being installed.

    Hi mate, I’m not sure how long ago you did this video and hence how long have you been running these tyres for… Just wondering if that size and dimension of tyre is still working well for you? I have just done the exact same suspension mods and 2inch lift to my land cruiser with 18 inch rims and my current tyre dimension of 285/60/R18 look like a little mini tyres on the car. I need to change to a new bigger dimension & thought 285/65/R18 was my only realistic option...I like the idea of 305 size etc you’ve done...would you still do it in hindsight?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      G'day Gavin,
      So I put these wheels and tyres on about 10/11months ago. Overall I'm still happy with the combination. The BFG's have held up well (as I expected them too), I still haven't experienced and scrubbing or rubbing on the guards.
      There are two things that I would take into consideration with these tyres and these would come down to personal preference and style of driving with your cruiser.
      1st - Fuel. The bigger the tyres, the more fuel used. If you frequently tow heavily loads and don't necessarily hit the hard tracks (where you need clearance) then you would definitely be using more fuel for little gain.
      2nd - Availability. This is probably the biggest negative with these tyres. They are a strange size and not often readily available in smaller towns and definitely not remote outback areas. If you are going remote or tackling tracks that you predict might chew some tyres, then make sure you have a couple of same size spares or access to some somewhere.
      Overall, I'm planning on driving around Aus for a year in the next couple of years and tackling some remote tracks and I'm still in two minds whether I'll stay with this size or go to a standard 33'' for towing and availability.
      Saying this, I've already told the missus when we get back from the extended drive around Aus, I'm keen to fit some 35''.
      It's very much personal preference, hopefully this has given you something to think about in regards to your cruiser.
      Cheers, Nathan.

      Hey mate, I haven't personally tried this, however I've heard that the Sahara models run slightly larger brake callipers in the front which makes it tight. Apparently you can modify the callipers a little to make them fit, however again, not something that I've personally tried.
      Cheers, Nathan.

      @@XploringOz Thank you. Yes, the Sahara comes with 354 mm front disc compared to other models. I have chosen 305/60R18 positive 35 offset, fits perfectly

    Is it legal to put on 35s on a LC 200 in Australia?

      Unfortunately not legal in the state of Western Australia (where I live). Saying that, not sure if I would regardless. Although it would look awesome, we can travel 90% of the country on the 33/34" and I save a little bit on fuel.

      XploringOz They actually measure the tires to pass inspection?!

      We don’t actually require regular inspections in WA, however we can be inspect by Police when driving around and be required to attend a inspection facility if there is something obviously non-compliant, for example larger tyres with too bigger a of lift. It’s not as bad as it sounds, rarely occurs unless the car is blatantly illegal.

      XploringOz Oh, sounds scary :(. In the US the police do not inspect 4x4s as you are driving about. That would be totalitarian.

      Cheers mate, there would be a couple of factors that you need to consider such as KDSS, which wheels you are using (factory or aftermarket). If your running stock gear, you may need cut some mudguards to make room. Also, if you have a bullbar it may scrub. I think the forums are the best place to get up to date info with others who have tried this already 👍
