We continue to look at the International Court of Justice's interim ruling in South Africa v. Israel with Stockton University professor Raz Segal and human rights lawyer Diana Buttu. We discuss Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's response to the ruling, the role of the United States in stymying international action and more. We also hear more from ICJ president Joan Donoghue's delivery of the ruling, including the court's acknowledgement of the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Untrue, but I understand why this could be an opinion.
ALL countries belonging to the UN can pressure Israel to abide by the Genocide Convention.
These Nations could, in fact, bring their own evidence to South Africa and this to the ICJ.
Case in point: Russia ignored much the same type of order from the ICJ so sanctions CAN be applied to Israel as Russia found out.
Military weapons can be blocked from Israel, money also.
International pressure is entirely possible, in fact very likely on the USA, UK, European countries and Canada.

By reporting monthly to the court, Israelis, are forced to be more circumspect on what they do. And if you know the Israeli society, their need to be recognized is very important. Hasbara exist for that very reason. So with the ruling, their credibility is in tatters and it is has been officially stamped with the 'genocide' brand. This hearing was not about judging Israel as guilty of Genocide. We already know they are. It was about confirming they have a case of Genocide to answer and that was confirmed with the reiteration of the compelling evidence summarized by the head judge. In the meantime it is irrelevant whether they abide by the courts provisional orders which we know wont be adhered to.
The International community in solidarity with Palestine continues to grow massively as part of the beginning of the end of 75 years of atrocities and is now in full swing towards bringing this criminal, rogue, colonial Zionist project to an end.
The Zionist propaganda machine has become a hard sell and rendered virtually obsolete to the majority.

The ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is effectively calling for a ceasefire because it mandates actions that inherently require a cessation of hostilities and aggressive actions. The key elements of the ruling include:
    1. Prevention of Genocide Acts: The ICJ orders Israel to prevent acts that could be considered as genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. This includes stopping killings, serious bodily or mental harm, and other acts that could lead to the destruction of Palestinians.
This direction fundamentally requires an end to violent actions, which is a core aspect of a ceasefire.
    2. Immediate Cessation of Specified Military Acts: The order for the Israeli military to not commit any acts described in the first point (such as killing or causing harm to members of the Palestinian group) is directly aligned with the principles of a ceasefire.
It requires stopping aggressive military operations.
    3. Prevention and Punishment of Incitement to Genocide: By mandating Israel to prevent public incitement to commit genocide, the ruling aims to reduce tensions and hostilities, which is consistent with the objectives of a ceasefire.
    4. Provision of Humanitarian Assistance: The directive to facilitate the provision of basic services and humanitarian assistance implies creating a peaceful and secure environment for these activities. In conflict zones, such humanitarian efforts are often facilitated by ceasefires.
    5. Preservation of Evidence: The requirement to preserve evidence related to allegations of genocide acts suggests a halt in actions that could lead to the destruction of such evidence, implying a reduction in conflict-related activities.
    6. Reporting on Measures Taken: The demand for Israel to report on measures taken to implement the order adds a layer of accountability and monitoring, which often accompanies ceasefire agreements.
Overall, while the ruling does not explicitly use the term "ceasefire," the measures it prescribes are aimed at reducing violence, ensuring safety, and facilitating humanitarian efforts, all of which are in line with the objectives of a ceasefire.

This ruling is essentially repeating what the Biden administration has already stated: Israel must comply with the international law and let humanitarian help into Gaza. The ruling highlights the risk of genocide but apparently for the court there was not enough evidence yet to rule on that, instead the ruling on genocide will take years. In the meantime Israel must provide monthly reports on its war activities. The ruling sounds very lenient and trustworthy of Israel, giving it plenty of time to change the genocide narrative and asking Israel, the potential genocide perpetrator, to provide evidence of its own potential acts of genocide. Despite the ruling, this court case is historical and helps drawing support to Palestine from the global public, which will be eventually the true judge of what is happening in Gaza.
