I've been living in Jaco for about six months now so I wanted to walk around and show you what the main part of town looks like.
Jaco is actually quite large (to my standards, being used to smaller two road towns). It has just about all you would need as an expat or someone coming to visit Costa Rica.
If you have been following along, you may know before our move to Jaco we were way up in a mountain in a very rural setting, so this has been a big change for us. None the less, we are enjoying it here and it has been a great experience so far!
I moved here to work on a project and it has also been an excellent location for my business.

Just bought a beach front condo in Jaco. My husband and I will be there tomorrow. We love Jaco.
Oh wow!!!! I'll bet it is just beautiful!! They have some amazing beach front condos in the area.
This and Manuel Antonio are my favorite place so far of all the places I've observed

I like the Cumbia music in the background. That makes it an even more Costa Rican video. Cumbia is played very often here on parties. Even the official New Year's eve song is a Cumbia.

It is a nice place overall! Very different from many other places in Costa Rica. So be sure to check out some other areas too to really get a feel for what the country is about.

I was there on New Years Eve...and it poured! Felt bad for all of the people setting up the New Years eve party. All the work down the drain. Anyhow, do you still like living there? Love Jaco, we stay at Los Suenos Hotel. Be there Thursday, finally! Been to CR at least 6 times :). Was going to buy some real estate and then Covid showed up and we couldn't fly :(.

Hi Sarah ! Thanks for sharing your video. I would like to know is mosquito a problem during some time of the year in the southern zone of Costa Rica ? My wife seems to be very attracted to mosquitos during the summer time and she always get a lot of bites by the bugs here in Toronto. I am thinking of moving down there, but concerned about her well being in a tropical world. I don't find a lot of info on this subject. Thanks.

Hey Sarah! I've been watching a lot of your videos and other costa rica real estate. Planning on taking a trip down experiencing Pura Vida life style.
I'm trying to decide on where I would choose to live if I wanted to live in Costa Rica all year.
Atenas attracts me the best with its year round best climate in the world. I personally would love to live by the beach all year but I hear the summers can be unbearable.

Well it would be helpful to spend time in different areas! and yes, spending a summer somewhere will be important to determine how you like that weather so you're not miserable for a few months out of the year if it ends up not being a good fit.
Hi Sarah I love Jaco and have vacationed there 9 times over the years and want to go back as soon as the covid is under control. In this video you walk past the Sunrise Breakfast place have you ever tried it ? It`s my go to breakfast spot in Jaco. One place I also love for supper meals is Senior Harry`s sorry you didn`t walk past it in this video. Have you ever eaten there it`s really good. One last thing my favourite souvenir shop is Fruity Monkey Poop sorry it wasn`t included in this video. I will have to check those places out!! There are still a lot of places I haven't seen in town. Definitely takes time to see and try it all! I will totally go for breakfast at Sunrise if it's a great spot. Thanks for the recommendations.

Is the weather decent in August? I am staying there in late August. Thanks and I gave you a thumbs up.
August is a rainy season month so expect a morning down pour or a nightly downpour , these last an hour or two sometimes once a day sometimes twice a day. Us locals don't mind it much! But if you are coming for vacation may just need to be aware of that for the scheduling of your tours.

You can get up to 100 megabytes with Cable Tica! So just make sure they have that service where you rent.
Is there a curfew time for establishments to close like in San Jose ?
HI, So I am noticing, almost no masks! it looks a lot better than the last video. we are coming down in the spring to look at condos and we were wondering about safty there at night?
Night time has looked OK. I don't think there would be a situation where you would be in any danger. But you will see some interesting things while out and about after 8pm.

No right now is nice and warm., usually year around itis better than California.
It is nice and warm here!! During rainy season it can get a bit "chilly" on my standards, but I get cold easily. The ocean is generally warm year round.

where can i find something to smoke in Jaco?
Are long term rentals with A/C, and furnished available close to the beach and town for 8-900 a month? For a 1 br? I don’t want a car so I would use a bike or taxi.
Yes you could find a rental for that price by the beach.

I love the fact that u work with attorneys and real estate agents, and seem to have so many other quality connections. I’m not looking to just go somewhere and wing it. I like the fact that I could map out an entire plan, and after getting there, stay in touch for info and other locations. I was concerned that my SS of 1550, plus selling my house in Ft. Lauderdale wouldn’t be enough to live on, but I don’t really drink, just eat healthy food and looking for a relaxing lifestyle. I’ll definitely be in touch with u. Thanks for all the great info and responding to questions. I’m hoping my brother who lives on Waikiki beach and ready to retire soon wants to come along eventually. We could live a more than comfortable lifestyle splitting all the expenses. He’s got this idea it’s Central America and a 3rd world country. I told him to Google the real estate and see the kinds of homes and how expensive they are. Far from a typical 3rd world country. Best of all I’m from S Fla, so it’s no where near as far as another favorite of mine, Portugal😂
Is Jaco more of a tourist town? I imagine the weather is hotter here. How far from Perez Zeledon?
It's about 2.5 - 3 hours from Perez! It is more of a tourist town for sure and it is hot as it is on the coastline.

You will need to fly out of the country and come back in in order to extend your visa.

You can go to Jaco Lab or just do it at the airport!

love jaco amazing taco bar the beach is a bit on the violent side people not as friendly as Dominical. they do have nicer shops and hotels with much better service but overall I've always preferred dominical

It's 90 minutes to the airport under normal traffic conditions. ("Near" means "near, relative to other parts of Costa Rica".)
@@nycksw Ive made the trip in hour and 20 minites at 6 am on a sunday,comin home suday with traffic it takes forever,.The statement in question was that its close to the airport.Allejualla and herida is close to the airport .Jaco is not its a trek
Well Jaco is the closest bigger beach town to the airport. and for Costa Rica, an hour and a half is not much compared to other locations which are amazing but may be 3+ hours from the airport like in the southern zone.
@@SarahElenaDesignsLife I hate to keep fighting you on this but close is a relative term.i lived in sanjose and worked in jaco for 20 years and I wouldnt use the term its close to the airport.The only thing I can give you is I really have to add on time to get downtown where I live and aslo I go back to where people needed to tack that sickening winding road old road up and down the mountain so possibly in realive terms people might consider it close to the airport.It really all depends on traffic ,so to me its not a very pleasant trip
@@SarahElenaDesignsLife ...one thing that surprised me the first time I arrived in San Jose and a few days later when I went to Jaco was how different the weather was in the two places. I didn’t realize San Jose was basically on a mountain..we left San Jose and it was about 68 degrees with low humidity, approximately two hours later in Jaco it was in the low 90’s and humid..I’ve read there are something like 24 different micro-climates in Costa Rica. The central valley weather is certainly way different than the beaches.

Well, that PIzza Hut has been there for decades. We like the food options and it creates jobs, so no problem with us.
