Another situation was at European Games between C.Popov and M.Caljouw in quarterfinals. In the end of 3rd set, Mark makes a flick serve after Christo showing he was ready. Christo starts yelling he wasn't ready, right before seeing the shuttle goes out. And suddenly changes his mind and beg for the point at the umpire. These situations are crazy and players should be more punished with at least yellow card for misconduct. In the match with Antonsen, he has being annoying many times on the receive before getting a card. The more players don't get punished for such behavior, the more we will see this happen. no, it should be fault. You can tactle it by pointing your hand up while maintaining eye contact and getting ready. when you are ready with racket up, point the hand down and then receive the serve.

The only reason for the sideway or circular motion of server's racquet is to distract the receiver. This is not the intent of serving in badminton. 3:34 Chou already had his left hand holding up when he tried to be in the position, he knew Nishimoto is gonna serve quickly - I've had a few very quick-ready server before, whom I felt not doing it for the dirty purpose (unlike it here which was quite "the earliest possible"), so I just tried to keep one hand up when I got ready, it was inconvenient but was okay. There was, though, once, I had a game with (very amateurs) and the lady CONSTANTLY served while I was still "moving into the ready position". It was incredibly annoying. I was not even still yet and she served. She definitely did it on purpose and want to serve while the opponent is not really ready. I really don't see the point - we are so at the amateur level. That is so dirty and way worse than the proper sudden flick serve. Saw some comments about the slow serving - I do it a lot now, unintentionally. It was mostly because I don't get to (lazy) practice my serve anymore (like before), so it just takes longer and longer to access and avoid a really bad serve. (especially if I just had a bad serve, oops) Sometimes I saw my component already moved (when I hit it too slowly - sigh - I really should practice serving!) but, maybe not as long as 10 sec. It is just really hard to do a good doubles serve - considering what kind of 3rd shots you are passing onto your partner.

It's not dirty tactics to serve right after the opponent is ready, it's just frowned upon. It's like touching gloves in boxing, once you touched gloves means the fight has already started. And some fighters use this as a surprise attack. It's not illegal in the rules, so be ready. France vs Japan MD, she has already put her hand down and the French served. Nothing wrong with that. For CTC V nishimoto, ctc still has his hand up, iirc, his ready position isn't the same as the "wait i'm not ready" position, so no one should be confused. I didn't look at the rules, but I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be a rule saying "wait for 1-2 seconds before serving once opponent indicated they are ready", at most it's only common courtesy.
it's not grey area, nothing wrong with it. Rules state only forward motion at the start of serve. What constitutes the start of serve is when he starts his backswing. Whatever happens before is not considered start of serve. He can dance, shift his grip, throw the shuttle in the air, nothing matters beforehand.
I can't stand Marin such a dirty player I can't watch her compete does my absolute head in. I think Badminton has got to bring in a new set of rules about a serving time limit when to serve when the opponent is ready and what happens if they continuously waste time.
A few to also mention: 1. Choi holding the serve for 10 seconds before serving (vs Minions). 2. Shetty and his serve routine 3. Looking away and then flicking (Wang Chang)
Korean MD player server in general have issue; LYD specifically always serve higher than the hip (old rule). Probably explain why he retired shortly after more objective rule changed to use 1.15 meter device introduced
@@teguhsuryadi5387 ? He was rarely faulted with his serve in regards to serve height. Not to mention his serves were not particularly higher compared to other players at the time. During the mixed doubles, serving instantly is called being smart how is this called dirty…😂😂😂 when u put down your hand you are considered to be ready😂😂😂
Those quick service are quite deceptive, so Antonsen might feel that he wasn't ready. I remember Xia Xuanze used to do them a lot, quickly flicking the serve suddenly during half a beat where the opponent was inhaling, that way, even if you're in a ready position, it feels like they caught you off guard. I remember the guy ended up getting reprimanded for it, and he changed his service.
That's what I hate from European players, knowing the fact that they were lack in skills and achievements, so they will always play such a dirty games every single time, whatever it takes. Poor sportsmanship 👎🏽
04:28 In my opinion, i don't think it's wrong for what Thom Gicquel serving instantly after his opponents put their hand down.. cuz his opponent already took more than 6 secs (according to this clip) in unready position while he already ready to serve

Always had bad vibes about Nishimoto, fool looks hella shady. I lost so much respect for Antonsen after this. He's a world class player, should rely on his skills rather than cheap tricks to get a point. SHAME.
Same here. U can see it in Nishimoto's eyes. He has had little success winning titles throughout his career and is obviously desperate to try whatever he can to get there. Antonsen is also a sore loser, as most Danes are. I have nothing against Danes but statistically you can not deny that there are so many Danes who always appear to be angry and have poor sportsmanship. One exception is Gade who would show frustration but had always been respectful and fair in his games. Take a loss like a real athlete.
@@Cookie_boi316 remind me of the current danish mixed double pairs , the male player has insane anger issue, and the female is a sore loser who behaves like a child in one of her womens doubles match.
Great compilation. Marin can be seen in any of the videos which mention annoying/unfair/wrong etc. Antonsen is a great athlete and a player of great caliber, it doesn't suit his stature to do such cheap tactics.
Doing dirty and lame tricks disqualifies someone from being a "great athlete and player of great caliber". His behavior makes him look like a freaking clown
This rule is so stupid, it should be like in volleyball, the referee whistles and you have a few second to serve, doesnt matter if the opponent is ready, how not to be ready if your only one job is to be ready
I don't blame Nishimoto - when the umpire shows that these tricks are allowed, you use them to win. It is up to the umpire to show that you cannot use these tricks, but he let Antonsen use it so many times.
Antonsen should realize his bs, when the crowd cheers on the umpire for giving him a yellow card. I was thinking that Nishimoto was quite fast to serve, hitting the shuttle as soon has Antonsen lowered his hand at times. Then was his time to shine in this compilation of silliness. I mean, it's singles, the serve isn't the most important part unlike doubles.
I hope BWF will amend the badminton rule to make side-way (as well as up-and-down) swinging immediately before a service a fault. It is annoying! I like to see a vote for this. ^_^
Nishimoto was also using dirty tactics lol. He moved too much and in a split second serves the shuttle. In the recent matches, you can see he stopped using this tactic which could possibly mean he has been warned by his coach not to play tricks like this.
People are hating on Antonsen here. Sure what he did was unfair. But serving instantly on ready up (as nishimoto did here constantly), I consider just as unfair
I was wondering how everyone was so clueless and oblivious about what Nishimoto was trying to pull. Apparently nobody on the internet plays badminton. Neither do the commentators (Yes, I know Gill Clark is an accomplished player but how she isn't aware of what was going on is still absolutely baffling).

Antonsen body position ready, racket ready, looking at the server, and still not ready? Even Gillian Clark says why on earrth wasn't he ready. I think its acceptable to put your hand up and get into the ready position (which antonson did) but once that is down, you should be execpting the serve. Not be like, hold on, im still not ready which is what Antonson shown here and that should not be acceptable.
The instant serves are so dirty. I play badminton myself and to receive serves like these is just annoying as hell. I always wait for the opponent to stand ready, before I raise my racket to get ready to serve. This should be some kind of rule, to prevent these instant serves.
Well as long as the players can play this way with more gains than lost and win more matches, they will not stop because their reputation will be compenstated commercially for their achievements.
And even for those who becomes one of the best players, these "tricks" will be regarded as symbols of a great player just like Victor Axelsen's serve. Because everybody knows that succussful people always have some strange habits.
have the rules changed?? We were taught the point of contact for a serve is BELOW the waist... All the doubles players were easily hitting above the waistline with the way they are holding the racquets....All fault serves...
Guys this is me fast typing pls don’t judge me if I make a mistake even though auto correct is my friends I hope auto correct is doing something bye byeeee
I think they need a rule for that to be ready like on volleyball.. when the umpire blow the whistle ready or not serve must do in 8 sec and reciever should be ready to stop this exploit..
This sort of shady acts lower the players' integrity & inage. If the players and their coaches have a little bit of self respect and sportsmanship, they wouldnt have used this 'tactics' to try to climb the ladder of excellence.
If the server is serving, then it's up to the receiver to be ready. A simple rule change puts the responsibility to be ready on the receiver. I can't understand why some sports tie themselves up in knots like this.
It's time for BWF to issue a directive (probably fresh serving rules, if necessary) to the players. Let them all learn the sportsmanship along with the game.
They’re going to be using VAR at some point to avoid some of this. The poor umpire isn’t able to watch both players closely enough to get it right every time. Same goes for action around the net.
What a load of horse cr*p. The rule should be similar to tennis where the server dictates the pace of play. The receiver is required to be ready when the server is ready. This means no unfair delay tactics by the receiver. End of.
Дисквалифицировать надо без предупреждения за любые методы набивания очков на подаче. Смысл бадминтона не в сложной обманной подаче, а в дальнейшей игре
Putting the hand down to ready position, and then actually ready to play, takes like 2 seconds. It’s basically sportsmanship, you should serve only when the receiver is ready, which is both hands in ready position, both acknowledging that they are ready (takes like a second), then serve.
People usually look down with hand up, then lower hand while raising their head. What the opponent does is serve right as the hand is lowered but their gaze is not really focusing yet on the opponent/shuttle. That's why they are not really ready.

it's not grey area, nothing wrong with it.
Rules state only forward motion at the start of serve. What constitutes the start of serve is when he starts his backswing. Whatever happens before is not considered start of serve. He can dance, shift his grip, throw the shuttle in the air, nothing matters beforehand.
Lol Antonsen and Marin every time something annoying happens
OHHH REALLY ?... MINIONS are the most annoying player i have ever seen...
Minions are the worst when it comes to sportsmanship lmaoo
@@teguhsuryadi5387 ? He was rarely faulted with his serve in regards to serve height. Not to mention his serves were not particularly higher compared to other players at the time. And he only retired from international tours in 2022 which is 4 years after the change of service rule and he's still playing professionally within Korea.
@@teguhsuryadi5387more than half men's double serves were higher than the hip in the old days. Not just any one specific player
During the mixed doubles, serving instantly is called being smart how is this called dirty…😂😂😂 when u put down your hand you are considered to be ready😂😂😂
He'is not ready, not ready to lose...😂😂
Seo of Korea in MD, he is still serving with that annoying trick in Japan open in November 2023. Moving the shuttle with all motions before serving.
yeah, he is so annoying
I just love your intro like marvels❤❤❤❤
So Antonsen and MARIN are the problem in badminton. Wow, classic Europeans. Doing anything to win!
Nishimoto used it a lot.
What Marin did?
So racist
Why Haaland playing badminton 😶
I thought I was the only one thinking that 😂
I am too thinking that
Those quick service are quite deceptive, so Antonsen might feel that he wasn't ready. I remember Xia Xuanze used to do them a lot, quickly flicking the serve suddenly during half a beat where the opponent was inhaling, that way, even if you're in a ready position, it feels like they caught you off guard. I remember the guy ended up getting reprimanded for it, and he changed his service.
Antonsen always plays dirty like that.
easy - when addressing to serve/receive - the timer should allow 5 seconds and then you must be ready and play continues.
Just play football halland
😂😂
😂😂underrated
That's what I hate from European players, knowing the fact that they were lack in skills and achievements, so they will always play such a dirty games every single time, whatever it takes. Poor sportsmanship 👎🏽
Thanks for making, insightful !

In my opinion, i don't think it's wrong for what Thom Gicquel serving instantly after his opponents put their hand down.. cuz his opponent already took more than 6 secs (according to this clip) in unready position while he already ready to serve

Whoever thought is haaland on the thumbnail im with you 😂😂😂
Great compilation. Marin can be seen in any of the videos which mention annoying/unfair/wrong etc. Antonsen is a great athlete and a player of great caliber, it doesn't suit his stature to do such cheap tactics.
He's been doing it more and more since 2021. Becoming the MS Marin
Marin is the mother of those titles
What a shame Nishimoto, he clearly knows the other is not fully ready
I mean...tactic is tactic, but some of these are just habbits, bad habbits, which should not be tolerated and could be reduced if strictly prohibited
Soon, the receiver's partner would say I was not ready at the serve.
The umpire should've just awarded points accordingly. No need to argue at all.
I hope BWF will amend the badminton rule to make side-way (as well as up-and-down) swinging immediately before a service a fault.
It is annoying!
I like to see a vote for this. ^_^
How am I not surprised antonsen was in this video haha. low class tricks.
Nishimoto was also using dirty tactics lol. He moved too much and in a split second serves the shuttle. In the recent matches, you can see he stopped using this tactic which could possibly mean he has been warned by his coach not to play tricks like this.
Yeah if you watched the whole video you'd see this was also in the video.
@@xyzcv5I think she always had a bad impression of Antonsen, such as delaying the game
@@xyzcv5 she played long ago. plus these dirty tactics werent known by everyone back then perhaps. nowadays with badminton becoming more competitive theres more of these dirty tactics of people trying to win by less than sportsmanlike ways...
@@xyzcv5LOL obviously you're the crying baby here. Nishimoto played absolutely under the rule and every player had played like this for years. So why is Antonson so special huh? Shut up already dude
Erling Haaland are playing pro badminton? 😮
Imagine if antonsen and marine Carolina played mixed doubles together
Nishimoto was also a jerk😅
Guys this is me fast typing pls don’t judge me if I make a mistake even though auto correct is my friends I hope auto correct is doing something bye byeeee
Denmark produces brats in sport with poor sportsmanship.
Holger Rune: hold my beer
Antensen: i will hold his beer
4:28 Gicquel did nothing wrong
if there is a service fault rule, there should be a receiver fault rule too and reward server the point
I think they need a rule for that to be ready like on volleyball.. when the umpire blow the whistle ready or not serve must do in 8 sec and reciever should be ready to stop this exploit..
0:14 Since when did erling Halland started playing badminton?? 😂
This sort of shady acts lower the players' integrity & inage. If the players and their coaches have a little bit of self respect and sportsmanship, they wouldnt have used this 'tactics' to try to climb the ladder of excellence.
Olympic players ❌ Tricksters✅
Marin and Antonsen plays mind games the most... And their rankings are almost same... They deserve to be couple
Nice intro! Just like marvel intro!
It says something when the crowd applause when you get a yellow card for misconduct. Poor sportsmanship shown from Antonsen
I’m getting annoyed just watching Antonsen…😡
if you do that shinanigans in our group u will prop. not see the ball that often because u will get replaced :D
Yo, Haaland is playing badminton too???
Ngl when i first looked at the thumbnail I thought it was Haland playing badminton
It is the umpires job to do something about this. Give the points to the server and dq the opponent if it continues.
Badminton umpires are very unprofessional in general.
What a load of horse cr*p. The rule should be similar to tennis where the server dictates the pace of play. The receiver is required to be ready when the server is ready. This means no unfair delay tactics by the receiver. End of.
Alternatively like volleyball where the umpire blows the whistle and you have to serve within a few seconds
I wanna see Antonsen vs Marin
At 2:23 Antonsen did not deserve a yellow card. The fault was with Nishimoto who served very quickly.
GLAZER
i thought sports was about playing and not crying over small rules for points
Got my blood boiling watching these dirty tactics in action!
Is that haaland at the start 😭 haaland went from football to badminton 😭
In Japan, you serve Sumo style- the split second the wrestler touches both knuckles on the ground, BOOM
are there none of renkireddy and shetty?😂😂
Yeah and guess who taught them how to do that? Matthias 10seconds Boe
@@djdavidphillipsthey also do that annoying thing where they move the racquet like a search light back and forth before serving
Looks more like special Olympics
At 3:07, Antonsen held his left hand up as a normal hand position during a shot - not to say that he wasn't ready.
Antonsen: play dirty, lose dirty simple.
Дисквалифицировать надо без предупреждения за любые методы набивания очков на подаче. Смысл бадминтона не в сложной обманной подаче, а в дальнейшей игре
What is wrong in serving instantly when the opponent puts their hand down?.... I don't understand can somebody explain!!
Marin has to be the most unlikeable character on the women's side of the tour.
Lol what nishimoto did , Lee Chong Wei did it too , when it comes from underdog players , it count as dirty trick , but by the legend no one give a f
I haven't noticed but if LCW did it too, then shame on him as well. The rule and criticism should apply to everyone fairly.
Antonsen is annoying same as Marín. They are capable players but they are dirty and annoying.
Why is my man erling haaland not ready 🙃
