Skye I have to say you really must respect a person that only makes the videos they want to make. The joy in you voice while you are recording these is precious. I have exactly 0 desire to play this game but I can’t wait until your next episode.
I’m sorry that I have to register this complaint…here goes……. These videos are too short and posted only daily…. I want to watch hours and hours of these all the time…. Your creativity is so fun and great. Thx.. 😊
Since you asked, the best way to turn it off would be: first the pistons, then the rotor, and then the drills after the momentum has stopped. That way, if the momentum swings the drills against some material, the drills will still go through it because they're last to turn off.. Turning on should be: drills first, then rotor, then pistons.
Suggestion: make use of an event controller to turn off the drill system when your containers are near full. They can turn them on again once the stone is processed.
Being able to build with large and small grids at the same time is the greatest thing ever! If I can have a Light, a railed platform, and a Window on the same block I'll pre-order and pay 70 bucks and buy every DLC! (I've already done this with Space Engineers) Keen deserves it!
About to post this. Just use a sorter to feed all of the stone to one bank of refineries and a different sorter to send the others to one with efficiency modules.
In the button of the toolbar there are a symbol of a block with 2 arrows and a (T) under it 😊 push T so the symbol is not highlighted anymore, then when you build the blocks don’t keep turning 🎉🎉
In your save games options when you load the game, you can turn on "in-game scripts" and with that i qould suggest downloading "Izy's Inventory manager" you will thank me lol 5:53 QoL tip for building rigs...if you build the drill that connects to the conveyor system first you can use the conveyor ports on the drill to pull materials from instead of having to run to a nearby cargo container 15:05 if you increase the braking torque of the rotor your rotor will stop instead of freewheeling
Thanks again! Getting in to space engineers just in time for the sequel to be announced! 😅 16:41 Also theres a setting to keep block orientation from auto flipping around.
Dear sky, my suggestions are as follows, dump the gravel out of your storage hook your drill ship up inside the hanger to the connectors that you already have placed and create a welding ship, even though some will argue it’s faster to do it by hand, I find once you have all the blocks place that you want to build you can load your welding ship with all the components and sit there and weld without having to fly back-and-forth to pick up components when they’re loaded into your ship, so it kind of evens out. But I find it’s a good excuse to build another ship.😅
Have you noticed that your power system on the front of the base looks like drills? So your base looks like some kind of baby driller flying in like baby crocodiles safely nestled in their mother's mouth. It's almost adorable in a mechanical way.
you should add a drill on the top and bottom of each drill stack so that you are drilling at the same level as the floor and roof of what you already drilled. It looks like you have more than enough space for them
hey skye, when you are having trouble building bigger parts and cant see enough of the BP then you can CTRL+scroll to adjust the projection and set point farther, then you can stand back further and see the whole of the BP
Stone is so plentiful, you're slightly wasting yield modules on it. Perhaps do 3 speed and 1 power saving module per refinery, as the speed boost will put a strain on your power grid. Yield modules give you the best 'bang-for-the-buck' with the more rare ores (gold, platinum, uranium), and you can set a dedicated high-yield refinery to refine them by using sorters.
Regarding rotational speed, for a rig this size I would run the rotor very slowly so as the pistons extend the drills don't get overloaded and start banging into the walls. For your setup I'd probably run the rotor at 0.2 rpm and drop to 0.1 rpm as the pistons get closer to 10m. Worth running the drills until they no longer collect stone as that will give you the smoothest tunnel walls which not only looks nice, but will minimise impact on your save file (voxel data is notoriously large, so the cleaner the surface the better in terms of save data). Also worth looking at the Drill and Fill mod which can cut perfect tunnels and rooms with flat surfaces.
You may know already but if you hold ctrl and mmb a storage instead of just mmb, it'll pull enough to make 10 of what youve got in the planner (or as you can hold) and doesn't remove the item from the planner, useful when making lots of conveyors
I think that drills should be turned on first and turned off last; pistons should be turned on last and turned off first. Otherwise, it might be possible that the drill heads collide with the cave wall while they are off.
Pretty good idea with different rooms. Why you dont put the cargo an its face. so you can stack ist onto each other! you just have to build a tiny room but a high one.
Always activate the drills _first when turning on_ but always _last when turning off_ the rig. You don't want the rotor to still be spinning with the drills inactive and risk breaking them! As for storage... Why not try making the large storages part of the floor? It'll save on a ton of resources and open up a ton of floor space to add more detailing work. As for the refineries, I'd highly recommend realigning them so they _DON'T_ block half of the hangar door! That said, it's a shame you can't do a partial rotation, and have a block on the diagonal facing. If you could, you'd be able to make an eight-faceted drill rig.
I like making ship carts so the ship can land onto the cart near the entrance, then the cart takes it into a parking/repair bay. solves the low ceiling problem
Dear Skye rotation speed I run at .5 piston at .5. And if you are doing stone do 2 speed and 2 yield on the refinery. It chew faster an slightly less ingot. Also run 4 refinery’s the same way.
if your not playing with mods... When refining stone you will get literal tons of gravel as well as the ore, 10's of thousands of bags of it, which is only needed for reactors last i checked, in tiny amounts... You might consider dumping them out an airlock (or land based equivalent) for the game to delete for you, it tends to just eat up cargo space otherwise :)
loving the base design, really getting a proper sci fyi seel to it!, also tried playing this game and learned i suck! 😁👍 i vaguely remember there should be a storage script that you can download and watch a tutorial on how it works It allows for a auto restock of selected components in a selected storage. I'm the person that don't play the game and only enjoy watching it you play. So I don't have an idea 😂 sooo dumb question here. Can you make a storage wall so it won't fill you space?? Make those container tucked in the wall? Or the floor??
@@SkyeStorme You want to build a conveyor tube leading outside of your base, then put a conveyor sorter on it white listing gravel then put a ejector port on it, it'll spit out all your gravel and free up a tone of space. The only use for gravel is making reactor components, and your gonna have more than you could ever need with all the stone your mining, so tossing it out is the best thing to do. If you end up needing some for building a reactor then you can just mine some very easily.
