    Thanks, VERY helpful. What I was curious about was if having a combo muzzle break with blast shield would have less recoil for fast follow-up shots vs just going with a flash can. But you kind of answered that at the end there.

    We just put a break on my sons 10.5 AR and…wow…not something you want to be in the same zip code when the trigger is pulled. The blast forwarding device he got for it at least eliminates the concussion but doesn’t do much to the sound.
    FYI, we put the break on because the flash hider was wearing away the first baffle of his suppressor in a particular pattern. It’s hoped that the break will spread that pattern out a bit. Bottom line is keep the suppressor on the gun.

  • @raystephens2078
    @raystephens2078 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Bottom line is that suppressors are the best way to reduce db but unfortunately, for many of us they’re cost prohibitive. Then there’s the ridiculous tax and wait times.
    Diverters are a compromise, sort of 😝

    • @Odinforever2000

      Yup! 💯%
      The wait time is coming down (Prices too depending on which one you want)...But its still way too long.

    While they do reduce the effectiveness of the muzzle device, there are definitely use cases where they make sense. Like if using a short barreled rifle for home protection. It may be nice to leave one on it in case you need to use it indoors. It will help send the concussive force away from you. Or if shooting next to others, they will really appreciate it as well verses having their faces rocked with the blast from your muzzle comp. If you are outdoors shooting with no one right beside you, take it off and enjoy the benefits of your bare muzzle device.

The influencers have done a smashing job at marketing. Some cans run best/last longest with a break vs a flash hider because of how the gasses are channeled. So you will see a lot of breaks on guns with cans. However the breaks have drawbacks when shooting them without the can. Sometimes that’s OK but sometimes it’s not. So the blast deflector.
      We aren’t talking cool boy trends, it more about optimizing your gear for your situation. Yes it’s easiest to just run an A2 muzzle device for $7 with no can and then you don’t need any fancy hardware.

      That depends on why you have the muzzle brake on the gun. If you have it on there only to reduce wear and tear on the first baffle of your $1200 can then it doesn’t really defeat the purpose. If you run the gun without the can then the blast device makes a shorty AR a bit more palatable to shoot vs. just having a break. I only have breaks (to use as breaks) on my 18” guns, and even then when I’m around other people I put the can or use a blast device. The rest of my guns I use some type of flash hider. I would never use a break on a shorty unless it was for the purpose of running a suppressor, it’s just not the most practical setup.
